Halloween 2012!!!

We tend to do a lot of things for one holiday. Two Grandma parties, parade at the Elementary School, and actual Halloween night! So to help me simplify, here they all are... rolled into one post!

Here are my kids in their Halloween costumes.
Isaac chose to be a scary vampire this year. Thank heavens the store costume was a great fit!  He also was a big fan of the makeup... mainly the blood scars I made on his face. Daxton's was a different story. He wanted to be Mickey Mouse. The costume of Mickey at the store was very weird. The hat didn't fit, nor did the ears stand up. Also, the costume was very formal with coat tails and a bow tie. And that was the only costume, even online. Also, Dax had a tall order to fill... He wanted yellow shoes. So, I called in the big guns... my sister Aleesha. She helped me make a Mickey Mouse costume and I sprayed a pair of his old tennis shoes yellow. We also made some ears. What would I do without that girl...several (and I mean several!) hours later we had a darling Mickey Mouse costume! Phew. Yes. I'll just state for the record... I'm a good mom.

But you have to admit, it turned out pretty cute!

Complete with a mouse tail, yellow shoes, white buttons, and darling Mickey Gloves! Yes we made those too!!! Now what else could you possible need? Oh yes. Minnie Mouse. Daxton wanted to me to be Minnie. So, being the good mother I am... we went back to the store and bought some more fabric and made me a little Minnie Mouse costume. Here is the finished product.

 Mickey and Minnie... together.
Notice Pluto in Daxton's arms. We really should have just made the whole gang!!!

I've always wanted my baby to be a pea in a pod. Who knew Tanner was going to be such a tiny pea inside that pod!!!
He hated the costume, it had soooo much room inside I think he felt like he was being gobbled up by fabric. He probably stayed in it for a total of 5 minutes. Here's his true feelings on the whole costume attempt...
Oh well. Live and learn!

Grandma Nancy's Halloween Party

We took pictures of the kids in their Halloween costumes before the pulled them off 5 minutes later. Why do we dress up again? Oh yes, to not wear the costumes! Not Dax though. There was no way he would take off any part of his costume.

Here are my 3 darling children. A vampire, Mickey Mouse, and a pea in the pod. Hmmm, maybe next year I can get them to coordinate their costumes!
Elizabeth was a darling witch. Dallin was a mad scientist. Lilly was a darling pink bat girl.
And Jasmine was the cutest little orange pumpkin!!!
Grandma Nancy always plans fun games for the kids! They had a skeleton bone hunt. Then they went outside and played pumpkin bowling. That was a success!

Grandma Linda's Halloween Party

We had dinner at my parents house. The girls and I loved our spooky food from last year, so we tried some new varieties this year! I made witches broomsticks. Aleesha made witches hats to match my broomsticks. She also made Brazilian cheesebread pumpkin rolls. Liz made a darling spiderweb dip and Rachel made mummies again because they are so delicious and we all loved them last year. (Dax pretty much only ate mummies for dinner.)
Rachel dressed up to match her darling Kaz... who I must say was the cutest skeleton! He had candy corn on his tummy!
We had another doughnut eating contest, which was another success! The kids make me laugh. They so want to use their hands! Zan was Darth Vader. Isaac was a vampire. Eliza was an angel. Josh was Sonic the Hedgehog. (Liz was Tails to match him! Thanks to Aleesha's help) Acacia was a minion from Despicable Me. (Another costume Aleesha helped create!)
I can't even remember who won. Maybe Eliza. She worked really hard eating that doughnut and never tried to cheat!
There are so many people in my family it's getting harder to all find a time to get together, so we added in a few birthdays during our Halloween party. We celebrated Cayden's birthday and we celebrated Daxton turning 3!!! Ah! I can't believe my little boy is already 3!
Aleesha, (Cruella De Vil) got him some fun books and Grandma Linda and Grandpa Dale got him a Mickey guitar.
We stuck some candles in a sprinkled covered doughnut and sang to him!
He preferred eating his with his hands instead of on a string!
 Happy Birthday Cayden and Daxton!!!

Halloween Day! 2012

Halloween morning we had to wake up bright and early for school and get Isaac all dressed up in his costume. Then I packed up the two kids and ran out of the house to see Isaac in the Halloween parade! He looked so grown up walking by!
Then came Halloween night. We dressed up again and and re-touched up the boys makeup. Isaac requested extra blood cute on his face.
 Here's my darling Mickey Mouse!
Rachel lent me a monster outfit she had. Tanner was much happier in this then he was the pea costume! Plus he stayed home with dad and handed out candy instead of running around the neighborhood.

 Happy Halloween from our family!!!!
The kids went Trick or Treating with their friends Jake and Taylor. Jake was Batman and Taylor was Cinderella. Had we thought about it some more she could have been Minnie!
And our neighbor Bob always has some crazy costume on.... A very scary scarecrow. He did a good job scaring the older kids that came to his house.
Dax did a good job keeping up with his brother. (Isaac is always so sweet to wait for him or help him at the door.) He learned to run from house to house and he only spilled his candy once. He learned if he gave me his bucket to carry he could run a lot faster. Taylor's dress was pretty long and she kept tripping. We had to pick up her candy quite a few times. Natalie and I wondered around the neighborhood with kids until dark. After that the little kids were done. Dax didn't even care to go to the last few houses on the way home.
We went home and ate some soup and rolls and the kids rummaged through all of their candy.

Halloween Festivities 2009

The week of Halloween was a busy one this year! Isaac started the week by going to his first friend Halloween party. I feel like he is getting so old when he starts getting invited to little kid parties. His friend, Ethan from preschool invited all the kids over and they had a ball icing cookies and doing fun Halloween activities.

Isaac's choice of costume this year: Buzz Lightyear!!!

My brother took this darling picture but it was getting dark and I'm not that great with photoshop! We had a family Halloween party on my side of the family so all the kids could see each other in their costumes.

We had chili and cornbread, the kids sparkled pumpkins and played Halloween Bingo (which Isaac won!) And grandma and grandpa gave the kids a special halloween treat bag with some fun little toys inside.

Grandpa Dale and Buzz "Isaac" Lightyear!
(When he's in costume, he has to be called Buzz.)

At home Isaac wanted to paint his pumpkins. He mixed colors, painted his hand and smeared it on the pumpkins, and colored them with markers.

At preschool, Isaac was busy making Halloween crafts like this scary pumpkin mask!

Isaac's Preschool Class
They had a Halloween party and he came home with lot's of treats!

Later in the week Isaac wanted to take another "stab" at his pumpkins! ... Literally. We found him with a butter knife trying to carve his own pumpkin. As much as Brett hates this tradition, he was a good sport and helped Isaac carve it.

Isaac LOVED cleaning out the guts! (Although, it took his a while to get him to use his hands and not a giant spoon that Brett gave him.) Cleaning the pumpkin is always mom and Isaac's job because of the pumpkin smell.

Isaac drew his own face with tiny eyes and a tiny nose. Brett followed his pattern exactly. (Well, he helped a little with the mouth. Isaac wanted a tooth.) But he was so proud of his creation!

It was an eventful week as we anticipated Halloween and getting to do the most exciting part...
Trick or Treating!
