- Global Strategic Trends - Out to 2045 UK Ministry of Defence 01 Jul 2014 -- "Global Strategic Trends (GST) describes a strategic context for those in the Ministry of Defence (MOD) and wider Government who are involved in developing long-term plans, policies and capabilities. Without a strategic context there is a risk that planners, policy-makers and capability developers may assume a future that adheres to preconceived thoughts and assumptions. As well as providing a strategic context, this fifth edition of GST (GST 5) identifies long-term threats and opportunities, out to 2045. GST does not attempt to predict the future – it cannot. Rather, it describes those phenomena that could have a significant impact on the future and combines these differing perspectives to produce a multifaceted picture of possible outcomes."

- White Book on Violations of Human Rights and the Rule of Law in Ukraine (November 2013 — March 2014) Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation April 2014, Released 05 May 2014 -- "This study covers the period from the end of November 2013 to the end of March 2014 and deals with the situation with human rights and the rule of law that emerged in Ukraine as a result of a violent seizure of power and unconstitutional coup.(..) We do not claim to report exhaustively in this White Book all tragic events that took place in Ukraine. Nonetheless, the present list of the most flagrant violations of fundamental international norms of human rights and the rule of law committed in this country, by ultranationalist, neo-Nazi, and extremist forces which have monopolized the Euromaidan protests, far from being exhaustive, gives enough grounds to claim that such violations were widespread. The essential task of this White Book is to focus on facts to which the international community and key international human rights bodies, as well as relevant nongovernmental organizations have not shown proper and impartial attention."

- Report on the human rights situation in Ukraine UN Office of the High Commisioner for Human Rights 15 Apr 2014 -- "In Crimea, a number of concerns relating to human rights could be observed before and during the 16 March referendum. On 27 March, the General Assembly in paragraph 5 of resolution 68/262 concluded that the referendum “had no validity”. In addition to this, the presence of paramilitary and so called self-defence groups as well as soldiers in uniform without insignia, widely believed to be from the Russian Federation, was not conducive to an environment in which voters could freely exercise their right to hold opinions and the right to freedom of expression. There have also been credible allegations of harassment, arbitrary arrest, and torture targeting activists and journalists who did not support the referendum." [MS Word]
