De hominum genere aut omnino de animalium loquor, cum arborum et stirpium eadem paene
natura sit? sive enim, ut doctissimis viris visum est,
maior aliqua causa atque divinior hanc vim ingenuit,
sive hoc ita fit fortuito,1 videmus ea, quae terra gignit,
corticibus et radicibus valida servari, quod contingit
