Gaming house.

--John A. Worsham was before the Mayor yesterday to answer the charge of Keeping a gaming house in the building known as Corinthian Hall, anterior to the passage of the new gaming law on the 16th of October. When this house was searched, on the 20th of October, ivory chips and cards were found on the premises, but no boxes or other tools generally used in faro banks. Worsham denied the proprietorship of the house, and when the case was called yesterday Mr. Joseph P. Jones, the owner of the building, testified that he rented the house to Worshant more than two years ago; that twelve months ago last spring Worsham leased it to Streat, by his consent, W. being security for the payment; that he had always collected the rent of W., but that he had no legal claim on W. for it other than as security. At the instance of the defendant's counsel the investigation was adjourned till Tuesday next.
