Giving passes.

--Owners and hirers of servants cannot be too particular in the wording of passes. General passes are in violation of law, and to give a servant written permission to procure work at pleasure and collect the hire, is but putting that servant "at large," for which the law imposes a heavy penalty.--Passes must state where the servants are to go and when to return, and if intended for regular visits, must be endorsed on the back by the owner of the premises at which the visits are to be made.
