The French army.
The organization of the French army deserves the careful study of the Confederate military authorities. The French are far ahead of all other nations in their military organization. In whatever relates to naval affairs we may look to England; but in everything that belongs to armies there is no comparison between England or any other European power and France. This was proved to the satisfaction of the English themselves in the Crimean war. They are as brave and as warlike as the French, but too much tied to pipe clay and red tape. Soldiers such as compose the Confederate army ought to be provided by the Government with the best system of organization, in all its details, in the world, and that we humbly conceive is the French.
