--Shortly after he had joined the army at Corinth, Gen'l Beauregard conducted him round the lines of the camp and with a good deal of pride exhibited and explained the strength of his fortifications. ‘"What do you think of these works, General Price?"’ ‘"Why, General,"’ answered Price, ‘"to tell you the truth, I never saw but two of the kind before, and that was after our boys had taken them."’
