Picked up at sea.

--The following was picked up in a bottle at sea, dated Aug. 1861

"Gone down in the Bay of Biscay, the screw steamer Hiaro. Have taken to the boats, but don't expect to see land again. May the Lord have mercy on us!

John Sorston, First Mate."
