Direct trade with Europe.

A line of steamships is about to be started between Charleston, S. C., and Europe, it being now a political as well as a commercial necessity to have direct trade between the South and Europe.

The Norfolk Argus says, Norfolk was to have been the importing emporium of the South, but the action of Virginia has prevented this consummation so devoutly wished for by our people.
