News was received, at Washington, last night from Major Anderson, to the effect that he had notified the commander of Fort Moultrie that he expected a ship with reinforcements, and that if it was fired upon, or her passage through the channel interfered with in any way, he would fire upon Fort Moultrie.
The commander replied that he “might fire and be d----d.”
This is regarded as an indication that the secessionists intended to attack the vessel, and intense anxiety for her safety, and in regard to the probable issue of affairs in Charleston harbor, therefore prevails.--Phila. Press, Jan. 10.
