Dr. Worcester, of Salem, Mass., in addressing the City Guards of that city, previous to their departure for the war, closed his remarks amidst profound stillness, as follows:--“Soldiers, on a memorable night of ancient battle, when a few men routed many thousands, their watch-cry was, ‘The sword of the Lord and of Gideon.’
I give to you, soldiers, for your watch-cry, ‘The sword of the Lord and of Washington.’
