This week, Jaydee has a fabulous Clean-and-Simple Theme Challenge for us:
As soon as I saw the theme I knew that I was going to ink up my #Elfie stamp set. I mean, elves are Santa’s little helpers on the North Pole, right? This stamp set is fabulous for coloring, especially with Stampin’ Blends. I inked this little guy up in Tuxedo Black Momento Ink and colored him in. When you are coloring with Stampin’ Blends it’s important to use an ink pad that won’t smear with the alcohol-based markers. Momento Ink is perfect!
Color Combo:
When I started creating this card, I focused on the image and the coloring. When I got that finished, it took everything in my power NOT to overdo it. It IS Clean-and Simple (CAS) week, after all. I simply made this little dude the focal point with a little pop of pattern from the Night Before Christmas DSP. I REALLY wanted to add embossing to the white background, but decided to just embrace that CAS means “less-is-more”.
You know what? I really liked how it turned out! I hope you do, too.
- Cherry Cobbler Card Base - 4-1/4” x 11, scored at 5-1/2”
- Whisper White Cardstock - 4” x 5-1/4”
- Night Before Christmas Designer Series Paper - 1-3/4” x 5-1/4”
- Cherry Cobbler Cardstock - 3-1/8” x 4-1/8”
- Whisper White Cardstock - 3” x 4”
- Whisper White Cardstock (for sentiment) - 1-3/4” x 1/2”
- Whisper White Cardstock (inside card) - 4” x 5-1/4”
- Night Before Christmas Designer Series Paper (inside card) - 1” x 5-1/4”
Of course, I couldn’t resist the little details. I added some Wink of Stella to this little dude’s trim on his coat and hat. I also addd it to the little ornament. I also popped on two rhinestone “buttons” colored with the Old Olive Stampin’ Blends Marker because let’s face it, every elf needs some bling.
Finally, a peek inside the card, simply dressed up with a little pop of DSP and a coordinating sentiment and image from the set.

ReplyDeleteAM, your instinct to let your little elf be the focal point, surrounded by all that white, was absolutely right on. He is adorable and you colored him beautifully. Fabulous CAS card, my friend. Thank you for rocking my challenge
