Preppy Diaries: Sophisticated Stripes

This look is basically head to toe J Crew, which is basically amazing. I am loving this striped embellished top from J Crew. I got it on sale in Chicago while shopping over winter break. It has a gorgeous beading and rhinestone detail on the chest which isn't tacky in any way (which I think is hard when it comes to sequins) In general I am obsessed with striped tops from J Crew I have three that basically are all the same but I still keep buying them. It's an addiction.

I paired the top with a J Crew skirt which is actually from the kids department. It was super cheap so it is justifiable. I like how the skirt has a small flair and also some pleating detail. To finish the look I wore my favorite brown boots and a pair of brown sweater tights.

Overall the look is super preppy and classy I think. I also wore this outfit to my first meeting as an executive member for my school's fashion magazine. It totally reflects my style and I thought it looked put together but still a little casual.

Preppy Diaries: Stripes and Such

Preppy Diaries: Stripes and Such

Today, like most days, was another preppy outfit to add to the Preppy Diaries. This preppy look included one of my favorite preppy must haves, a Ralph Lauren oxford shirt.
These shirts literally go with everything! They are such a great investment to have in your closet.

With the oxford I wore a fun striped skirt. This skirt goes with so much and is surprisingly versatile. Of course I paired this look with a black bubble necklace. (the ultimate preppy girl accessory)

To add a splash of color I wore my bright blue oxfords. These shoes are super fun and also comfortable.

To finish off the look I added a darker pink red lip stain from Covergirl.
Fun fact: The guy checking me out at the on campus coffee shop said that I pulled off red lipstick. It kind of made my day (even though it wasn't red lipstick)

Preppy Diaries: Monogram Madness

Preppy Diaries: Monogram Madness

Since I have received my monogram items from I haven't been able to take them off. It's a legit problem everyone I'm telling you.

But how could I? In this outfit I wore my new monogram puffy vest with a chevron button down top. So basically it was preppy overload, but it worked. For an added splash of color I wore a magenta bib necklace. Statement necklaces are a great way to add color into an neutral outfit like this one.

In addition to the necklace I wore a stack of bangles along with a pair of pearl studs. My trusty black boots were also included in this look.

This look is perfect for a casual day. Since it is snowing in Ames now this would be good to wear to class to give you an extra layer of warmth under your coat.

I love the script of this monogram. It's super girly and feminine!

The Basics of Boots

The Basics of Boots

Having a good pair of boots is a must in the fall and winter season. You can wear boots with practically any outfit. Not to mention they are ideal for keep your feet warm in the snow. However, how can you decide between splurging on a pair of boots or going cheap?

Well, I found options that are cute for both ways. They also are very similar to each other, the only difference? The price!

The more expensive options feature Tory Burch, Michael Kors, Steve Madden, and Jessica Simpson. I own brown Michael Kors boots and I absolutely love them. But, I know they are expensive so below I found a pair at Target that look pretty similar in style. Also, the black Jessica Simpson booties look almost identical to the brown Target booties below. I have a pair that look like these from Target that I got on sale for about $9. They are a great pair of shoes and were obviously a great deal!

Steve Madden combat boots are a huge hit. But, you can get very similar pairs at places like Forever 21 for around $30. But, always be a look out for a sale on these because eventually you can get them for a good deal!

Wearing boots with socks is a huge trend this season. So, where can you find affordable boot socks?

Well, all of these socks are reasonable priced. They come from stores like Old Navy, Aeropostale, Banana Republic, J Crew, American Eagle, and LOFT.

OOTD: Sparkle and Shine

OOTD: Sparkle and Shine

Today I had a very sparkly outfit. I wore a rhinestone sweatshirt, a pair of textured black shorts, and a gemmed hat. This hat is one of my favorite fall accessories. I got it a few seasons ago but I still adore it. Because lets be honest who doesn't love a hat that is sparkly and perfect? Nobody. Exactly. Also, a gemmed sweatshirt is a great alternative to a hoodie. An embellished sweatshirt seems so much pulled together and less "I am a hot mess".

A great way to continue to wear your shorts is to pair them with tights. If you have thick tights you can conquer the cold weather with no fears.

Watch Out

Watch Out:

Watches are becoming a huge accessory recently. Everyone is obsessed with having the "it" watch. In my experiences most people have been dying to get a high end watch like a Michael Kors or a Marc Jacobs watch.

Personally, I am also obsessed with this idea because a watch is not only fashionable but practical. Also, watches are great layering pieces for arm candy.

As we all know I am absolutely obsessed with stacking and layering bracelets. Adding a watch to your typical arm candy is a great way to add a more chunky statement piece.

Not to mention I feel like watches are so fabulous and luxurious so who wouldn't want one hanging out on their wrist?

Stacking matching bangles with a chunky watch is a great way to style your watch. It creates not only layers but also texture because of the variety of different bracelets.

The watch is the watch I will be getting for Christmas! {Shhh don't tell anyone I know}

Being glamours while wearing a watch is a classic combo. So grab a glass of champagne and a gorgeous watch and call it a day.

These two are my favorite watches I own! They are both from ASOS.

Preppy Diaries: Blair Is My Spirit Animal

Preppy Diaries: Blair Is My Spirit Animal
"Destiny is for losers. It's just a lame excuse for letting things happen to you instead of making them happen."

So, basically I have turned into a super preppy New Yorker in the past few months. I feel like Blair Waldorf basically everyday {Which I am totally okay with.}

This outfit is one of my favorite outfits in a while. I am wearing one of my new purchases from New York. It is white dress with maroon stripes. It kind of screams fall to me. I layered the dress with a denim button down because what else would I do right?

Another new item I am wearing is another New York purchase. It is a chunky brown rhinestone bracelet from J Crew. It is kind of my obsession along with everything else from J Crew but thats a whole other story.

Around my neck I wore one of my favorite statement necklaces from J Crew. If I could wear this necklace everyday I would. Well, I basically wear it every other day but thats not the point.

Then I wore my favorite hat on the planet. It is a rhinestone French barret type hat. I got this a while ago however it is so darn cute I obviously still wear it.

It was super cold outside this day so I wore a pair of thick brown sweater tights along with a pair of brown tall boots.

Preppy Diaries: Classic Chic

Preppy Diaries: Classic Chic

Although a spur of the moment outfit I really liked my ensemble today. I paired my favorite white button down with this black dress. The ruffle on the bottom makes it super girly and feminine. Not to mention every time I wear this dress I feel like I'm in the Great Gatsby.
To brighten up the look I added a bold magenta bib necklace. {Of course a statement necklace is a must in any outfit.}

{Pearl earrings are a staple item for any preppy girl. I like mine junky and oversized of course.}

{Patterned tights are a great way to add a small texture to your outfit. Not to mention to keep your legs nice and warm.}
