OOTD: Embellished Oxford

For this outfit of the day I was a little more dressed up then normal. To create this preppy look I first wore this gorgeous embellished oxford. Originally around $90 at J Crew I got it on sale for around $25 on clearance! It was such a great deal that I could not pass up. The shirt has a fabulous sequin detail down the side which gives the shirt a glam touch. I paired the shirt with a simple navy skirt. To keep my legs warm on the chilly day I wore thick sweater tights.

To accessorize the look I wore a gorgeous multi-colored statement necklace. I also scored this necklace for under $20 at J Crew! My number one shopping tip is to take advantage of the sale section at J Crew. Most often times they have an extra 40%-50% the sale section. In addition, to my necklace I also wore subtle iridescent statement earrings.

To complete the look I wore Daniel Wellington watch and a Henri Bendel bracelet. For a change in my watch, I switched out my leather strap for my navy and red nano strap. I love Daniel Wellington watches because it gives you the option of changing your strap to make it a completely new watch!

Where it's from:
Shirt: J Crew
Skirt: J Crew (Crew Cuts)
Boots: Madewell
Tights: Nordstrom
Earrings: J Crew
Necklace: J Crew
Watch: Daniel Wellington
Bracelet: Henri Bendel

I'm currently LOVING this oxford! The sequin and ribbon detail makes the shirt a little more special then your average oxford.

OOTD: Party hat on

Lets get the party started!

This bright and colorful hat was a recent Christmas gift. I love this hat for the winter because it adds a great pop of color to any outfit. Plus the hat is made out of corduroy which makes it winter appropriate.

To avoid distracting from my party hat I decided to keep the rest of the outfit basic. For me the basics include:
-A pair of black leggings
-A white button down
-Short brown boots
-Monogram necklace

My outfit included all of these basic pieces in my wardrobe. A simple white button down lets the hats bright colors pop from the look. To add a little bit of extra color I added a bright pink lip color to tie in with the hat.

For jewelry I kept things simple. Pearl studs, a monogram necklace, my KJP pearl bracelet, and my Alex and Ani bangles.

Wearing baseball hats is one of my go-to solutions to a bad hair day. My hair wasn't looking to hot so sliding on a baseball cap fixes all of my worries. Not to mention they are a great accessory! Vineyard Vines is on e of my favorite places to get hats.

Don't you love this hat! I can't get over the color block detailing. Although this hat isn't available on Vineyard Vines website right now they have a great sale going on! An extra 30% off sale items! Be sure to check it out.

Where it's from:
Shirt: Ralph Lauren
Leggings: Aerie
Boots: Michael Kors
Hat: Vineyard Vines
Bracelets: Alex and Ani & KJP
Necklace: Moon and Lola

My current favorite pieces of jewelry are in this look. You have seen these four bracelets in a lot of recent OOTD posts. What can I say, I can't help it they are too classic not to wear with everything!

How to style The Periwinkle Co. bows!

I am currently a campus rep for The Periwinkle Co! The Periwinkle Co. is a line of hair bows and bow ties that are too adorable for words! Their newest collection is pure perfection. My favorite from the collection is this adorable plaid bow. I wear it al the time because it goes great with a lot of my fall pieces. Here are a few ways I like to wear them:

Half up: Pin your hair back with a few bobby pins then stick the bow on top. Its the perfect way to showcase your adorable The Periwinkle Co. bow!
Behind a bun: Another favorite way to wear my Periwinkle Co. bows is to put them behind a bun. Simply put your hair in a donut bun and stick the bow right below it in the back. Its a great way to add a little girly touch to your look.
To the side: Make an adorable bow your side kick! Simply pin back your bangs or hair in the front near your ear then place your bow over it. I love doing this with my seersucker bow for game day. This way you can sport your school colors while looking adorable!

Current favorites from Periwinkle Co! Which is your favorite? Be sure to check out their website and use the code REP for a discount! Want to make an order of custom bows or bow ties? Contact me for more information!

Break Shenanigans: A night in the city

For a rainy night in the city I layered a simple denim shirt with an embellished sweatshirt. Then over top I wore this awesome black cape which is a recent purchase. This coat is great if you are wearing a heavy sweater or a layered look.

Where it's from:
Cape: Nordstrom
Jeans: American Eagle
Shirt: J Crew
Sweatshirt: Aerie
Necklace: J Crew
Bag: Longchamp

For my outfit I wore my The Periwinkle Co. hair bow! I love this plaid one from their winter collection. Use the code REP if you want a discount off their site! Also be on the look out for a post on how I style these adorable bows.

We checked out Forever 21 on Michigan Avenue and I have to say I was impressed. In the past I wasn't a big fan of their quality but it has drastically improved since I have last shopped there! They have some amazing pieces that were very chic. This section and display I loved. I love the idea of pastels for winter

After we ate dinner we stopped at the Ghiradelli store for a little treat, even though we had dessert at the restaurant. But, you can never get enough chocolate! I tried a chocolate bar inspired by wine and it was to die for.

We ate at one of my favorite restaurants downtown Volare. It's this amazing Italian restaurant that is to die for! I ordered the Gnocchi and it is literally amazing. It is for sure my favorite Italian restaurant EVER.

Here are a few snap shots of the city. I love Chicago during the holidays because there are lights everywhere.

The Ghiradelli store is too cute! Reminds me of a vintage soda fountain shop.

One of my favorites store windows that we passed. Although I don't shop at ZARA this window was perfect. I love the twinkling lights and the sparkle it features.

OOTD: Neon Punch

For a cold fall day I decided to bust out my favorite J Crew pants. This pant is called the Skimmer pant and I am in love! I have a few prints and they are great to dress up or down. They are a more mature piece but I like how they have bold and fun prints. I paired my printed pants with a classic blue oxford. An unexpected color combination I would say but it turned out great!

For an extra pop of color I added a few neon accessories. This included a pair of statement earrings, a bold belt, and a fun silicon Marc by Marc Jacobs bracelet. Then for shoes I kept things simple with a camel colored bootie. These booties are super comfortable and I can last all day in them. Surprisingly I got them from Target for only around $9 a few seasons ago!

My arm candy of the day. I can't go a day without my Alex and Ani bracelets. My go-to ones currently are my Pi Beta Phi bangle and my daughter bangle. Also, my Henri Bendel watch is my favorite of the moment.

OOTD: Sweater dress

The best time to wear a sweater dress? All the time! Well maybe not all the time but for sure in the fall time. I am in love with this creme sweater dress. I purchased it last year but I am just starting to find the right moments to wear it. In this look I styled it with a pair of printed polka dot tights. If you have noticed I love wearing fun and printed tights. I think wearing a simple dress with fun tights really makes your outfit pop. I paired the look with wedge ankle booties that I got forever ago.

For accessories I wore one of my favorite J Crew statement necklace. I love this one because it has a lot of pretty jewel tones which makes it a great go-to necklace in the fall. Then I also wore a pair of brown pearl earrings. These are always a great option if I want to mix it up from my favorite classic pearl studs.

OOTD: Tees and Things

For a night full of meetings I decided to dress what I call comfortable chic. Most people don't consider skirts and tights comfortable but I sure do! This skirt is also super soft and loose so it's one of the most comfortable things ever. I paired this heather maroon skirt with a fun graphic tee from J Crew. To keep myself warm I added a simple black cardigan and a pair of plain black tights. To accessorize the look I wore a chunky jewel statement necklace, bow earrings, as well as some of my favorite bracelets. I changed my shoes for my meetings but to class I wore this super fun pair of Kate Spade owl flats. These flats were on super clearance when I bought them so I got them for a steal. This was the first time I have actually worn them so I was pretty excited about that.

This look was super fun and like I said super comfortable. You shouldn't be afraid to wear a skirt or dress around campus! Like I said I think they are just as comfortable as leggings or sweat pants. So, if your feeling daring one day wear something a little out of the box. I know when I feel dressed up I feel a lot more productive and ready for the day versus when I just throw on a sweatshirt and leggings.

OOTD: Casual Pocket

Sometimes I wish I could dress like a boy. I am obsessed with the idea of bow ties, suspenders, comfy pocket tees, and khakis. So, for this look I channeled my inner tom-boy and wore a boys tee. This tee is one of the most comfortable things I own. Its a simple plain white long sleeve with a heather grey pocket.

To compliment the preppy boy-ish style I wore a pair of industrial pants. They are kind of edgy for me but I love them! The pants have a lot of zipper and seam details which make them super unique. Also, I wore my favorite pair of short boots. I wear these boots at least 3 times a week. They are my addiction. I snagged them at the Nordstrom anniversary sale and I am literally in love! Not only do these boots look great with pants but I love pairing them with skirts and dresses.

To complete the look I layered two of my favorite J Crew necklaces. I love the result of these two pieces combine. One is more sparkly and one has more gold elements so they perfectly balance each other. Also I wore my typical Alex and Ani bangles as well as a watch.

Fall Fashion: Vests

Fall Fashion: Vests
Vests are one of my must haves during the fall. They are perfect to layer on days that are chilly but aren't cold enough for a heavy jacket. For this look I paired a light vest with a button down shirt and a tapestry inspired skirt. I love how all the colors came together to create a rich fall color palette. This look is perfect for going to class on a nice fall day. Personally, I think wearing skirts is easier then throwing on a pair of sweats and a sweatshirt. Also, they are just as comfy!

I paired this look with my favorite pair of fall boots at the moment. They are in between a bootie and a tall boot so they go with skirts, dresses, and pants. Then I wore one of my favorite J Crew statement necklaces to complete the look.

This vest from Old Navy is a great dupe for the famous J Crew vests. They are around $30 and are a great piece to have in your fall wardrobe! I got mine on sale later in the year so be on the look out for a deal!
