Lilly After Party Sale 2017: Tips, Tricks, & more!

The time has finally come...... it's the best time of the year, yup better then Christmas, it's the Lilly After Party Sale! I'm sure you've seen the 100 other blogposts about the sale, but this one is coming to you unsponsored and with my personal experience and advice for killing the Lilly sale! My last year's post goes into extensive detail as well, and it's still relevant, so be sure to check that post out at the end of this one! So, without further a do, here are my tips to successfully conquer the Lilly After Party Sale!

Step 1: Set up an account. This is crucial. There is nothing worse then being unprepared (in my mind) and if you don't have an account set up you will be unprepared. So, if you don't have an account create one right now!! Create an account and fill in all of your information including a credit card on file. This makes checking out so much easier, and less stressful. There is nothing worse then stumbling over your credit card and frantically typing in your shipping address. Skip the stress and simply put your items in your cart checkout and go.

Tip: Keep your credit card that you have on file handy. I believe you still have to put in your security code at checkout. Unless you're a shopaholic like myself and have it memorized you'll want it handy.

Step 2: Set those alarms. No joke there is a line seconds within you clicking that refresh button. So be ready. If you're trying to get in the moment the sale starts wake up early, have your devices ready, and you'll be golden. I start refreshing my page over and over about 10 min before it's supposed to go live, just in case it starts early. If that isn't working I get ready to refresh right at the "scheduled" time.

Tip: Use multiple devices! Use your computer, phone, tablet, your mom's computer, do whatever ya gotta do! Obviously if you are just looking for a few casual pieces you don't have to be this intense. But, sometimes if you have multiple devices at once one will load faster then the other. So that does come in handy!

Step 3: Create a game plan. Before each Lilly sale I usually take inventory of the pieces I already have to decide what I want to purchase. Last year I mainly focused on casual dresses. Some years I focused on skorts and traditional shift dresses. Decide what you really need. Don't just buy to buy. If you do you'll end up with cute pieces, but you may have something similar or you just don't have a need for the items. If you really want to get fancy, look around on Lilly's website beforehand and decide what silhouettes you like or specific style names. For example if you know you like the ______ short, look for that specific style name when your shopping in the sale.

Tip: Right down how many Lilly items you have on a piece of paper and keep it with you! Then you can remember what you have and what you need.

Step 4: Be patient. There are thousands of other people doing the exact same thing you are doing. As much as I love to rampage on Twitter about the sale, let's be real there is going to be a line, it's going to take a while to get in. But, it's so worth it. This is your chance to get Lilly goods on major discount, and it only happens twice a year. So, be patient and understand there will be glitches.

Step 5: YOUR IN!!!!! It's go time girls. This is where your plan comes in, go for the key pieces you're looking for. For example, if you want an Elsa top, a dress, and a pop-over. Start with the Elsa top because those ALWAYS sell the quickest. Then go for the pop-over then a dress. There always seem to be a million dresses to choose from. So, if you're not to picky about the dress style or print that can usually wait till you're about to check out. Just think strategically once you get into the site. It's VERY overwhelming to look at all the items at once. Break up your browsing by categories so you can actually look at the items. The sea of prints all on one page can be very confusing, so double check you are getting prints you really like!

Tip: This is where your planning comes in, stick with a plan. Or just have a free for all, you do you. But, I'm a planner girl so I always like having a plan :)

Tip: Know your size!! If you are a new Lilly customer read up on reviews and measure yourself so you can pick the best size. Lilly After Party Sale purchases are final sale so once ya buy there is not returns or exchanges. You can always sell items on a swap page, but you'd obviously rather keep your goodies for yourself! So, just know your size in dresses, bottoms, and tops.

Step 6: Now it's time to checkout. If you know you have items that are popular items in your cart, check out in multiple transactions. It's free shipping so you can have 10 separate orders if you really wanted to. If you will DIE without a certain piece get it in the cart and checkout asap. Then you know you at least got your must-have item.

Tip: Visit a Lilly store if you can! Sometimes they have items that aren't on the website. Also, you can try on pieces which is always helpful.

Step 7: Come back for more. This year the sale is THREE WHOLE DAYS. Holy smokes pray for my wallet. In past years they have released new items on each day, so check back each day for more goodies. Obviously the first day is the main event, but clearly Lilly is trying to throw us for a loop with putting the sale so late, so something tells me they will be dropping new products throughout all three days. I like to check in on things through my Lilly app throughout the day.

Some new things to highlight.... Lilly is doing something new this year by having a pre-shopping event at their stores at 3pm the Sunday before the sale. You bet your bottom I'll be shopping at the Oakbrook location on Sunday! So, if you have the luxury of having a Lilly store I have a feeling it will be worth the visit! Word is that you can even purchase from the pre-sale event so you know I'm down. Also, the fact that the sale is 3 days instead of 2 is something new so I'm interested to see if they bring anything new to the sale in that aspect.

Now, here are a few of my favorite recent Lilly looks.......

My graduation look for my convocation is for sure a favorite! It's made from Lilly's traditional shift dress fabric, but has a super cool unique shape and a great tie detail on the back.

I'm a sucker for Lilly's elephant prints. This is one of four elephant themed dresses I have from them. This is also my favorite style dress from them. Any of their three quarter sleeve cotton dresses are PERFECT for everyday wear. I wear them all the time during the summer. Throw on a jean jacket, Jack Rogers, and some pearl studs and you are good to go.

I also love more unique pieces from Lilly like this two piece pineapple set and this neoprene scuba style dress. Both of these pieces have great Lilly DNA but with modern young twists.

Previous After Party Sale posts:

I am so excited to shop this years sale! The anticipation has been killing me (I see your marketing strategy Lilly, I see it), so I am so excited to get shopping. What pieces are you hoping to pick up? I'm looking for tops and maybe some fun unique pieces.
Let me know in the comments! Happy shopping!

What I wore: Pool Day

I have never splurged on a swimsuit. Like ever. Personally, I never wear swimsuits enough to spend a lot on them. Besides the occasional spring break trip and trip to the pool (maybe twice a summer), I'm not a swimsuit kind of gal. I've always picked up my suits from Aerie, Victoria's Secret (RIP to their originally swim suits), and Target. But, that all changed when I saw this swimsuit.

I found this swimsuit in Florida at Everything But Water. Everything But Water is kind of a high end swim suit boutique that has a ton of one-pieces plus bikinis. They kind of have something for everyone. Whether you are in your 20's or 40's or 50's! But, they are a bit pricey, compared to what I normally spend on a swimsuit.

But, my family is planning a trip to Hawaii soon and I knew I wanted to get a high quality suit for that trip. So when I saw this one on the mannequin I knew I had to try it on. Of course when I trie dit on it fit like a glove, I'm wearing an XS, and I just had to get it. The brand of the suit is Becca and I believe it is available at other retailers beside Everything But Water. One piece suits are super in right now so I had to see what the fuss was about. Let's just say they are so up to the hype! I love this suit! It's been a long time since I've worn a one piece, but I have to say they are super flattering.

This suit has a ton of gorgeous detailing. The low neckline is gorgeous and has some sheer lace like fabric. It also has some unique looking cut outs.

The back has this great cut out detail as well. But, it has some support with the back little tie. The butt isn't a cheeky bottom, which I like. Sometimes when you're at a family friendly pool you want to make sure you are properly covered up!

As for cover-ups I'm a pretty simple gal. I normally just wear t-shirts and running shorts. Nothing crazy. I do have a J. Crew little tunic top I paired with this suit that looked super cute! You don't need a fancy coverup to head to the beach or pool.

OOTD: Tale as Old as Time

I'm mixing up Wednesdays post for a Tuesday post because.... the Beauty and the Beast live action film is released today on DVD! As you all know, I am a huge Beauty and the Beast fan. So, in honor of the release I have a fun Disney inspired look that is perfect for everyday wear.

The main feature of this look is this amazing completely custom denim jacket. This jacket has kind of a cool story. I saw it at the Disney Springs Levi store and I fell in love. It was pricey but I loved it and kept thinking about it after I saw it. I ended up purchasing the jacket on my last day in Disney, literally an hour before we left for the airport! Turns out I found the artist who created my jacket on Instagram. Sugar Sews creates 100% custom embroidered denim jackets. Her work is truly incredible. I was so excited to find her on social media and to thank her for my incredible jacket. It kind of combines everything I love about Beauty and the Beast. Chip and Mrs. Potts are my favorite characters, I love French, and it has my favorite color purple! It truly worked out that it was in my size and fit me perfectly.

So, although I picked up this jacket at Disney Springs, if you'd love a custom jacket like this you are in luck! Sugar does custom orders through her website and you can create ANYTHING you want! Even if you aren't a Disney fan she can create anything.

Just so you know, this isn't a sponsored post. I just really admire Sugar's work and more importantly I wanted to show off my amazing jacket that I am in love with. Sadly I couldn't snap any pictures of it at Disney, because I bought it on my last day. But, I wanted to share it because it is so amazing!

I love styling this jacket with my collection of Beauty and the Beast themed pins. These little buttons are from Box Lunch then the coffee cup pin is from Parkbound Buttons. Box Lunch is an amazing store that carries a ton of pop culture items, including Disney! I've gotten a ton of stuff from them recently. Adding pins or flair to any denim jacket is a great way to customize it and make it your own.

I love wearing a denim jacket to spice up a super simple outfit like this. A simple tan skirt with a white tee allows this statement jacket to stand out and make a statement. Not to mention Levi denim jackets are super thick and durable, which makes them great for throwing on for colder summer nights or for the fall and spring. I've been wearing denim jackets a lot recently. I had a super old one in my closet that I am now wearing on repeat. The great thing about denim jackets are that if you have a great classic one, it will never go out of style!

OOTD: Salty Hair Don't Care

Salty hair don't care! Literally, after a ride in the convertible and the beach breeze my hair was going crazy. But, it is so worth it to walk along Marco Island beach. The Marco beach is my favorite beach of all time! With clear water and white sand it is the perfect vacation destination.

For a simple lunch on the water and a walk on the beach I threw on this cute J. Crew white tee that has an adorable bow detail. It ties in the front and it spices up the otherwise plain white tee. To add a pop of color I paired the tee with pastel purple chino shorts, also from J. Crew.

Again, in the summer I keep my accessories pretty simple. Especially on the beach, you don't want to be weighed down by heavy earrings or necklaces. I paired this look with a simple gold necklace, my normal bracelet stack, and a pair of pearl studs.

Chino shorts and a tee is kind of my go-to summer uniform. It's so easy to throw on and is just an effortless look. Not to mention I prefer chino shorts over your basic denim shorts. They look a little more polished and I find them super comfortable.

OOTD: Monkey in the Middle

I love love love this two-piece set and Lilly Pulitzer print! The print features adorable little monkeys and other tropical animals in this gorgeous purple color. My favorite color is purple, so naturally this set has become my favorite Lilly piece I own. Plus this two piece has the cutest silhouette and shape.

I wore this fun two-piece set to my senior formal, but I am not afraid to re-wear my favorite Lilly pieces. *Lizzie McGuire you are an outfit repeater!* But, not really, one thing I love to do is finding new ways to wear pieces over and over again. I changed up this look by swapping nude high heels with a fun pair of brown lace up wedges, c/o of my mom's closet! I kept accessories simple with a dainty gold necklace and pearl earrings instead of a bold statement earring. Just with accessories you can completely change the way you wear something. To make this a more casual look I'd wear a pair of sandals and throw on a denim jacket.

I wore this fun two-piece to my favorite restaurant in Naples, Florida Continental. It's the best place to get a steak in Naples. We dined earlier then usual and got to eat off the price fix menu, which was great. I opted for the steak and lobster dinner and it was delicious!

Continental is a fancier restaurant, hence my dressed up appearance. Dressing up this two-piece is easy with a fun pair of wedges. Before dinner we did some light shopping, but these wedges were super comfortable so they carried me throughout the evening.

I love the flare detail to these shorts. The fabric is a neoprene material so it makes the set super comfortable. It's oddly super soft too! It's a great outfit for a hot Florida day.

OOTD: Jadelynn Brooke on Vacation

*Way up I feel blessed*
Just kidding, but I do feel blessed that I have gotten to work with Jadelynn Brooke the past two years as a campus rep! Jadelynn Brooke, if you didn't already know, creates some of the CUTEST tees out there. Three sisters started the company and create preppy, southern, patriotic, and now even Disney themed tees! If you love color and fun you'll love these girls.

I love wearing their products to the pool, beach, or to class (when I was in class...). This vacay 2017 tank sadly didn't make it to me on time for my spring break, but I was so happy I got to sport it at the pool while I was on my vacation after graduation. Their tees are incredibly soft and have such amazing colors, like this neon orange!

Jadelynn Brooke also makes accessories! Personally, I use their re-usable tote bags for groceries or just carrying stuff around. They are super durable, fun, and fold up super easily. They also have hats, stickers (who doesn't love stickers!), and so much more. My blessed hat is also from Jadelynn Brooke! No to mention, they have ventured into super cute dresses, plain tees, and more for more everyday wear. But, I still love their t-shirts the best. I recently bought this Disney tee and it is so darn cute. They have a ton of new Disney tees right now and if you are a Disney fan like me you will die over these designs! From Dole Whips to castles they have it all.

OOTD: Shopping Day

Shopping days are the best days! One of my favorite places to shop in the Naples area is Waterside Shops. They have anything and everything designer there. A few of my favorite stops are Kate Spade, vineyard vines, J. Crew, Lilly Pulitzer, and Nordstrom. They also have higher end places like Gucci and Louis Vuitton.

For a day of shopping I opted for one my favorite Lilly pieces this two piece skirt and crop top set. It's one of my favorites because of this great pineapple print. I love how it is a hot pink and green combination. It is so fun and colorful! Perfect for the hot Florida weather. I've worn this set on the blog before, but mixed the skirt with a white button down. These two piece sets are great for mixing and matching with other pieces. It's like getting a ton of outfits for the price of one Lilly dress, which is great.

If you couldn't tell, I've been carrying my Louis Vuitton Speedy 25 with me everywhere since I got it for graduation. This has been my dream bag for as long as I can remember. I feel so grown-up with it, but people still asked if I wanted a kid's menu when I was carrying it, so maybe not fully grown up *insert angry emoji*. But, I love the size and I'm super happy with how much it carries!

*Work that up-do*
Does anyone remember that video? So funny! That's how I felt wearing this low ponytail. I normally don't go for a pony tail but with the hot weather I mixed things up and put it up. I actually really like how it looked. Taking out some small pieces in the front gives the ponytail a feminine touch.

Again, I kept my accessories super simple for this look. When in Florida wearing heavy jewelry gets super hot and it gets all sticky! Gross! That's why I usually gravitate towards a simple necklace, studs, and a small stack of bracelets.
