OOTN: Beta Semi-Formal

It's semi-formal and formal season in the Greek community which means you have to plan your outfit! This past weekend I went to Beta semi-formal and had a blast! So what did I wear to the occasion?

For the night I wanted to wear a more simple dress with a fun pop of color. So, I wore this awesome dress from Tobi.com. Tobi is a great place to get fun party dresses. This one has a cool neck detail but is still pretty covered. Also, I love how the sleeves flow out and are wider at the bottom. To add a bunch of color I wore a bright pair of violet heels. These pumps have a cool heel design which makes them super unique! Then I completed the look with a fun pair of statement earrings that matched my heels. Also, since the formal was a masquerade theme I did my own DIY mask.

What I wore:
Dress: Tobi
Shoes: Sam Edleman
Mask: DIY
Earrings: Old Navy

Here are the steps I did to make my DIY mask! It is was super easy to make and only took 3 basic steps:
1. First I painted my whole mask purple and let it dry.
2. I gemmed certain sections of the mask to add some sparkle!
3. Then lastly I just coated the whole mask in silver glitter.

Do you have an upcoming formal or semi-formal? Let me know in the comments what you are wearing!

March Favorites

MARCH MADNESS
Well my favorites might not be mad but here they are!

March was kind of a crazy month! It was packed with activities, fun, and lots of Pi Phi things which is always the best. Here is a break down of my favorite things of March.

1. Formal: The biggest event for any sorority girl is formal of course! I had a super fun time at my formal wearing one of my favorite dresses from Betsey Johnson of course.

2. The night before spring break: This night was probably one of my favorite of the semester! I won't go into details but it was a really great night of college.

3. Spring break: Break was a super nice well break! I may not have been laying on a beach but I did lay on my couch for a week which was good enough for me. Sometimes it is nice to just sleep in your own bed and be able to hop in your car whenever you want.

4. Frozen: I don't think I need to explain this.... but basically frozen is the best movie ever.

5. Greek Week: Greek Week was such a great experience! It was super fun to be with everyone from the community. You can check out my post about it here: Greek Week post

6. Oxford shirts and pearls: For fashion favorites these are for sure my two favorite things. I have been wearing my Ralph Lauren slim oxfords a lot this month. They virtually go with everything. Basically every girl needs one in her wardrobe. I have a blue and a white one now and I plan to expand the collection. Also, I have been loving my new J Crew pearl necklace. It is a great bold but classic piece.

7. Iowa State Basketball: This month was a good month to be an Iowa State basketball fan! We won the Big 12 conference and also made it to the Sweet 16. Although we did loose I am still so happy that we made it so far in March Madness.

Those are my March favorites! What did you love in the month of March?
(Also, isn't it crazy it's already April??? It's almost summer :) )

Formal Ready Looks

Spring formals are coming around the corner! I recently had my formal last weekend. But, there are still many formals to come. So, the big question is what should you wear for a fabulous formal night?

Well, depending on your school you can go either more casual or very formal. At my school I would say it is in between more casual and formal. Most girls wore a fun cocktail dress and a great pair of heels. If your school is similar here are three looks that will be formal ready.

Edgy: Lets say your not the typical "sorority girl". Well, you can still rock studs and spikes at your formal. Wear a fun dress that has lots of cut outs. This will create a cool and unique look. Pair your dress with a bold and punk statement necklace for a different type of "glam". For shoes, pick something with a metallic and some straps. If you want to carry a clutch carry a fun spiked one. With all of these components you will for sure stand out at your formal.

Girly: But, what if you are a super feminine girly girl? Well, formal will be a piece of cake! For a fun girly look stick with a fun silhouette. Something that hugs your waist tight will be super flattering. This dress also has a fun stripe pattern. But, if you want to keep things more simple find a solid color frock. For accessories find a cute pair of bold earrings that match your dress. Then for shoes wear a fun pair of pumps. These black ones have a fun bow accent that no girly girl could resist.

Boho: If boho is more your scene try and find a fun lace number. This one has a unique sleeve cut out detail so it adds an extra special touch. For accessories find a fun rhinestone head band to wear across your head. Add a stack of bangles and stud earrings for extra sparkle. Then for shoes wear a strappy sandal with thicker straps.
