Συνέντευξη με τους Allochiria

Είμαι δηλωμένος «οπαδός» των Allochiria . Το Post Sludge που παίζουν τις καθιστά μια απ τις καλύτερες μπάντες στην Ελλάδα αναντίρρητα. Ο τελευταίος δίσκος «Omonoia», ένα ευρωπαϊκό tour στην Ευρώπη καθώς και επερχόμενος δίσκος (τον οποίον τον stream-αραν κιόλας) δείχνουν ότι είναι μια μπάντα που ΔΕΝ ΓΙΝΕΤΑΙ να αγνοηθεί.

Ας ξεκινήσουμε λοιπόν :

1.       Πείτε μας για τον νέο σας δίσκο . Σε ποιο στάδιο βρίσκεστε ?

Έχουμε σχεδόν τελειώσει με τις ηχογραφήσεις και ήδη η μίξη των κομματιών βρίσκεται σε καλό στάδιο. Ελπίζουμε πως κατά το φθινόπωρο-χειμώνα φέτος θα είμαστε έτοιμοι.

2. Βλέπουμε ότι το Post είναι στην ακμή του και αυτό είναι πολύ ευχάριστο. Ποια η γνώμη σας?

Είναι ωραίο όταν ο κόσμος ενδιαφέρεται να ακούσει διαφορετική μουσική από αυτά που άκουγε πάντα, οποιοδήποτε κι αν είναι αυτό το είδος. Σίγουρα σαν μπάντα που κινείται προς τον post-metal ήχο, βλέπουμε άλλη αντιμετώπιση στη μουσική μας, κι αυτό, αν μη τι άλλο, θετικό είναι και μας αρέσει, παρόλο που δεν έπαιξε ποτέ ρόλο στο πώς γράφουμε τη μουσική μας.

3.  Στην συναυλία σας με τους Altar of Plagues και τους Year of No Light είδα κόσμο που δεν σας ήξερε ,να παραμιλάει από ευχαρίστηση. Πως είναι να είσαι στο ίδιο σανίδι με τόσο μεγάλες μπάντες?

Η εμπειρία είναι σίγουρα δυνατή και είναι τιμή μας να παίζουμε μαζί με καταξιωμένα συγκροτήματα. Το ωραίο είναι όταν γνωρίζεις αυτούς τους ανθρώπους από κοντά, και βλέπεις ότι έχουν κι αυτοί δουλειές, οικογένειες, δυσκολίες και ζωή χωρίς ροκσταριλίκια, και τότε είναι που ανεβαίνουν περισσότερο στα μάτια σου.

4. Η μουσική σας μου βγάζει πολύ οργή , συναίσθημα και πνευματικότητα. Οι εξελίξεις στην Ελλάδα , ποσό έχουν επηρεάσει την μπάντα στον τομέα της έμπνευσης  και της σύνθεσης?

Το περιβάλλον και η κοινωνία που ζούμε οπωσδήποτε μας επηρεάζουν, δε ζούμε σε μια γυάλα. Όταν γράφουμε μουσική και στίχους, θέλουμε είτε να ξεφύγουμε από τον κόσμο, είτε να τον περιγράψουμε. Όταν γράφουμε για την κατάντια του ανθρώπου, τη σχιζοφρένεια, την απελπισία του, τότε ναι, η ευρύτερη κοινωνικοπολιτική κατάσταση έχει παίξει το ρόλο της.

5. Εκτός από το πολύ καλό project τους  Anticluster και τον επικείμενο δίσκο  ετοιμάζετε τίποτα άλλο αυτό το διάστημα ?

Ο Σταύρος και η Ειρήνη συνεργάστηκαν το 2015 με τον Βασίλη Γκογκίδη από τους Vygotsky Circle στο προσωπικό του project “The Dandelion Fields”, το οποίο κυκλοφόρησε σε split κασέτα με τον Ghone. Φέτος επίσης συμμετείχαν σε καινούριο project του Βασίλη, το οποίο προβλέπεται να κυκλοφορήσει τους επόμενους μήνες. Ο Στέφανος επίσης εδώ και μερικούς μήνες είναι μέλος και των Valletta Str. Project.

Interview With Allochiria

I am a declared fan of Allochiria. Their Post Sludge makes them  undeniably one of the best bands in Greece. Their last album «Omonoia», a European tour and an upcoming album (which the have already streamed) show that they are a band that cannot be ignored.

Let's start:

1. Tell us about your new album. At what stage you?

We have almost finished the recordings already and the mixing of the tracks is well underway. We hope that in this year's  autumn/winter we will be ready.

2. We see that the Post genre is on the rise and it is very pleasant. What is your opinion?

It's nice when people are interested in listening to different music than they listened before, whichever genre it might be. Certainly as a band moved to the post-metal sound, we see a different attitude towards our music, and that, if anything, is positive and we like it, although it has never played a role in how we write our music.

3. In your concert with Altar of Plagues and Year of No Light I saw people who did not know you, going crazy for you. How does it feel to be on the same stage with such great bands?

This experience is certainly intense and it is our honor to play with renowned bands. The nice thing is when you get to know these people and see that they also have jobs, families, difficulties and a life without a bullshit rock star attitude and that makes you respect them more.

4. Your music puts me much anger, emotion and spirituality. How much have the recent developments in Greece influenced the band in terms of inspiration and composition?

The environment and the society we live in certainly affect us, we do not live in a fishbowl. When we write music and lyrics, we either want to get away from the world or to describe it. When writing about the downfall of man, his schizophrenia, his hopelessness, then yes, the broader socio-political situation has played its role.

5. In addition to the very good project Anticluster and its upcoming album, do you prepare anything else?

Stavros and Irene worked in 2015 with Vasilis Gogidis from Vygotsky Circle in his personal project "The Dandelion Fields", which has released a split tape with Ghone. This year they also participated in a new project of Vasilis, which will be released in the coming months. Stephen is also a member of Valletta Str. Project  for several months now.

Οι Postvorta μου ζήτησαν review και είναι καλή ευκαιρία  να ανεβάσω Post μπάντα μετά από καιρό. Φλερτάρουν με τα όρια του Progressive και είναι μουσικοί εγκέφαλοι . Στο στούντιο θα γινόταν χαμός πριν το τελικό Layout. Ακόμα και  αν κοιτάξεις τους τίτλους των κομματιών συνθέτουν  πρόταση. Συνολικά η ποιότητα είναι αυτή που τους χαρακτηρίζει  και από χώρα που ποτέ δεν έχει παράδοση σ αυτό το είδος.

 The Postvorta asked for a review and its great chance to upload Post band after a long time. They tend to touch the Progressive are and of course have within the music feeling. It would have been amazing in the studio before the final layout. Even if you have a look at the titles of the songs they tend to composite a sentence. At the whole, the quality is there theme and of course from a country with no specific tradition at this genre of music.

Η καινούρια κυκλοφορία των Αμερικάνων, που διαδέχεται το πολύ καλό split με τους Monvment, το οποίο κυκλοφόρησε σχεδόν ένα χρόνο πριν και έχουμε δει και σε αυτό το Blog. Η μπάντα αναβαθμίζεται ακόμα μια φορά, γράφοντας 6 ποιοτικότατες συνθέσεις, που ακολουθούν το ρεύμα του γρήγορου, συμπαγούς και ατμοσφαιρικού μοντέρνου post-black metal της αμερικάνικης σκηνής. Είναι ο δεύτερος πολύ αξιόλογος δίσκος, μετά από το Sunbather των Deafheaven, σε αυτό το ύφος. Highlights του δίσκου οι κομματάρες Many Long Fingers Bent In Pain και το Hammer Of Night.

The recent album by this great American act, which follows the very good split with Monvement, which was released almost a year ago and which has been featured on this blog as well. The band is making once again great progress, by writing 6 top quality compositions, that follow the current of fast, dense and atmospheric modern post-black metal of the US scene. This is the second excellent album of this year in this tyle, along with Sunbather by Deafheaven. Highlights of the album, the tracks Many Long Fingers Bent In Pain and Hammer Of Night.

Πρώτο Full Length για τους  Ellende. Οι Αυστριακοί αποφασίζουν να φέρουν την βαρυχειμωνιά λίγο πρόωρα .Επιστρατεύουν γι αυτό τον σκοπό ,βαθύτομες συνθέσεις. Βιολιά και πιάνο βγαίνουν randez-vous, για ανταλλάξουν νότες σε κάποιο εξόριστο δάσος. Ο Lukas πραγματικά ένας μαυροαρτιστικός βραχίονας της μουσικής μας .Του «καταλογίζονται» φωνητικά που γυρνούν εκκωφαντικά σελίδες μοναξιάς, ακουστικές κιθάρες a  la Agalloch στο The Mantle , μπάσο  και υπονομικά ντραμς. Η Άννα καταφέρνει να ημερέψει με το βιολί της αυτό το αδάμαστο στοιχειό. Όσοι λατρεύουν τους παλιούς  Ulver και τους Agalloch  απορώ γιατί δεν έχουν πατήσει το Download ήδη. 10/10

First full-length album by Ellende. These guys decided to bring winter a bit earlier this year, using dark and deep compositions. Violins and a piano go on a date in some wood as exiles. Lucas is really a disciple of the musical Dark Arts. Vocals that breath loneliness, accoustic guitars in the vain of "The Mantle" by Agalloch, great basslines and drumms. Ann manages to tame this beast with her violin. If you love early Ulver and Agalloch, you should press download immediately. 10/10

After the succesful recipy of Il Etait une Foret..., the Canadian blacksters Gris, follow paths that have been tracked before. Dreamwaving that embraces the shit that life keeps throwing at us. Songs, that you won't love with a black heart but with bright logic. A Rimbaud's poem in your pocket for companion. Something that owes everything to itself and a turned back to all the rest. I am rambling again. How can I not? A violin, a piano, two charismatic artists that crush your bones. Keep in mind that this album has an untouched pride. Which means that above ground scene will ignore it. Who gives a FUCK? We are here to help such esoteric "downfalls".

Οι Deafheaven επανέρχονται με ένα εξαιρετικό album. Την παράσταση ανοίγει η καταιγιστική κομματάρα Dream House, που αποτελεί ένα διαμάντι ατμοσφαιρικού blackgaze. To όμορφο instrumental κομμάτι σε πιάνο, Irresistible, στρώνει το δρόμο για το αριστούργημα Sunbather,που δικαίως φέρει τον τίτλο του δίσκου καθώς αποτελεί το καλύτερο κομμάτι του. Ακολουθεί ένας πειραματικός συνδυασμός spoken φωνητικών σε noise φόντο με ένα solo ακουστικής κιθάρας για τελείωμα στο Please Remember, το οποίο διαδέχεται το δεκάλεπτο έπος Vertigo, το οποίο όντως προκαλεί μια όμορφη ζάλη και απώλεια του χρόνου. Έπεται το Windows, το μόνο "ουδέτερο" κομμάτι του δίσκου, το οποίο ωστόσο δεν είναι κακό. Ο δίσκος τελειώνει όπως άρχισε, με μια ομοβροντία συναισθημάτων στο The Pecan Tree. Εμβληματική παρουσία από τα drumms σε όλον το δίσκο. Εξαιρετικό album, σίγουρα ένα από τα καλύτερα της χρονιάς.

Deafheaven are making their comeback with an excellent album. The show starts with the brilliant song Dream House, where the band teaches a lesson about how atmospheric blackgaze is performed. The beautiful instrumental piano piece, Irresistible, paves the way for the masterpiece Sunbather, which rightfully bears the album's title, as it is its best track. What follows, is an experimental mix of spoken vocals with a noisy backround combined with an acoustic guitar solo in the end called Please Remember, which is succeded by Windows, probably the only "neutral" track of the album, which is not bad. The album finishes as it started, with a storm of sentiments in the song The Pecan Tree. There is an overwhelming presence of the drumms throughout the whole thing. Excellent album, surely one of the best of 2013 so far.

Έχω ακούσει πολλές φορές κάποιoν να λέει : ‘’Καλά ρε, σιγά μην ακούσω Post Black Metal , πολύ μελοδραματικό ’’.Την καλύτερη απάντηση σε αυτόν θα την έδινε ο Νίτσε: ‘’ H αρχή του μελοδράματος, βασίζεται στην εσφαλμένη άποψη περί της φύσεως της τέχνης απ την υπόθεση ότι κάθε άνθρωπος προικισμένος με «ευαισθησία» είναι καλλιτέχνης’’ .Ναι φιλέ, ότι έχει αργό ρυθμό , έρποντα μπάσα και πλήκτρα στο παρασκήνιο δεν είναι απαραίτητα μελοδραματικό και άτεχνο .Ώς εν όνειρο κατέβηκε τούτο εδώ το άλμπουμ. Πιστεύω πως το Thaw(ξεπάγωμα) είναι ένας πολύ κάλος δίσκος.Δεν περίμενα απ τους Πολωνούς τέτοιο δίσκο. Έχουν πάρει την γνώση από Μέταλ Τέρατα, την μπόλιασαν  σε ένα φρέσκο μείγμα και η μουσική γλωσσά έκανε την μετάφραση .Οι Πολωνοί έχουν εργαστεί πολύ(σε όλους τους τομείς) για να βγει αυτό το αποτέλεσμα ειδικά στην εγχώρια σκηνή .Εξέλιξη σε ένα άλμπουμ. Άντε να δούμε…

I have many times listened το people saying: "Nah, i ain't gonna listen to Post Black Metal, it's too melodramatic". The best answer to this one comes from F.Nitze: "The beginning of melodrama, is based on the wrong notion of the nature of art, on the hypothesis that every man who is gifted with some level of "sensitivity" is automatically an artist". Yes, my friend not everything that has a slow tempo, low basslines and keyboards in the backround is melodramatic and of no artistic value. This album came to me like a dream. I think that "Thaw"(defrost) is a very good album. I didn't expect such an album from this guys. They got pretty good understanding of the Metal Legends, and they fertilised this kowledge with fresh elements. The language of music made the translation. These guys from Poland have covered all bases with lots of effort and the outcome is really good especially for the local scene. Very nice progress in only one album. Let's see...

Από την πόλη ,που μέχρι και ο Ναπολέοντας απέτυχε να την κατακτήσει(λόγο του κρύου 1812), έρχεται αυτό το ΕΡ να μας ζεστάνει τα αυτιά μας .Είναι το βάπτισμα του πυρρός για τους Toluca. Αν κρίνω απ τις φωτογραφίες ,πρόκειται για μια πενταμελή μπάντα που σκορπίζει ανεπιτήδευτη οργή .Σαν τους 5 αρχαίους δαίμονες – τίτλους  του δίσκου. Όλα εδώ γίνονται χωρίς βλέψεις και σχεδιασμό ,αυθεντικές καταστάσεις δηλαδή. Αν εξαιρέσεις τα σκιστά φωνητικά (τα όποια είναι πολύ ταιριαστά) θα έλεγα ότι ο δίσκος είναι progressive όχι στον ήχο ,αλλά στην ιδεολογία .Ευχάριστα κατατονικό άκουσμα με μια τονικότητα φουτουριστική .Νομίζω ότι οι φίλοι που τους αρέσει το Post Black Metal των Deafknife θα το ‘'ρουφήξουν’’. Έχασα την αίσθηση του χρόνου, μελαγχολώ και γουστάρω. Ήρθε η σειρά σας.

Hailing from the city that not even Napoleon could conquer (due to the cold in 1812), this EP comes to warm up our ears. This one is the "first blood" for Toluca. Judging from the photos, it is a five -piece act spreading its rage all over the place. Just like the five ancient demons that they use as song titles. Everything here happens without a plan, which means a grat deal of authenticity. Vocals aside i would say that this release is rather progressive but in terms of music but in terms of the ideals behind it. Really pleasan katatonic sound and a futuristic tone. I think that our friends who like Post Black Metal in the vain of Deafknife, will love this one. I lost track of time, i am melancholic and i like it. Now it is your turn.

Οι Vestiges σχηματίστηκαν το Γενάρη του 2010 και έχουν κυκλοφορήσει ένα album και τρία split, με τελευταίο αυτό με τους Panopticon που κυκλοφόρησε φέτος. Μουσικά η μπάντα έχει ένα μείγμα hardcore, crust, black metal, d-beat και post-metal επιρροών, το οποίο όμως μορφοποιεί σε πολύ ωραία μουσική. Η μπάντα στιχουργικά εξερευνεί τη σχέση του ανθρώπου με τη φύση και πως εκείνος την καταστρέφει. Οι κυκλοφορίες της αποτελούν μια εξιστόρηση αυτής της κατάστασης που βαίνει προς την εξαφάνιση της ανθρωπότητας. Εξαιρετική μπάντα και εξαιρετικό το split με Panopticon όπως και το full-length "The Descent of Man".

Vestiges were formed in January 2010 and have released one album and three splits, with the one with Panopticon being the most recent one. Musically the band has a variety of hardcore, black metal, crust, d-beat and post-metal influences which works out pretty well though.Lyrically the band narrates the destructive relationship between man and nature. Excellent band and a great split with Panopticon. Also check out their kick-ass full length, "The Descent of Man".

Οι Hesperian Death Horse σχηματίστηκαν το 2011 και αυτός είναι ο πρώτος τους δίσκος. D.I.Y. παραγωγή σε υψηλή ποιότητα και εξαιρετικές συνθέσεις. Η μπάντα παίζει σε καταλήψεις της πόλης και γενικά είναι πολιτικοποιημένη, ακόμα και αν δε φαίνεται στη μουσική της. Το όνομα του δίσκου σημαίνει θάνατος στα κροατικά  και ο ίδιος ο δίσκος είναι το πρώτο κομμάτι μιας τριλογίας σύμφωνα με την ίδια τη μπάντα.

Hesperian Death Horse were formed in 2011 and this is their first album. D.I.Y., but high quality production and superb compositions. The band performs in squats and they are generally into anarchist politics even if you can;t see this in their music. Tne title of the albm means "death" in croatian and the album itself is according to the band the first of a trilogy concept.

Οι Zozobra είναι το πνευματικό παιδί του Αμερικανού μουσικού Caleb Scodield και σχηματίστηκαν το 2006. Η μπάντα έχει κυκλοφορήσει τρεις δίσκους. Σε αυτόν το δίσκο τα τύμπανα έχει αναλάβει ο Aaron Harris των Isis.

Zozobra are the brainchild of the American musician Caleb Scofield and were formed in 2006. The band has released three albums. On this album, Aaron Harris of Isis is playing the drumms.

Οι Apocynthion είναι μια τετραμελής μπάντα που σχηματίστηκε το 2011 και αυτό είναι το πρώτο τους album. Έχουν κυκλοφορήσει ακόμα ένα EP με τον τίτλο "Correlations".  Το όνομα της μπάντας σημαίνει το σημείο εκείνο που στην τροχιά ενός δορυφόρου της Σελήνης, βρίσκεται πιο μακριά από εκείνη. Δυναμικό ντεμπούτο με πολύ ενδιαφέρουσες μελωδίες.

Apocynthion is a four-piece act, formed in 2011 and this their first album. They have also released an EP called "Correlations". The name of the band means the point farthest of the moon in the orbit of a lunar satellite. A very powerful debut with interesting melodies.

Ο καινούριος δίσκος της μπάντας. Πλήρως ορχηστρικός και με κυρίαρχο στοιχείο το ambient. Δεν είναι πολύ του στυλ μου, αλλά υποθέτω θα αρέσει σε κάποιους από εσάς, οπότε ορίστε.
