warp speed

Welcome to a new year of challenges at CAS on Friday. I hope that 2021 is a CAS year, because 2020 was so not CAS!

The first challenge for the year is:

GET WELL

I keep a stash of all kinds of cards except get well. So this was a good way to get started. I wanted to try for something different than the usual flowers so I went through my stamps till I found this set from Paper Smooches.

This is bound to put a smile on someone's face!

You have two weeks to share your get well cards with us at CAS on Friday!

Ground control to Major Cliff

Happy Memorial day everyone! Hope you are enjoying the holiday with friends and or family. Around here Memorial Day is the start of the summer season and everyone heads down the shore. If you are hanging at home you are probably watching a parade to honor our Vets.

Today's card in a round about way honors those vets also. Many of the astronauts are in some section of the military. Whe I was visiting my brother in Bethany Beach, we spent the day at NASA at Wallops Island. It was an amazing place! They have more rocket launches from Wallop's Island than anywhere in the country.

This is the second week for our sketch challenge at Inky Paws. It is fun sketch, but I notice participation is a bit slow moving. Hopefully you all will find time this week to play along.

My card features one of my favorite Newton sets: Cosmic Newton. I also used the starfield stencil. Newton has just taking off from Wallop's Island and is headed into space to save Major Tom or what I really mean is my brother Cliff!!!

Head on over to Inky Paws and join in our new sketchchallenge. We will chose a RANDOM entry to win a $20.00 Newton's Nook store gift certificate. Our favorite entries from each challenge will be highlighted the following Monday, so all entries have a chance to be featured on the blog.

The deadline to enter today's challenge is this Friday, May 31, 2019 at MN CST. The winners will be announced on the following Monday at Inky Paws.

outta this world

Hey there everyone!! It's time for another new challenge at Inky Paws!! We have a fun sketch challenge for you.

I was sharing with my team mates that sketch challenge can be difficult for me. My left brain takes over and I have the tendency to follow them exactly. it is difficult for me to think outside the box.

Today's card is no exception. I followed the rules and stayed within the lines. But  still like the results.
I went with Cosmic Newton and the starfield stencil for my card. As I have said before it's the little touches that make the biggest impact on a card.

Notice how I stamped Newton's head on a seperate piece of paper and cut it out and foam mounted and covered the whole thing with glossy accents to make it look like the glass on his helmut. I did the same with accent pice on his space suit. The moon is just a die cut circle that I attempted to color like the real thing. I finished the card off with just a few sequins to add shine.

Head on over to Inky Paws and join in sketch challenge. We will chose a RANDOM entry to win a $20.00 Newton's Nook store gift certificate. Our favorite entries from each challenge will be highlighted the following Monday, so all entries have a chance to be featured on the blog.

The deadline to enter today's challenge is Friday, March 8, 2019 at MN CST. The winners will be announced on the following Monday at Inky Paws.

I am having a blast!!

If you saw Friday's blog posting you would understand why today's card is so appropriate. Today is my first challenge as a DT member for the Inky Paws Challenge for Newton's Nook and I am having a blast!!

Challenge 76 at Inky Paws is a color challenge. A what fun summery colors they are!!!

My card today uses Cosmic Newton. I just love the chartreuse space ship!! The stencil is the starfield stencil, also from Newton's Nook. It's all in the details. I added glitter to the stencil paste, to make the starts glimmer. The window Newton is peering out of was covered with glossy accents to make it look like glass and alastly a star embellishment to the rocket.

I am saving this card for the husband's birthday. He loves anything space.

Head on over and support me on my first challenge at Inky Paws by playing along. Check out what my fellow DT is showing also. There will be a ton of inspiration. You have two weeks to play along.

House of Cards Challenge

Enamel dots, where did they come from and how did they become so popular? I like them because they are flatter then pearls or gems. Makes the card less bulky for mailing.

There are so many companies selling this fun embellishments, but as you will see over the next four weeks at the House of Cards, there are many ways to make your own.

I tried to think outside the box for my card. I used my enamel dots as stars and planets in the anniversary card that I made for George. He loves all things astronomy and space. I think he will love this card- even if it doesn't feature a teddy bear!

The star banner is from Papertrey Ink, the space ship is an old Amuse stamp (remember when they weren't a Stampin Up wanna be) and Lawn Fawn rounds out the card with the sentiment from their Lucky Stars set.

Be sure to check back each week at the House of Cards to see how the teams were inspired by enamel dots and to see the videos on how to make your own!
