lemons and life

This has actually been a fun challenge over at Inky Paws. The theme is pretty polka dots. Ya gotta give it the dots. As you can see they are quite versatile and the team as well as those who have played along so far have created some really cool things.

My card today uses the "Lemon Twist" from Newton's Nook. This set has lots of fun puns to go with the fun lemon stamps.

I love ice tea and lemonade. It is my go to drink, but growing up my mom said you could never have ice tea when the wind blows, so from November to May we never had ice tea. Even now that I am a grown up and can do what ever I want, I  just can't bring myself to have ice tea when the "wind blows". I might just have to "squeeze the day" and have a glass of "half and half".

You have two weeks to play with this polka dot challenge at Inky Paws! We will chose a RANDOM entry to win a $20.00 Newton's Nook store gift certificate. Our favorite entries from each challenge will be highlighted the following Monday, so all entries have a chance to be featured on the blog.

The deadline to enter today's challenge is this Friday, March 13, 2020 at MN CST. The winners will be announced on the following Monday at Inky Paws.

Jaws

Happy Monday! Time for a new challenge at Inky Paws! It was awesome to see how many of you that joined in the fun for our last challenge. Lots of great cards.

Today's challenge was a challenge for me. We are asking you to use polka dots in your work. Now I just love polka dots, but was having trouble figuring out how that would fit into Newton's Nook stamps and dies. So what did I do? I cheated and did paper piecing.

I have a couple of go to stamp sets and "Shark Bites" from Newton's Nook is one of them. The grey polka dot sharks make me laugh. The waves were also from NN.

Summer Card Camp Week 1, Day 5 Inspiration

I got up early and caught up on day 5 at Summer Card Camp 2.  While Jennifer's card technique was cool (I will try it soon) it was Kristina's card with the embossed acetate window that caught my eye. i used one of the new color combos suggested, not ones I usually work with.

You know me, I just love acetate and I have embossed it before, but never as a window. The card was a bit time consuming but so worth it. A CAS card that takes time. I used an old spellbinder's fish die and die cut them using polka dot paper. I just love polka dots and over at CAS-ual Fridays they are featuring polka dots for this week's challenge.

Don't you love how the acetate is embossed with swirls just like ocean waves? The fish are swing around in the ocean with a backdrop of aqua polka dot paper. The base card is embossed to represent the bubbles fish blow in the water.

Other challenges that I am entering this in are: Just Add Ink- featuring cards using water literally or as an inspiration, Addicted to CAS, featuring water as the inspiration, and Crazy 4 Challenges, featuring marine life.

I wished I had one of those cute little fish sayings like Happy Birthday Fishes so I had to be content with "don't forget to have some fun today".

I apologize for the not so perfect photos- just one of those crazy lighting days.

Have a great weekend!

Enjoy the Ride... dot ... dot...dot... polka dots!!

I have really been enjoying the ride of all the challenges I have been involved in. What a way to stretch yourself! Pretty soon I think school is going to interfere, so  I am grabbing all the time I can.

This challenge over at Just Add Ink inspired me this weekend. Polkadots!! I love them!! So what fun to try and come up with my creative interpretation.

I recently pulled out a couple of Penny Black sets that I bought at one of the conventions in the past few months. These gorgeous girls have been calling me. There is a make up company called Mary Kay Cosmetics. Some of the top sales rep ride around in these fabulous pink Cadillacs. So how about a fabulous pink polka dot caddy!!

I also made the same card with a red caddy.

I hope you enjoyed the ride today! head on over to Just Add Ink and see what others have submitted and add your own work!!
