MJ ALBRIGHT INSPIRED

This criss cross card uses the NEW Stampin' Up! Bali Breeze Designer Series Paper and Eastern Elegance Rub-Ons. Yep, Stampin' Up! has FIVE different Rub-On packages available in the NEW '08 Spring-Summer Catalog & Idea Book (pg. 182, U.S.)!

The medallion for my card was inspired by Mary Jo Albright's card seen HERE. MJ also shows how to achieve the look of the Pumpkin Pie layer of the medallion using the Scallop Punch.

The flower image of my medallion, and the wording on the card insert were achieved with the NEW Stampin' Up! Rub-Ons. (MJ stamped her flower image from the stamp set, A Beautiful Thing, in Versamark and embossed with White Embossing Powder). I have to admit, I was a bit skeptical at first about these Rub-Ons, but after using them for the first time last night, I'm sold! The are so easy to use! Simply cut out the Rub-On image you want to use and remove it from the backing sheet. Lay the image on a flat surface, and firmly rub the image with the stick that comes in the package to transfer it to your project. They can be used on paper and most non-porous surfaces, including glass, photos, clipboards, candles, and more. The Rub-On images are designed to coordinate with many Stampin' Up! stamp sets. Notice how the flower Rub-On for the medallion is the same flower image found in the stamp set, A Beautiful Thing. Each Rub-On package contains two sheets, 1 ea. black and white.

OCTOBER STAMP CLASS PROJECTS

These are the five projects I prepared for my October stamp classes that were held on Tuesday, Oct. 9.

SPOOKY SKYLINE CARD
This first card is a total case from Pam Varnell, The Stamping Addict. See her original card HERE. The only change I made from Pam's original is the addition of the full moon, done by masking with a 1 3/8" Circle Punch. To achieve the Spooky Skyline Scene, brayer the Glossy White CS with the Pumpkin Patch Spectrum Pad (with 1 3/8" Post-It Note Circle temporarily adhered in place), remove the circle then roll the Spooky Skyline Jumbo Wheel across with Basic Black Ink. Allow to dry for a few minutes.

RECIPE
Stamps:
Spooky Skyline Jumbo Wheel (pg. 26), HAPPY HALLOWEEN sentiment from All Holidays (pg. 143)
Paper: Glossy White, Pumpkin Pie, Basic Black, and Old Olive CS
Ink: Basic Black Classic Ink Pad, Pumpkin Patch Spectrum Pad
Embellishments: Pumpkin Pie Grosgrain Ribbon
Tools: Jumbo Stampin’ Around Handle, Brayer w/ Rubber Attachment, 1 3/8” Circle Punch
Supplies: Post It Notes (non-SU)
Techniques: Masking, Brayer

FALL FLOWERS CRISS CROSS CARD
Click HERE for a wonderful Criss Cross Card Tutorial by Beate Johns on SCS. These are super easy to make and are so-o-o cute! The flower on the insert is cut out from the Fall Flowers DP, an Old Olive Brad is placed in the middle of the flower, and popped up with a Stampin' Dimensional. This card also uses the new Stampin' Up! Old Olive 5/8" Grosgrain Ribbon.

RECIPE
Stamps: Priceless (pg. 117)
Paper: Fall Flowers DP, Really Rust, Old Olive and Sahara Sand CS
Ink: Sahara Sand
Embellishments: Old Olive Brad, Old Olive 5/8” Grosgrain Ribbon
Tools: Round Tab Punch, 1/16” Handheld Circle Punch
Supplies: Sticky Strip, Stampin’ Dimensionals

HALLOWEEN POPCORN PULL
These Halloweeen Popcorn Pulls were created using various patterns from the Creepy Crawly DP. The DP was cut 6 1/2" x 9", and scored at 2 1/4" and 6 1/2" to wrap around the standard size microwave popcorn pack. Sticky Strip was used the adhere the bottom and back seam, then the bottom was crimped with the Crimper. The Pewter Jumbo Eyelets were set (in front AND back) with the Crop-a-dile. The Black Grosgrain Ribbon is looped around the popcorn pack, threaded through the Pewter Jumbo Eyelets, and tied in a bow.

2-5-7-10 AUTUMN HARVEST BOX

This 2-5-7-10 Box is a total case from Deborah Southard, aka debils on SCS. See her original box HERE. HERE is a tutorial for a 2-5-7-10 Box by Jenn Balcer. This box was made shorter than the one in the tutorial, measuring 5" tall. Instead of scoring at 2" in Step 2, CUT at 2". The pumpkins from Autumn Harvest (pg. 6 of the 2007 Holiday Mini) were stamped in Black Classic on Pumpkin Pie CS and cut out. The smaller pumpkin is raised up on Stampin' Dimensionals. The leaves on the Old Olive CS were stamped in Versamark.RECIPE

APPLE CIDER DP CRISS CROSS CARD CASE

I'll admit it ... I'm a SCS lurker, and have oodles and oodles of fabulous cards saved in my favorites. Quite often, I come across a fabulous design that I feel compelled to CASE (Copy And Steal Everything). This Criss Cross Card was one of them by ncmorgan. See her original card HERE. Click HERE for a tutorial for Criss Cross Cards.

The only things I changed from ncmorgan's original design: a) omitting the hemp twine going around the card band, b) omitting the three eyelets on the band, and c) I think she used Pewter Brads and Eyelets ... I used Antique Brass.

I just love the way ncmorgan designed the layered medallion! The center of the medallion is Apple Cider DP punched with the 1" circle punch with an Antique Brass Brad in the center. The next layer is Really Rust CS pierced using the Priceless Classy Brass Template and punched with the 1 1/4" Circle Punch, then a 1 3/8" Circle Punch layer of Wild Wasabi CS, and then Really Rust punched with the Scallop Circle Punch and pierced on the scallops.
I also loved ncmorgan's unique tab on the insert portion of the Criss Cross Card. The small starburst from Baroque Motifs is stamped in Wild Wasabi on Wild Wasabi CS and punched out with 3/4" Circle Punch. An Antique Brass Eyelet is in the center of the starburst with the hemp twine threading through and around the Round Tab Punch and tied.RECIPE

Stamps: Baroque Motifs (pg. 126)

Paper: Really Rust, Wild Wasabi and Very Vanilla CS, Apple Cider DP (Holiday Mini '07, pg. 19)
Ink: Really Rust and Wild Wasabi Classic Ink Pads
Embellishments: Hemp Twine, Antique Brass Eyelet and Brad
Tools: Round Tab Punch, 3/4", 1", 1 1/4", 1 3/8" Circle Punches, Scallop Circle Punch, Priceless Classy Brass Template
Supplies: Stampin' Dimensionals, Sticky Strip
