JULY INKSPIRATIONS CHALLENGE GUEST DESIGNER

I've been keeping a little secret that is a pretty big deal to me ... I'm the July Guest Designer for Makeesha Byl's Inkspirations Challenges! Makeesha is an incredibly talented stamper and Stampin' Up! Demonstrator in Australia ... you didn't know the international stamper I'm becoming, did you?! LOL!

This first challenge was just that! I can't tell you how many times I stared at this photograph! At first I was completely focused on the painting hanging on the wall which made me think of lighthouses, nautical, etc. I live in the Arizona desert, so I don't own a whole lot of nautical images! I then started focusing on the food and tea on the table - only to realize that I don't own a whole lot of food images either. I ended up going with the overall "feel" of the whole photo which reminded me of a quaint bed and breakfast. The blue and pattern of the tablecloth led me to the Bella Bleu Designer Paper. I chose one of my favorite sentiments from All Holidays as my main image, and was thrilled to have a reason to use these cool Jumbo Brads!

I hope you'll play along with this week's Inspiration Challenge #9 ... I'd love to see what you come up with !!!
RECIPE
Stamps: All Holidays
Paper: Bella Bleu DP, Not Quite Navy, Kraft, and Very Vanilla CS
Ink: Not Quite Navy
Embellishments: Very Vanilla 5/8" Jumbo Brads
Supplies: Stampin' Dimensionals

CASE-ing JENNA and KAREN

The other night, I wanted to stamp something quick and easy without spending a huge amount of time designing. There were a couple of brilliantly designed cards I've been itching to CASE so I tackled those ....

This first card CASES this card by Jenna Millsap, A "Sap" For Stamps. I love Jenna's use of the felt flurries inside the metal edge tags against the Whisper White background! The only things I changed from Jenna's card was to use round metal edge tags verses the square ones, and I backed the tags with Scallop Circles. RECIPE
Stamps:
Best Yet

Paper: Whisper White, Baja Breeze, and Riding Hood Red CS
Ink: Riding Hood Red
Embellishments: Felt Flurries, Metal Edge Tags, Red Circle Rhinestone Brad
Tools: Scallop Circle Punch

This next card is a case of this card by Karen Giron, the sweetest thing. I was thrilled to use up some of this print from last year's Dashing DP (now retired) ... I have a ton of it! Just like Karen, I trimmed around the Whisper White Curly Punch piece to make it smaller than the Real Red Curly Punch piece. I think Karen used small red rhinestones on her tree ... I used X-mas Red Stickles. The tree is an upside down party hat from Party Hearty.

RECIPE
Stamps: All Holidays, Party Hearty, Cute & Curly
Paper: Whisper White and Real Red CS, Dashing DP (retired)
Ink: Real Red and Old Olive Classic Ink Pads, Close To Cocoa Stampin' Write Marker
Embellishments: Old Olive 5/8" Grosgrain Ribbon, Yellow Rhinestone (non-SU), X-mas Red Stickles (non-SU)
Tools: Curly Label Punch

Supplies: Stampin' Dimensionals

EVOLUTION OF A FATHER'S DAY CARD

I found this quite fascinating and thought I would share it here with you. This is a wonderful example showing how much stamping artists are inspired by one another!

Remember the card on the left? It's a card I designed, case-ing ...

Michelle, sf9erfan FS63 on SCS, who cased ...
Silke Ledlow, Sparklegirl FS63, who cased ...
Faith Hofrichter, markie's mom, the ORIGINAL artist

The first photo below shows a card my dear friend Wendy Bond (joelysmom on SCS) made case-ing me! I love the whole new look this card took by using the bright colors from Spring Break DP!

by Wendy Bond ...

This next photo is my friend, Lorri Heiling's 4th of July version of the card! I had the pleasure of seeing this card IRL last week when Lorri and I met for brunch at Paradise Bakery!
by Lorri Heiling ...
One more! Scroll to the bottom of THIS POST to see Roxy's (Corinne Somerville) case.

That's SEVEN versions of ONE card! Cool, huh?!

SCS FEATURED STAMPER CHALLENGE FS66 LOVETOSTAMP6

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY to all mothers out there! Hope you're able to get a little pampering in for yourself today! I'm doing exactly what I want to be doing ... STAMPING (in my jammies!)! It's been an extremely busy week, and I haven't stamped a single thing all week! In fact you'll be able to see by the looks of this card that I haven't stamped all week! ... let's call it my warm-up card! It cases THIS CARD by Jennifer Meyer, lovetostamp6 for SCS Featured Stamper Challenge #66. Jennifer's blog, Jennifer's Sweet Designs, is so appropriately named because her designs are truly sa-weet! (and she is too!) In my humble opinion, Jennifer has a wonderful way of working with soft, pastel colors and her style is feminine and romantic. Her gorgeous gallery can be found HERE.

Things I changed from Jennifer's original include: a) I used Rose Red instead of Soft Sky for the monochromatic color scheme, b) I used the Swiss Dots Cuttlebug Embossing Folder instead of Textile Texture, c) I used three half-back pearls on the right side instead of a Prima Flower, d) my scallop border was created using the slit punch versus the corner rounder punch, e) I didn't use ribbon.

There's a little secret behind my card ... I have never invested in the Stampin' Up! Pretties Kit! *gasp* I'm hoping to earn it for free with my demonstrator rewards points because I truly do love it! My half-back pearls were found at my local Michael's store, and they are from the Martha Stewart Crafts line.
RECIPE
Stamps: All Holidays
Paper: Rose Red Prints DP, Rose Red and Whisper White CS
Ink: Rose Red Classic Ink Pad
Embellishments: Half-Back Pearls
Tools: Slit Punch, Swiss Dots Cuttlebug Embossing Folder
Supplies: Stampin' Dimensionals

I just want to take a Mother's Day moment to brag about my kiddos, and as always will try to keep it short and brief. First of all, Allie was pleasantly surprised to receive a special award at her Band Banquet Friday night ... Section Leader of the Year !!! The look on her face when her band director called out her name was just priceless ... I'll never forget it! I'm so stinkin' proud of her! She surprised me this morning with a gorgeous photo frame, and in it was a picture of her and Drew! I've always told my kids ... "don't spend money on gifts for me just for the sake of buying a gift"! The way I look at it is there's never enough money to go around to pay for all the stuff we NEED, let alone going out and buying things we don't NEED! Allie took it upon herself to spend HER hard earned money on my gift this year. It, along with her beautiful card, sent me to tears this morning!

Drew is on a road trip to Sedona with his friend, Alex and his family for the day. On the phone, this morning, he said I could go get my present out of his backpack if I wanted. LOL! I told him I'd wait until he got home this evening. Drew could do without all the mushy stuff!

One more thing .... there's still time to enter to win the iCANDY in the previous post! As of this writing, there are 237 entries! WOW! My inbox is goin' CRAZY!!! I have quickly read each and every one over the past couple of days, and look forward to reading them in great detail over the coming week! It's been fun reading about YOUR stamping background, and am thrilled with the questions you've come up with for me! I'll be selecting a winner Monday morning (5/12).

JERSEY SHORE FATHER'S DAY

Today, I broke a record for myself ... I completed four cards and three of them were challenge cards! The way I did it was so easy, I almost feel like I cheated! My inspiration started with THIS CARD by Angie Tieman, schwooo!. Here is my version of Angie's card:
Every week, I wish for more time to complete three of my favorites challenges: Beate's Weekend Sketch Challenge, Jen del Muro's Sketch For You To Try, and Julee Tilman's Mojo Monday Challenge. After completing the card above, I realized that I could use the same supplies for each of these challenges.

Here are the supplies I kept on my work station to complete the four cards...
Stamps: All Holidays
Paper: Jersey Shore DP, Whisper White, Pumpkin Pie, Wild Wasabi, Brilliant Blue, and Bashful Blue CS
Ink: Wild Wasabi Classic Ink Pad, Pumpkin Pie and Brilliant Blue Markers
Embellishments: Brilliant Blue Brads and Pumpkin Pie Striped Grosgrain Ribbon
Tools: 1/4" and 1/2" Circle Punch

Supplies: Stampin' Dimensionals
Helpful Hint: When creating the circles behind the brads, poke the hole through cardstock with the paper piercing tool on the mat pack before punching the cardstock with the 1/4" and 1/2" circle punches.

This card is for Jen del Muro's Sketch For You To Try.
This card measures 4 1/4" x 4 1/4", and uses Beate's Weekend Sketch Challenge #43.
And finally, this card uses Julee Tilman's Mojo Monday #33 Sketch. This card also measures 4 1/4" x 4 1/4".
Thanks for looking!
