HELLO YOYO YELLOW

I really should be cleaning house and setting up for tonight's weSTAMP meeting (we're swapping tonight so watch for a post with our swap cards within the next day or so). I started this card late last night, and just couldn't move on to other things until I finished it and posted it.

I used two of my favorite challenges to create this card ... 1) Stacey's Jewelry Color Inspiration Challenge #43 of YoYo Yellow, Kiwi Kiss, Pink Pirouette, and Very Vanilla. I can't tell you the last time I even touched YoYo Yellow! I'm
a sucker for an unusual color combo so this was right up my alley! ... and 2) this awesome Mojo Monday Sketch #93.

This stamp set, Pretty Amazing, is retiring today. It has always been one of my favorites, and I can't believe how short lived it was. Click HERE to see other cards I've created using this stamp set.

TOMORROW afternoon, I will be placing a Stampin' Up! order for the first round of Designer Paper and Ribbon Shares! Don't miss out !!!!
RECIPE
Stamps: Pretty Amazing
Paper: Bella Rose DP, YoYo Yellow, Kiwi Kiss, and Very Vanilla CS
Ink: Kiwi Kiss
Embellishments: Pink Pirouette Flower Fusion Too, Kiwi Kiss/Very Vanilla Satin Ribbon, Yellow Circle Fire Rhinestone Brads

LAYERED SCALLOP EDGE MEDALLION TUTORIAL

I've received many e-mails asking how to achieve the Layered Scallop Edge Medallion that I've used on some of my cards lately. You're going to be surprised to find that it's quite easy!

First, follow THIS TUTORIAL on SCS by Alesha Walls
which shows how to make a Single Layer Scallop Edge Medallion. The outer Pink Pirouette scallop square on my card pictured measures 2 3/4" square as demonstrated in the tutorial. For the next smaller layer (my Basic Gray layer on my card), cut a 2 5/8" square and do the same punching with the Scallop Edge punch that you did with the 2 3/4" Pink Pirouette square - centering on each edge. The 2 5/8" Basic Gray square is layered on top of the 2 3/4" Pink Pirouette square.

Measurements for this card pictured, starting with the outside layer:
* Basic Gray base - 4 1/4" x 8 1/2", scored at 4 1/4"
* Pink Pirouette - 4" square
* Walk In The Park Designer Paper - 3 3/4" square
* Pink Pirouette Scallop Edge Medallion Layer - 2 3/4" square
* Basic Gray Scallop Edge Medallion Layer - 2 5/8" square
* Basic Gray main image frame - 1 3/4" square
* Whisper White main image - 1 5/8" square

You can see more details about the card pictured HERE (scroll down to bottom of post). Other cards I've made using the Layered Scallop Edge Medallion technique ... So Saffron Flight of the Butterfly and Thanks A Bunch (Layered Scallop Medallion measures Basic Black 2 7/8" square and Certainly Celery 2 3/4" square). The possibilities with layering and square sizes are endless!

Laurie Froehlich, Inspired Designs was the first artist I've seen to use this Layered Scallop Edge Medallion technique, and my cards have been completely inspired by her designs. You will see that she's taken the technique a step further by adding additional layers, cutting off the outer frame, etc. You can see her Layered Scallop Edge creations HERE, HERE, HERE, and HERE.

TRUE FRIEND

Thanks for all the encouraging comments about my blog makeover! The polka dots really aren't my favorite but there's not a whole lot of choices when you're looking for FREE 3-column layouts.

I used the stamp set True Friend with Autumn Vine Designer Paper. The sentiment is from the new stamp set Teeny Tiny Wishes found in the new '09-'10 Idea Book & Catalog. Again, I used the Scallop Edge Medallion technique to frame the main image. You can find a tutorial for this technique HERE.

LOOKING FOR SOME HELP FROM A BLOGGING FRIEND

Edited to Add: I got rid of the ad below my first post - (thanks to Sam!). Thanks for all your offers to help ... I'll be getting a hold of a couple of you soon (the day has gotten away from me!).

Even though I've been blogging for about two years, I have a handful of "blogspot questions" that I haven't been able to answer myself, and sometime down the road I would also like to attempt giving my blog a new look. I'm looking for a stamping/blogging friend that considers herself knowledgeable in Blogger and would be willing to spend some time on the phone with me to answer the questions I have. If you're that person, please e-mail me with your phone number at nrileycm@cox.net.
I would so appreciate your time in helping me! THANK YOU !!!

(One of the questions I have is how to get this advertisement off the bottom of my latest post ... ugh!)

CLASS for LOCAL PHOENIX STAMPERS

If you live in or near the Phoenix area, you are invited to attend my next stamp class on Thursday, June 25 at 6:30 p.m. E-mail me for more details .... nrileycm@cox.net.

I've been on summer break from work (I work at a school), and have been having a blast stamping every day! I have a new job for next school year -- same school district, new school, new position. I am in training for it this week which leaves little time for stamping. So, for this week's blog material I thought I'd share with you some designs that I've CASEd (Copy And Steal/Share Everything) recently.

This card CASEs Jill Hilliard's Manchester Masculine card. I love it when I find a great design for a masculine card! I paired my version with To The Nines Specialty Designer Paper, and used the same stamp set that Jill did - Think Happy Thoughts.RECIPE

THANKS A BUNCH

Dawn McVey's Raspberry Suite Color Challenge #9 uses the colors of Grass Green, Black and Cream. My personal Stampin' Up! interpretation of the green is Certainly Celery, and I accidentally used Whisper White instead of Vanilla. I don't think I've ever used Certainly Celery with Basic Black, and I kind of like it!

This card is very similar to THIS Scallop Border Medallion card I posted a couple of days ago. I just couldn't resist using this technique again --- it's so easy! In case you missed it, you can find the tutorial for the Scallop Border Medallion HERE. My Certainly Celery Scallop Square is 2 3/4" x 2 3/4" and bordered by a Basic Black piece that measures 2 7/8" square.

WALK IN THE PARK GET WELL WISHES

Today's card uses Jen del Muro's Sketch For You To Try 6/13/09. I'm borrowing my sister-in-law Norene's new Sizzlits Dies - Daisy Flower and Little Leaves. The die from Little Leaves is turned upside down, and a couple of the small leaves are cut off to make it look more like a flower stem. The designer paper is Walk In The Park and the Baja Breeze Corduroy Brads are both from the current Occasions Mini Catalog. The sales period for this catalog ends June 30, so if you haven't gotten everything you want out of it there's still time! The "get well wishes" sentiment is from the new stamp set called Teeny Tiny Wishes in the new Stampin' Up! Idea Book & Catalog coming out July 1.

As always, all products used in my projects are Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted.

RECIPE
Stamps: sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes

UPCOMING PAPER SHARE and HAPPY MAIL

I'm gearing up for a new Stampin' Up! catalog coming July 1 and wanted to let you know that I will be doing another paper share. Once I get a new catty in my hot little hands I'll be able give you more details and determine whether I'll be doing an embellishment share and/or ribbon share. I've had so many people that ordered paper and embellishment shares from me last catalog contact me asking if I'd do one for this catalog. What a great way to get a sampling from each new designer papers! Keep checking back for details!

(In case you don't know what a paper share is .... you receive a 6 x 6 sheet of each and every Stampin' Up! designer paper at a fraction of the cost it would be to purchase a full pack of every designer paper pack.)

Look at these Papertrey Ink Vintage Buttons! I won these on the Stamp Out Alzheimer's website from Stampin' Pam. I can't believe how many cool button are in each package ... so many varieties and sizes! The colors are Sweet Blush and True Black, and there are many more to choose from on their website.My friend and SU downline, Jennie Portonova made this card for my daughter Allie. This pink is sooo Allie ... the color of the walls in her room!

MAKING BECKY PROUD

You've probably seen many versions of the very popular Becky Roberts' Tote-ally Awesome Tote over the past several months. Becky sells the tutorial for this tote, cards & accessories (among other tutorials) on her blog, Inking Idaho. Her tutorials are incredibly detailed and thorough, full color, and super easy to follow. She's a genius!

For our March weSTAMP meeting, we decided to do something a little different by putting the "meeting" aside and make Becky's Tote-ally Awesome Tote. Each weSTAMPer made their own tote with their own selection of designer papers. I had a little trouble with mine. As I've mentioned before, I don't stamp well with others and that night was a prime example. Mine ended up in the trash! Well, Ms. Becky Roberts got wind of it, and got alot of enjoyment out of teasing me about it! It was just the motivation I needed to complete the tote in my own craft space ... alone! I tackled the tote a couple of weeks after our meeting, and was able to get around to completing the cards and accessories last weekend. Becky will be so proud when she sees it !!!

I'll be sending my tote to my mom ... I intended to have it done by Mother's Day ... then by my mom's visit to Phoenix last week. Neither happened but am happy to be mailing it to her now! I didn't stick with one stamp set for my cards and accessories, but did stick with the Parisian Breeze Designer Paper.
The tote opens to hold a collection of greeting cards. I used Parisian Breeze Designer Paper for the inside pockets instead of acetate as demonstrated in Becky's tutorial.Post-It Note Holder, Bookmarks, and Calculator Keychain (altered with Parisian Breeze DP) ...
THANKS FOR LOOKING!!!

I'LL MISS YOU, DOODLE THIS!

Today's card ... (listen to me ... I post original designs four days in a row and act like I'm a regular daily poster!) ... uses Stacey Schafer's Jewelry Color Inspiration #40 based on this Springtime Garden Bracelet with the colors of Garden Green, Certainly Celery, Pretty In Pink, and Whisper White. Such a fun colors combo! I can't tell you the last time I used Garden Green! I'm ashamed to say that I've never played along with Stacey's Jewelry Inspired Challenges but have always admired them and followed along ... what a great concept!

I also used Julee Tilman's Mojo Monday Sketch #90 with the soon-to-be-retired stamp set, Doodle This. This is probably the stamp set on the retiring list that I will miss the most. Click HERE to view the many cards I've made and/or designed with this stamp set over the years.

The large Doodle This flower image is stamped in Basic Black onto Pretty In Pink Prints DP three times, cut out, then staggered on top of each other. I used the handle of a paper piercer to curl the petals for depth.
