Beautiful Birthday Girl w/Kara ft. HELLO & THANKS

Hello! I'm back again with a clean and simple card design that reminds me of a Victorian style photo frame. A lot of the detail is created with texture from some of my favorite dies. Brightly colored florals accentuate the focal point and make it pop. With the help of the many customizable sentiment stamp sets, this is a design that can be used for any occasion.

To begin creating the 'frame' I die cut a piece of white cardstock using the Sunshine Layers Die, a real classic. I placed the large oval die, from the Basic Labels Die, in the center and ran it through my die cut machine again. Using a scrap of black cardstock, I die cut the oval once more in order to place behind the opening and add a shadow to the left side.

Again in black, I die cut the word 'beautiful' from the Beautiful Butterflies Die. I positioned the letters inside the oval window and adhered them to the card base beneath with some liquid adhesive.

To add that pop of color I used floral clusters from Hello & Thanks colored with Copic markers. I added a hint of shimmer to the flowers with a clear Wink Of Stella pen before adhering them around the oval opening with dimensional adhesive.

Finally, I added the secondary sentiment to the inside using the Hand Lettered Hello stamp set. This is when you can really customize the card to your recipient and the occasion. I love being able to create a card in advance and then decide later how I'll use it.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

GUEST ARTIST FEATURE: Clean and Simple Cards w/Laurie Willison

Hello there! It's Laurie Willison here from Soapbox Creations. I am so excited to be a guest today on the WPlus9 blog. I am a clean and simple stamper and Dawn's designs are perfect for my kind of cards! I have a couple cards to share with you today so let's get started.

This first card showcases 2 of my favorite WPlus9 products. The first is is Sunshine Layers Die set and the second is the new sentiment set called So Very. The die set is just a must have in your crafting stash. So many fun details included to create all kinds of cards. The sentiment set? Well, I am a font nerd. I adore gorgeous handwritten fonts....as I can't hand write pretty on my own (hehe!)....so when I can stamp it...it makes me happy!

Here is my first card...

To create this card, I grabbed a white card base and a white card front panel. I die cut the front panel with the Scalloped Frame that comes in the Sunshine Layers Die set. Using my Misti, I perfectly placed the sentiment and stamped them all at once in Versafine Black Onyx ink. Next, I die cut the rainbow and the clouds all in white cardstock. This step saves you some die cutting if you like a quick and simple card like I do. I grabbed 4 Copics and colored up the bows in those fun bright colors. Next, I added the clouds to the bottom of the rainbow and added some foam tape so I could pop up those gorgeous die cuts. Last, I added some little clear acrylic droplets on the front. I love how the colors in the rainbow pop from the card!

Another new set from the last WPlus9 release is called Beautiful Butterflies. I just love the big block sentiment included in the set...

To create this card. I grabbed a white card base, some patterned paper for the background and a white card front panel. Using my Misti again, I stamped the sentiment in black ink. I grabbed the set called No One Else and stamped some of those adorable blooms and greens all around. I kept this super simple by keeping that flat front card with no embellishments.

Last, I took the card front and popped it up on fun foam just for a little dimension off the card base. These flat cards are easy to stick in the mail without using a padded envelope.

I hope you've enjoyed my quick and simple cards today. Thanks to WPlus9 for letting me hang out today! Thanks so much for having me. Hope you all have a great day!

~Laurie

Hey Sweetie Shaker Card w/Joni

Hello Everyone, Joni here sharing an easy fun male card using the new Sucker For You Die.

To begin, I first die-cut my card base from Kraft cardstock with a size of an A2 card. Then I die-cut a white cardstock and vellum using the stitched scallop from Sunshine Layers Die.

Next, I die-cut the fun pieces from the Sucker For You Die for the focal point of the card.

I created a standard shaker card from the base, and adhered the sucker pieces to the front of the vellum. To fill the shaker, I used the star confetti from Pretty Pink Posh, glueing a few stars directly to the vellum on the inside. This way some of the stars will stay up and the others will fall down for your shaker.

And here's another look at the finished card all assembled.

I hope you liked this fun card! Until next time...

Stretching Your Dies w/Kara

Hey Guys! Recently married friends of ours bought their first new home together. We're heading over there tonight for dinner and I wanted to bring them something special as a housewarming gift and of course a handmade card to go with it.

This card features almost no stamping! The design is created mostly with die cuts. I knew I wanted to use this cute house from Holiday Houses. However, since this is not a holiday card I didn't want the house to have wreaths on it. I decided to use the die alone and then the design was built around that. I colored the house with Fairy Dust Dye Ink using a sponge dauber. I die cut the words New Home using the Whimsy Alpha Die. I thought it would look cute to replace the letter "O" with the house die. The letters were colored in the same way using Shell Pink Dye Ink.

The scale of the house is a little larger than the letters, but I thought that worked perfectly to put the focus on the house and bring the scene to the foreground. I chose the other elements in the scene from the Sunshine Layers Die. Color was added to them using Lake House and Falling Star Dye Inks. I used the Big Top Background stamp to create the subtle sunrays in the background stamped in Fairy Dust Dye Ink. Finally, I stamped "Congratulations" at the bottom using a stamp from the Big Bold Greetings stamp set.

I'm looking forward to dinner tonight and seeing our friends' new home.

Thanks so much for coming by today! Hopefully this gives you some ideas for looking at your companion dies in a little different way.

We thought we'd kick of this release with a dose of cuteness overload! But don't worry, this is the kind of cute anyone can get behind. Cute and sweet, yet charming with a hint of whimsy - thanks to the wonderful illustration style of Stephany Zerbe.

Today, I'd like to introduce you to the Little Dreamers stamp set and Little Dreamers Companion Die. And, if you like this set, you'll love the sister set that will also be available - Stardust

Stardust

See what I mean? And if you think they're cute in black and white. Check them out in full on color!

I wanted to create a deep yet vibrant night sky as a backdrop for these little guys. And I knew that a distressed ink blending technique would be perfect for this. I began by distressing a white cardstock panel with Tim Holtz Distress Inks in Chipped Sapphire and Peacock Feathers. Then splattered it with water and let it dry to create the spattering of water marks to break up the solid color. Then, I added some gold splatter using Gansai Tambi Starry Colors.

To color the cute critters, I stamped them all in a Copic safe ink and then colored them with Copic Markers.

I die-cut the distressed panel using the scalloped rectangle from the Sunshine Layers Die and adhered the die-cut images with foam tape. I stamped the sentiment "Reach for the Stars", also included in the same stamp set in PURE COLOR Dye Ink in Black. I decided to also distress the card base with Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Chipped Sapphire to match the distressing on the focal panel. Some sequins from Pretty Pink Posh finish off the card.

I couldn't stop at one card. So for this second card, I wanted to create an all-over background by simply stamping the images directly on my card panel and coloring them with Copic markers.

This time I mounted it onto a pink card base for a pop of color. The sentiment was white heat embossed onto black cardstock and also adhered with foam tape to finish off the card.

I hope you've enjoyed today's preview. Be sure to stop by again tomorrow for a look at another new floral set!
