Black And White Birthday w/Kara

Hello! Today, I thought I'd have a go at taking a feminine set - Flock Yeah! - and giving it a masculine feel.

Now, I said I was going to challenge myself not to use black on my next project and I failed. Even though I failed my personal challenge, I was successful in creating a card that I love. These flamingos in shades of black and gray look so cool! As they say, If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

I started stamping my background by placing the main flamingo in the center of my card panel. Working off that main image I stamped vertical rows of flamingos. I stamped them head to head and toe to toe. I knew that center flamingo was going to be my focal point so I stamped and die cut another and colored it with gray Copic markers (T1, T4, T6). I added black Copic coloring to all of their beaks and some clear Wink Of Stella because it just looks so pretty. I finished off the design with some party accessories and a sentiment from Oh My Gostrich! (the "brother" set of Flock Yeah!)

Speaking of Oh My Gostrich! This design would look equally as great swapping out the flamingos for the ostrich.

Hopefully this gives you some ideas. Take a look at your stash and see if there are any "feminine" sets that could fit a masculine theme just by switching up the colors.

Thanks so much for stopping by today.

Using Small Images w/Kara ft. GARDEN BUDDIES

Hello again. It's Kara. With Spring fast approaching, I decided to bring out another great set centered on gardening called Garden Buddies.

This is such a cute set. For me, the best feature of this set are all of the small details. The watering can, spade, bird... All these tiny images are so adorable and versatile.

I used them here to create an all-over background design as well as part of the focal point. For the background I added all of the stamps to an acrylic block and stamped them all at once. Then I just kept turning the stamp until that background was full. It looks random, but took no time at all to stamp.

I love this little girl with her arms outstretched. She appears to be juggling all of those little images. I colored them with Copic markers. The circle was cut with the large circle from Love Mom Layers and colored with a little yellow Distress Ink.

Super simple to create, but an adorable way to send some sunshine to a friend or loved one!

Love You w/Kara

Hey guys! Valentine's Day is just around the corner and I needed a card for my husband, Ryan. This card mixes a ton of amazing stamp sets!

I started by stamping the large 'love you' sentiment from Biggest Fan in the center of a white card panel. I positioned it slightly closer to the top because I knew I wanted to accent the bottom with a banner and other details. This way the entire design is centered.

I used the banner from Autumn Blessings. It has a cool tattoo like vibe that I think works really well with the 'love you' font. On it I stamped the 'there's no one else like you' sentiment from No One Else. Again, I think this font really works well with the design.

Using my Copic markers I colored flowers from Hello & Thanks to place behind the banner. On top of the banner I placed a butterfly from Butterfly Mandala. Since the butterfly was placed on the right I accented the left of the design with a few hearts from Biggest Fan to balance it all out.

I just love how these classic images, when used together with a few more modern styles, take on a much more updated look.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Deck The Halls With Kara

Hi Guys! I'm continuing to build up my holiday card stash. I saw a friend on Instagram has already finished all of hers. I've got a little bit of work ahead of me. Lucky for me, it's my favorite kind of work!

For this card I decided to give an older set a fresh new look by pairing it with the Clear Cut Stackers Hexagons. These hexagons add a modern twist to any set! I decided to use Festive Greetings because this string of lights is so fun and easy to color. When creating many cards for a holiday I want each one to be special, but not too time consuming to create. This is just that!

I started with a white panel and die cut three hexagons in a staggered pattern. That left a large white space at the bottom right, perfect for my sentiment. On another white panel I stamped the string of lights three times. I was careful while stamping to make sure the lights would show through the hexagon windows.

I colored the lights with Copic markers and clear Wink of Stella. Before I popped the die cut panel up on dimensional adhesive over the holiday lights I added a few hanging down from the windows. I felt it needed just a bit more so I used the die cut hexagons that were left over and stamped some lights on them. I popped them up as well and had three layers of dimension and shimmering lights!

This is another card design that is very easy to recreate and mass produce. Thanks so much for stopping by!

Simply Colored Snowflake w/Kara ft. MERRIEST SNOWFLAKE

Hey Guys! I'm back with another holiday card using non-traditional colors. Just as with the pink on my last card, I feel like these colors add to the cool, icy feeling of the season.

This time I used the new Merriest Snowflake for my design. I stamped the large image several times to create an all-over background design. I then colored the snowflake with blues and a bit of yellow. I outlined the images with a light grey marker to create a subtle shadow and make the design pop against the white cardstock.

I added a die cut sentiment from the new Sending Cheer Die. I coated the die cut as well as the yellow areas with shimmer from a Wink Of Stella pen.

So beautiful, so simple and so easy to mail! I'll be making a few more of these to send to friends and family.

Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving filled with family and lots of love!

Pattern Stamping w/Kara ft. AUTUMN BLESSINGS

Hello! Kara here and I am fully embracing fall now. The weather is getting cooler and these sunflowers are just perfect for the season.

I stamped this single sunflower cluster stamp in a diagonal pattern on a piece of white cardstock. I used a Copic friendly ink so that I could do some coloring. I colored the flowers in shades of red, orange and yellow.

I die cut two hexagons, from Clear Cut Stackers: Hexagons, out of black cardstock for my sentiment. Using Versamark Ink and white embossing powder I added the 'Hello' sentiment from Butterfly Mandala. I stacked the two hexagons and separated them with some dimensional adhesive for a touch of added interest.

I hope you enjoyed today's project and a little break from the Christmas inspiration. Thanks for stopping by!
