Just Because...

Today's post I am sharing a card I made using...
Dreamin' Big Cardmaking Thin Cuts Bundle

Close to my Heart is having a 25% off all Thin Cuts for the month of March

See the badge on my right side bar, with the link  to Cut it Out! for details

Make sure to Join my March Orders Event
You can place an order and have it shipped directly to your home

This card is made using our Juniper cardstock cut 11" x 41/4", folded along the 51/2" inch mark.  I then layered with a piece of White Daisy cardstock, cut at 4" x 5.25"

I love white space on cards, so this is a card that you can make really quick, using those thin strips of paper scraps we all have in our stash.

I trimmed the Dreamin' Big papers into 5" x 1/2" strips.  Next, tear the edges to look like Washi tape, making sure each one is slightly shorter than the last strip. Attach the strips with adhesive.

Using your favorite Die Cutting machine, select your image from the Dreamin' Big stamp set, which has several bugs with wings...Dragonfly, 2 Butterflies and a Ladybug. I chose the Dragonfly for this card, stamping the image on White Daisy cardstock using Poppy ink,  position the coordinating die over the stamped image.  I usually anchor the die down with a small piece of Washi tape to hold it in place. Run through your die cutting machine for a perfect cut, ready to embellish your card.

The stamp also has several sentiments to use on your cards.  I inked the Just Because sentiment in Slate ink, then finished the card with Poppy twine and a Gold Glitter Gem attached to the Dragonfly.

Thanks for coming by today - Karen

Challenge Me Monday

This week at Fantabulous Cricut the Design Team members on Team A
are sharing their inspiration for Challenge #121 - Wedding Bliss.

Make a project for a special couple, (Wedding or Anniversary).
Use at least one (1) Cricut cut on your project.
And remember to list on your blog the cartridge(s) used.

I have to admit, I do not have many cartridges with Wedding images.
I did find an image in the Wild Card Cartridge.

I was able to create a simple, but elegant card with this image.
I love Red, Black and White together.

I also used George & Basic Shapes cartridge, page 108 circle.
White circle cut at 4"  and the Black with white polka dots cut at 1-1/2"
Sentiment is from Close to my Heart.
All other supplies were from my stash.

I hope you will be able to play along with us this week at FCCB
Challenge begins on Monday, July 23 and runs through Midnight (Mountain Time), July 29
Have a great week.

Love is like a Butterfly...

Front view
Today is my first post as a Design Team member for The Cutting Cafe and I am so excited to share my creation with you.  I used the Butterfly Shaped Card cutting file and a sentiment from the Social Butterfly printable stamp set.

My color palette is pink, white and black, which I just love together.

I started with a 5-1/2" x 5-1/2" pink cardstock base.  I cut the butterfly out three times:  white cardstock, pink pattern paper and vellum.  I sponged baby pink around the edges of the white butterfly and added black ink doodle lines around all 3 butterflies.  I layered these three butterflies together, white, pink pattern paper and vellum on top.  I cut a black cardstock body, wrapped black/white bakers twine around the body and added stamens for the antenna.  Adhere the body to the center of the butterfly.

Side view to show butterfly wing layers
I cut two scallop borders from black cardstock using my Cricut "Just Because" cartridge, page 46 <Apple-s> cut at 5-1/2", adhered to a piece of 2" x 5-1/2" pink pattern paper.

For the sentiment - I trimmed it and made one banner edge with a square punch.  Layer all paper pieces as shown in the photo, working back to front.

My finishing touches include black rhinestones, and baker twine ribbon/bow.

That's it for today, so thank you so much for stopping by my blog and letting me share my card with you.  Enjoy your day.

The Craft's Meow April Sketch Challenge

My share today is a card I made for The Crafts Meow April Sketch challenge posted below.  I just recently purchased some stamps from them, but haven't had a chance to use them yet.  I choose their "Just for You" set to work with for this challenge.

The base is a 3-1/2" x 8" teal colored card from my stash of Close to My Heart papers.  I layered two coordinating pattern paper from my stack Recollections - Bold Basic, cut at 3" x 7-1/2" for the bottom layer and 2-1/2" x 7" for the top layer.  I stamped my image 3 times and sentiment with Close to My Heart, Gypsy ink on to cream cardstock.  Punch the images out with a 1-1/2" circle punch and punch 3 teal circles with a 1-3/4" circle punch.

I also cut a 1-1/2" x 3-1/2" pattern paper and a 4" scallop border in cream cardstock cut from the Elegant Edges cartridge, page 48, <sclops-s> using the oblong feature, trimmed to 3-1/2".  Cut a 1/2" x  3-1/2" cream cardstock for the sentiment banner, punch the ends with a square punch to create the banner.  Layer all paper pieces as shown in the photo.  My finishing touches are tiny adhesive pearls to the scallop border, the banner and medium size to the centers of the images.  And last of all, a organza lavender ribbon bow at the top.

Thank you for stopping by today, enjoy my card, stop by The Crafts Meow to check out the sketch and play along.  Hope your day is filled with joy.

I'm sew happy!

The tag I am sharing tonight is one I made for Colorful Creations monthly challenge.  As I am on the Design Team at Colorful Creations, I like to participate in my follow DT members monthly challenges.  Andrew hosts a Tag of the Month challenge, and this months theme was vintage.

I started with a 3-1/8" x 6-1/2"  piece of corrugated cardboard and layered that with Jolees Boutique paper pad - French General, rounded the corners on the tag.  I layered lace and red striped paper, also from Jolees Boutique. Next I colored, distressed and cut out my dress form, which is a digi image.  I used Tim Holtz Distress Ink - Tea dye on the dress form, as well as sponging the larger flower on the paper.  I used Memento Tuxedo Black to stamp the stitched zigzag image and the sentiment, both from Close to My Heart #C1234 Simple Stitches.  I found the snaps, navy thread and navy seam binding at a local thrift store, which had many fun things inside the bag. The flower was made by cutting 6 circles from old pattern tissue.  All other elements were found in my stash.

Thank you for stopping by.  I hope you enjoyed my tag and I hope you will have a chance to check out Colorful Creations and all that it has to offer.

Happy March

I'm playing along with My Craft Spot challenge #47 - For the Birds.  My card has an awesome color combination of Lagoon and Sorbet and lots of layers.  So Happy March!

I started with Sorbet A2 card.  I added a pattern paper I found in a stack of DCWV with the same Lagoon and Sorbet colors.  I used  the following cartridges for my card:  Elegant Edges pg. 65 <Flower3> cut at 4" for the center piece.  My bird is found in Live Simply <Bird1-s> cut at 3", I also used the layers for the wing and leaves.  The flower is from George & Basic shapes cartridge, pg. 120.  I cut 3 each in the following sizes, 2", 1-1/2" and 1" on dotted Sorbet paper from My Minds Eye.  I also cut the white circle found on pg. 108 at 3".  All other paper from Close to My Heart and cut 1/4" smaller than the piece below it.

To finish this card I sponged all bird and leaf pieces with Lagoon ink, all flower pieces with Sorbet ink, ink from Close to My Heart.  After sponging I added black line details around the edges of these pieces.  Stamped my sentiment, two stamps from Close to My Heart in Sorbet and Black.  Added lighter lagoon brads From American Craft to center of flowers and 3 at the lower right corner.  Small adhesive pearls around the center cut out and a ribbon finish off my card.
