The Copy Machine Nazi
So after reading my friend Katie's blog I couldn't help but post my own horror story about a trip to the copy machine. For those of you who don't know, BYU campus (just like every other campus I'm sure) has several self-serve copy machines and printers around campus. There is no restriction on the amount you can print from these as long as you have the 'big bucks' to feed the machines.
For those of you who still hold me in high regard (if there are any of you left!) I encourage you to stop reading the post at this point.
Here's what happened...
So, as was previously stated in an earlier post, finals week (which is always a stressful time) was particularly stressful last semester because I was caught doing one of my group members work in order to get that sought after 'A'. This group member was so incredibly lazy and didn't send me any of the work he was responsible for so I had spent 5 1/2 hours the day that it was due doing his part. (Can you tell I'm still a little bitter?) Anyway, back to the story. Well, I was in the process of tallying up some of the information on these psychological tests we had administered to a family. In order to make it a little easier I decided to make 6 (that's right, 6) photocopies so I could write on each of them rather than condensing it into one confusing sheet. So I go walking up to this copy machine, wait for the guy in front of me to finish, and barely swipe my card when this girl comes up huffing and puffing behind me. She was obviously irritated and understanding that I myself was a little on edge I tried to let her annoying huffing just slide by. Well, after about copy #3, the girls turns to me and says, "You know, some of us have to use it too." At that point I completely lost it. I turned around and said, "Well you are in luck because there are 15 other copy machines on campus! Why don't you go find one if you can't be patient enough for 6 copies!" Her response, "It is finals week and I am already late for a final!" Counter response, "You probably should have planned your time a little bit better then."
Okay, so maybe that was a little too harsh but I have yet to understand how someone can be so inconsiderate and incompetent! Does the copy machine Nazi really not understand that it is finals week for 30,000 BYU students? Does she really have a right to tell others how many copies they need to make or when they can make them?
For the sake of this post, I'll give her the benefit of the doubt and pretend that she had a particularly stressful finals week. For example, if she had lost her job, her car broke down, her dog died, and he boyfriend broke up with her (undoubtedly for very good reason) all in the same week. If in fact this is the case...I'll accept your apology the next time I'm making 6 copies!

I love to see the temple...
A couple of weeks ago my mom invited Scott and I to go on a private tour of the new Draper, UT temple. Because it was on a Monday morning, we didn't know if Scott would be able to skip out of work to go but after a last minute call to his boss, everything worked out great!
The temple was so beautiful on the inside and out. I could not believe how much work goes into the design of the temples. Everything from the tiles and carpet to the artwork and chandeliers was absolutely beautiful. Something that never ceases to amaze me is how pristine the temples look and yet they have such great beauty.
After the walk-through we had the chance to go to a luncheon over in the stake center located in the same lot as the temple. Scott wasn't able to attend because he had to get back to work. Everything was so well put together and the food was great. (Particularly the chocolate/peanut butter brownies if I do say so myself!)
If any of you get the chance to take a walk through it is definitely worth your time!

Scott missed out on picture time...darn.

i am...a student
i think...loving is living
i know...i can be better
i want...to be more patient
i have...an amazing husband
i dislike...snobby people
i miss...swimming on a summer day
i fear...snakes, spiders and sharks
i feel...sick at the moment
i hear...the clicking of a keyboard
i smell...books
i crave...cheesecake
i cry...all the time
i usually...sing in the shower
i enjoy...snuggling up at night
i search...for ways to organize myself
i wonder...what the future holds
i regret...past mistakes
i love...scott
i worry...about grades
i am not...perfect
i remember...the important things
i believe...Jesus Christ is my Savior
i dance...to the beat of my own drum
i don't...get everything done
i write...because it makes me feel good
i win...in wii bowling
i lose...my mind occasionally
i am trying...to be more productive
i never...want a fancy car
i wish...i could change the world
i listen...to my mom
i don't understand...economics
i can usually be found...at school
i am scared...of losing
i need to lose...my obsession with facebook
i forget...a lot of little things
i am happy...in a warm bath

The Many Faces of ASPEN
ASPEN
Just thought I'd post a few pictures of our dog, Aspen. She is so hilarious and never ceases to make us laugh hysterically at whatever she is doing.
Just a few things that Aspen regularly does:
1) Uses her paws as hands. This includes laying on her side while on her dog bed and pushing her toy back and forth between paws. Also included in this one is flipping her ear back the right way when it is flipped over and using her paws to scratch under her chin. She gets sad when we are on the couch and we make her sit alone.
2) Freaks out when the vacuum comes on! The other day Scott was getting the vacuum out and I said, "Has Aspen ever been right here when you are vacuuming?" Well, lets just say we got quite the show. As soon as we turned it on she took off running back and forth up and down the stairs the way she does when she gets excited.
3) Sits like a human. Tail tucked under and all four paws facing forward.
Not a very good picture...this is her transitioning from her "human sit" to her "normal dog" position. :)
4) Puts her head on your shoulder while driving. Scott will occasionally let Aspen out in the back of his car when the seats are down. She will often come and set her head on his shoulder just to "feel like she is in the driver's seat" as Scott put it.
5) Acts as a foot warmer. Whenever I'm cooking dinner or washing dishes Aspen loves to come and lay on my feet. Who needs socks when you have a 65 lb. chocolate lab?
We love when she tilts her head like this. In order to get her to do it for pictures we often have to make sounds of other dogs. She gets really confused and suddenly it tilts! :)
6) Retrieves like a pro! Scott has been working really hard with Aspen in training her to become a hunting dog. She does AWESOME and despite her stubborn nature sometimes, she listens pretty well and has a lot of fun.

It is a DINOSAUR world....
MONTHS ago Scott's parents invited us to this BBC's "Walking with Dinosaurs" exhibit they were going to have down at the Energy Solutions Arena. I didn't know what to expect but we had heard that it was going to be really cool.
Since Scott's mom was down in Houston for Ashley's baby shower, his dad was flying solo and was nice enough to pick us up. We met the other Davis families downtown for a bite to eat and then all headed over to the ESA for the show.
The show turned out to be pretty incredible. I'm not sure exactly how they did it but they had 15 life size dinosaurs that moved. I started reading more about it on their website. Anyway, if you get the chance you should definitely take the time to go and see it. I've never really been a fan of the whole dinosaur thing but it actually turned out to not only be interesting, but entertaining!
Oh, and did I mention that they also have a Dippin' Dots stand there? Yeah, definitely heaven. :)
