Colour Throwdown #421

First of all, I want to thank the Colour Throwdown team for having me as their guest designer this month!  This is a wonderfully talented team of ladies, and I am honored to have been able to join them for the month.

This week's challenge brings a fun mix of bright colours.  A wonderfully fun way to branch out of traditional Christmas colours and mix things up a bit!

CTD 421 photo CTD422.jpg

I had a very busy weekend so kept things rather simple this time round.  Pulled out this old Stampin' Up set (Blooming with Happiness) and coloured the cake flowers to match.  Kept with black and white so these wonderful colours would pop.  Added a few black half pearls to the centers of the purple flowers for a bit of dimension and lightened things up with some green twine.

Now for the CTD rules:  Once you've finished your card or other paper crafted project, add a direct link to your creation using the Inlinkz tool at the bottom of the Colour Throwdown post.  And, don't forget to use the keyword CTD421 if you upload your project to an online gallery, or hashtag on social media with #ctd421 and/or #colourthrowdown.  Challenge guidelines are in the right sidebar on the Colour Throwdown Challenge Blog in case you have any questions.

Colour Throwdown #419

This wonderful colour combination turned my mind to Spring for some reason so I went with flowers.  I think subconsciously I am not looking forward to a bleak winter with no colour in my front and back yard for the next five months or so and this is my way of dealing with LOL!

 photo CTD419pic.jpg

I pulled out some Reverse Confetti's Petals and Posies and went to work.  Matted it in kraft as there seemed to be brown sugar around the rims of the glasses so I took it as artistic license to add that colour to the mix {grin}.   The champagne flutes made me think celebration so I went with the birthday sentiment.

Colour Throwdown #418

This week's Colour Throwdown has some gorgeous colours to work with!  I just love fall colours and when my eye caught the maple leaf in the picture I was giddy because I love using them on cards - and it is a very Canadian thing as well {grin}.

CTD 418 photo CTD418pic.jpg

I used an MFT sketch and used some negative space for the oval, added some leaves using my beloved  PTI leaf dies as per the colours in the photo and then I added "blessed" in copper shimmer paper as per the pumpkins.  Added a bit if texture in the oval space and a bit of twine to ground things.

Now for the CTD rules:  Once you've finished your card or other paper crafted project, add a direct link to your creation using the Inlinkz tool at the bottom of the Colour Throwdown post.  And, don't forget to use the keyword CTD418 if you upload your project to an online gallery, or hashtag on social media with #ctd418 and/or #colourthrowdown.  Challenge guidelines are in the right sidebar on the Colour Throwdown Challenge Blog in case you have any questions.

Guesting for the Colour Throwdown

I am excited to share that I have the honour of being the Guest Designer for the Colour Throwdown the month of November!  Not only that, but I have the added bonus being a fellow DT members and cyber friends with several of the ladies on this team.  Card making cyber friends rock :)

CTD 417 photo CTD417pic.jpg

I loved this weeks' colour combination, and when I saw the pumpkins in the back of the truck, I immediately went to the newly released pumpkin set and dies by Verve Stamps.  Love these happy pumpkin images!  Combined them with some Reverse Confetti and PTI dies to create my card.

Mojo Monday #334

Mojo 334 photo Mojo334picA.jpg

It's the fourth Monday of the month which means it is time for a Tall and Skinny sketch over on the Mojo Monday blog!

Oh how I am enjoying this card concept and size!  You can keep things contained to the card size or have things hang over the edge to get to the 4 1/4" width and still fit the standard A2 envelope.  Or, you can go long with a 6" x 3 1/2" size for added length.  Lots of flexibility and room for options :)

I haven't played along with the Colour Throwdown forever, and with this week's fabulous colour combination, I just couldn't resits.  The colours tend to lend themselves toward a masculine card, but I decided to go girly.

I gleefully pulled out my flowers and butterflies in giddy anticipation of spring and this was my result.  Just adore font in this birthday sentiment from Poppy Birthday, and used the Loopy Blooms die set (which just happens to be on sale right now over at the Verve Store) for my flower.

All the challenge details are over on the Mojo Monday blog and you can also view all the wonderful Mojo Makers samples.  Should you wish more details on the Mojo Maker's cards, you can also visit their individual blogs noted below.

A busy weekend helping friends move and shuttling kids to and from activities.  I'm already looking forward to Spring Break when my son's soccer is over, other activities shut down for a few weeks and we get to enjoy a more relaxed schedule.

Thanks for popping by and hope you can play along with our Tall and Skinny sketch.

Echos of Kindness

Loved this Colour Throwdown combo when I saw it and knew I wanted to use it.  I don't own any Razzleberry yet, so I substituted Rose Red.  Even more fun was getting totally giddy about being able to play with my new Verve flowers while making this card!!  I just love this gorgeous flower!

This Inkspirations sketch was a perfect fit!  I cut and layered the flower, but it seemed a bit dull so I added glitter to all the layers, and to myself LOL!  This got me laughing out loud because a few days ago Andrea Ewen was commenting about being covered in red sparkles after putting them on a Verve flower :)  We'd be a great, sparkly pair at a Christmas Party LOL!  In addition, it brought to mind a line from a great Veggie Tale.  It's the one about the story of Shadrack, Mishack and Abednego and the fiery furnace.  The line I am relating to right about now is when they have been tossed into the fiery furnace and Mr. Lundt says "Hey boss, there are four of them in there and one is reeeeeeeal shiny".

Julee has done an amazing job combining fonts on this fabulous Mother Teresa quote!!  I think we have all benefited from the kind words of others and it is a good reminder to be the one who shares kind words (not just thinks them) and touches the lives of others in ways we may never know.

My son's soccer team gets a bye this weekend and we don't have much planned - a lull before future weekend storms LOL!!  Weather permitting, I hope to clean out my summer planters and replace them with winter pansies.  In addition, I need to clean up my stamp!  Let's just say I've been having a bit too much fun with my new found "mommy time" and neglected the tidy up side of stamping.

Have a fabulous weekend everyone :)

Colour Throwdown 100

Boy, two posts in one day!  Never thought it could be accomplished over the summer, that's for sure!  However, I could not pass up Colour Throwdown's 100th colour challenge celebration!  They have some wonderful prizes available to those who participate in this week's challenge!!  Worth staying up a bit late to get it done LOL!

Since I was playing with this cute Sweet 'n Sassy Snow Friends snow couple stamp earlier this week, I wanted to use them again.  I  coloured the scarf and hat with the Twinkling H2Os colours I could find that were the closest match to Baja Breeze and Regal Rose.  Then, I stamped the snowflake image from Stampin' Up's Festive Favorites in the background to fill in the focal image.  Though it is hard to see in the picture, I made sparkly snow and also sparkled the brim of his hat and her ear muff.   I wanted the heart they were holding to stick out a bit more so I covered it with Stickles.  The snowflakes are Regal Rose with a half pearl in them and the ribbon tied in the hat and scarf wonderfully.   Now I just have to keep my fingers crossed :)

Have a great day and thanks for joining me for part of yours :)
