PTI Blog Hop ~ July 2013

PTI Blog Hop photo PTIJulyHopPica.jpg

This month's PTI BLog Hop had some great colour combos to chose from and I immediately gravitated towards this fabulous citrus combination because these colour just make me happy :)

I paired it with last week's Pal Paper Arts sketch (after rotating it to a horizontal orientation) and pulled out various papers that matched the required colours.

Dawn's Fabulous Signature Greetings, a leaf image from Turning a New Leaf, and my all time favorite Beautiful Blooms II flower die pulled together the sentiment panel.  One more pop of colour with this fabulous orange grosgrain ribbon and I called it a card.

Thanks for popping in today and I look forward to seeing everyone else's choice of colour combination to work with.

PTI October Blog Hop

This month's PTI 's Blog Hop theme is non-traditional holiday colour schemes which we could chose from and make a card or tag with.  Since I love making tags, it was a great opportunity to get a few done for the holiday season.  I managed to use three of the colour combinations and had great fun doing so :)

Loved this colour combination.  Most likely because it is more towards the traditional side and I just love red and green together, no matter the hues.  It provided the perfect combination to create a folded Christmas tree.  I have seen these around blog land but never made one so jumped at the chance to do so.  As luck would have it, I have absolutely no patterned paper with this colour combo on it so I had to go with straight card stock, but I like it :)    Here is an instruction link if you want it.  In case you are wondering, I used half of a 3 inch circle for my trees.

This next colour combination was more on the cool side and made me think of snow right away - thus the snowflake theme.  Love how the turquoise pops against the grey :)  Hard to see, but I used the musical background stamp on the grey and this little "joy" stamp from Dawn's Signature Christmas set is just the right size for small tags :)  There is always great joy in my kids (and this overgrown kid too LOL) when we get snow here as it isn't a regular occurrence, and usually only lasts a day or two so we take full advantage of making snowmen and sledding down the local hill when we get some.

The rich tones in this colour combination were a delight to work with - though the pink did cause me a few issues lol :)   I love snowflakes and thus my snowflake and "joy" theme carried over from my previous tag.  Joy is such an integral part of Christmas that I love using the word on cards and tags.  Added a few polka dots in the background and a big old snowflake up front to steal the show.

Ran out of time or I would have used a few more of the combinations to create a few more tags.  Have them stored away so may have to used them when time permits.  I truly do enjoy working on a smaller canvas (though sometimes it can be very frustrating too!) and tags are one of my favorite things to create.  The fun part is you can use them as tags or add them to a card.  Will have to wait and see where these end up!

Wishing you a wonderful day and thanks for dropping by!

PTI June Blog Hop

Welcome to June's PTI blog hop.  The inspiration picture this month brought green, yellow and grey as well as flowers, pleats and ruffles.

I stuck to the colour combo and used more of my Recollections DP pack from Michael's for the papers.  Some crimping of the flower die (my favorite PTI flower die to date) and ruffling of the ribbon brought in the texture of the inspiration picture.  If I had a sewing machine I would have pleated the ribbon, but since it is still on my wish list I opted for ruffling my ribbon instead.

I used this week's Verve sketch, which I tweaked just a bit so I could get the flower in.  The small thank you sentiment from A Year of Flowers: Lily of the Valley was the perfect size and font to squeeze in.  Will use this as another of my teacher thank you cards this coming week.

Thanks for stopping by and wishing you a great day :)

Papertrey October Blog Hop Challenge

I just loved this inspiration piece :)  Those pumpkins are the cutest and the mix of colours is right up my alley too.

I created my Sahara Sand background using Polka Dot Basics II and then some Lime Twist paper for the bottom.  All those polka dots are making me happy...sigh... :)

Couldn't resist making a pumpkin so out came my large oval punch and some fun patterned paper.  I had to go with a tall skinny pumpkin otherwise I wouldn't have any room for my sentiment on the panel.  Funny thing is I tend to always pick a tall thin pumpkin when the kids and I go to the pumpkin patch so I guess it was meant to be.  I added a stem, leaf and a curly cue to the pumpkin and was good to go.

I'll be sorry when fall is over as I just love creating fall cards with my PTI Leaf dies. Tried to work them in here but the pumpkin urge was just too strong LOL!

Thanks for stopping by today!

June Papertrey Blog Hop Challenge

Welcome to PTI's July Blog Hop.  This month's hop challenge was to use this inspiration picture.  I loved the ribbons of colour and the baby theme so that is what I went with.

I used a Clean and Simple layout as it had three horizontal bands of colour in the sketch.  This fun polka dotted Echo Park paper was a perfect match as I was able to pull in the colours of the dresses on the hooks and the green giraffe from the colour at the top of the wall.  Needless to say, there are a lot of dots on this card!

The giraffe needed a little something so I added a twine bow to his neck and finished things off by using Dawn's wonderful Signature Greetings baby sentiment.

Thanks for stopping by today.

May Papertrey Blog Hop Challenge

This is my first ever Papertrey blog hop!  Since I just got some new PTI goodies including some flower dies, and since flowers were this month's theme, I decided to jump in and participate.

I combined this week's Monday Lunchtime sketch and Color Q challenges because last week I made card for the Color Q and for some dumb reason, forgot to add it to Mr. Linky!  Still kicking myself for that one as I loved my card.  Oh well, lesson learned!!

As you can tell from some of my recent posts, the Polka Dot Basics II set is quickly becoming a favorite of mine!  I used it along with Dawn's wonderful Signature Greetings and PTI flower die.  I added some white leaves with a bit of script on them to help balance things off.  My Daffodil Delight is very minimal, but it's in there with the twine LOL!

Thanks for joining me on my first ever PTI Blog Hop :)   As the card says, hope your day is fabulous!
