Vintage Chic Spring

Looking for a challenge today?  Why not head on over to Pinterest to get those creative wheels movin'.  Time for a little vintage chic to welcome the coming of spring.  Headed over there a couple of days ago and found this adorable photo just waiting to inspire me.

(photo)
Picked up some yarn and went to work on my little chick.  Created by forming and trimming two pom-poms tied together.  Added little felt feet, felt beak and glass beads for eyes.

In need of a comfy home, embellished a wooden basket and added folded strips of Bello Pastello paper to fill the inside.

Completed the basket with a satin, fabric, felt and lace flower and a stamped paper flag.  Once she was all tucked away in her little basket, created a card to match.

Added the fabric trim by tearing strips of fabric and braiding them, stitching the ends to ensure they would not come apart.

And that is how I was inspired to create a little vintage chic spring.  What inspires you today?

A Sweet Surprise

February is quickly approaching and you know what that means, Valentine's Day gifts maybe?  Sharing a gift wrap project using Bello Pastello and Happy Party papers that is full of color, texture and loveliness.

Begin with a box template/die cut (this one using the Cricut Expression) and your favorite Riddersholm papers.  Die cut a variety of labels, tags and frames to create your 3d box front.  Added a little handmade crepe paper trim, tinsel, hand stitched felt hearts and vintage style images from my crafty supplies.  Each one wrapped in colorful ribbon.

How will you be packaging your Valentine's this year?  So many lovely pastels to choose from here.

Vintage Girl

It is the start of a new year.  Time to get back to creating a little more after a busy end of the year.  With thoughts of Valentine's Day floating through my mind and craft room, I thought it was a perfect time to begin creating some decorative packaging.
I began by cutting a piece of cardstock and covering it with some of my favorite Riddersholm paper from the Bello Pastello collections.  I then added a vintage lace doily, die cut labels and a few stamped images.   The felt flowers and pink tinsel completed the look.
Have a creative and fun day!

Counting Down

Every year the kids and I make a plan to create our very own advent calendar to countdown the days until Christmas.  This year, we did it and used all of those amazing papers and tags from Riddersholm.  Using a 7 Gypsies divided frame (twelve sections) this is now our 12 Days of Christmas advent calendar we can bring out year after year.

Each section  is layered with Christmas Story/I Believe papers and tags.  I have also included other vintage finds, stamped images and mini tins to hold a little treasure inside for each day.

What will you be creating this year to decorate your home? Maybe this project will inspire you to create your very own calendar this year.  Enjoy!

holiday greetings...

The holidays are almost here and the list of to-do's is beginning to grow.  So why not start with the crafty, fun items first.  Do you create your own holiday cards?  Why not make The Christmas Story collection apart of your projects this year.  With the beautiful papers and gorgeous vintage tags, oh I am in love!
Created this card using only the papers in this collection.  A little tinsel string to top off the tag.  Deep red ribbon from the shop to add an additional layer of color.  Also created a flower stick pin using Ink-It flowers.
Simply remove the center of the flowers by pulling them from the bottom.  Rub them gently between your hands to soften them a bit.  Add them to a stick pin and then to your project!

The Wish

Hello Riddersholm fans!  Today I am sharing something with a little sparkle and shabby chicness to the blog with a birthday gift set.  I recently found a wood star in my local craft store...when the sales begin on items like these I stock my craft room for a project just like this one.  The project began with this as the inspiration.
Each section of the star is covered with beautiful pastel Riddersholm paper from Fleamarket (FM0120, FM0118, FM0114) and Bello Pastello (0067,0076, 0074).  Covered the star in glitter, fabric, thread, vintage button and twine (from the Riddersholm shop).  Also created a card to match.

Enjoy your day and happy crafting!

Hang It Up

Most often I find myself creating something that can hang in my craft room for inspiration, pops of color and gives me a little pick-me-up on those down days.
This set today does it all.  Featuring beautiful Riddersholm ribbon, papers, tags and the amazing new mulberry flowers.  Layers of leaves, which I adhered to a die cut circle wreath, sprinkled with adhesive pearls and topped with one layered flower.  Here is how you create this flower.
Begin by using one of these flowers.  Remove the green leaf portion of the flower, unless you like the green color on the flower petals.  Soak in a shallow bowl of water until the flower is wet.  Set on a towel or napkin.  Carefully begin spreading the petals out from the center.  The bottom two layers will remove themselves.  Allow to dry.  For the second flower follow my post HERE.  Once both flowers are dry, adhere together.
And, this set is not complete without a card. Have a wonderful Friday!

with heart...

Give your project a little heart through the layers of beautiful Riddersholm paper and the perfect quote.  This card set that I am sharing today shows how easy it is to combine layers of die cut shapes.
Following the cutting cardstock, for the card base, I layered strips of paper and stitched them together using some of my favorite Riddersholm paper.  Next I printed out a few quotes on cardstock and added them to my cards.
Then it was on to the die cut layers.  By just pulling together different shapes and contrasting colors, the look is achieved.
The heart was then added to each card.  Although there are several layers to each, it is simple to recreate and personalize.
