One Little Word: January 2012

Last month's assignment included completing a few written prompts. Reflecting on our word and why we chose it, what we hope to gain through it...

My word for the year is health.
I am using a circle motif and shades of red and gray to carry me through the year and add cohesion to my album.

Fall Scrapbook Pages

I LOVE fall! I love taking photos and scrapbooking fall events. Here are a couple of recent pages that I completed at a scrapbook retreat last month.

Using a "reverse matting" technique as taught by Becky Teichmiller of Scrap-Tastic. Products: Scrap-Tastic kit, Glimmer Mist, CM circle punch, Prima butterflies.

Also using a Scrap-Tastic kit. I won the orange bling during one of Becky's weekly classes. Love those Prima flowers with the feathers. Other products include stamps by Unity, Martha Stewart border punch, Chocolate Chip ink from SU, Glimmer Mist and Glimmer Chips.

Thanks for stopping by today and seeing some of the fun I've had this fall!

These girls have seen me through it all- bad boyfriends, too much wine, marriage, babies, illness, you name it.

Re-posting this layout that I love during my blogging hiatus. Stay tuned for my blog re-launch on Monday, August 9th! Man, my photo editing skills are much improved since this post's debut in June 2009!

Time for another Hip Hop Hangover! If you haven't checked it out yet, Unity has a super fab new Christmas set release! This layout just shows off some cute pics of Justin and the girls. Glow!

Another layout for the "Beauty Pageant" at Scraptastic.  This was a great challenge for me, as I had never scrapped a 8x10 photo before.

Almost all of the products came from the July Scraptastic kit. I added Unity stamps, Glimmer mist, and Making Memories alphas.
This photo was taken a couple of weeks ago at the Hot Air BalloonChallenge here in town.

Please stay tuned to see the new plans I have in store for my blog! Look for a new tagline and organizational structure,  new content themes, and a more consistent posting schedule. My "re-launch" is scheduled for Monday, August 9th. While I take a break until then, I will be re-posting some old favorites, showcasing projects I love, and maybe even have a guest blogger or two. I am very excited and looking forward to your input!!

Word Lust

I am a self- confessed book nerd. I have been since I was a little girl. I can sit down with a book and spend hours without even realzing it. So when our next challenge for the Scrap-Tastic Beauty Pageant was to scrap our passion, I knew exactly what I wanted to do!

Paint and chipboard make a frame for the page.

Felt letters and Unity stamps.

I made the background using chipboard letters as masks, then sprayed with Glimmer Mist.

More Unity stamps and old dictionary pages.

Happy Birthday to my Hubs!

Yep, today is Justin's birthday. Here is the card I made for him:
I used SC270  from SplitCoastStampers for the layout. I chose a monochromatic scheme from my scraps pile, mainly because I have trouble picking out colors for guy cards! After edging each panel in white I lighly sponged Soft Sky on the image panel. The main image and sentiment, both from Unity, are stamped in Staz On Black. I rounded one corner of the card base and image panel for interest. A little black ribbon to tie it all together, and done! This came together nice and quickly.

Be sure to stop by on Thursday for a new scrapbook page using images from Lindsay's Stamp Stuff!
