Thankful Thursday 11/1/12

Just a hodgepodge of thankful thoughts today...

I am thankful that all we got from Sandy was a little wind and rain. My heart goes out to all those on the east coast.

I am thankful to live in a country where I am allowed to VOTE! My husband and I exercised our right to vote early on Monday.

I am thankful for a little pill called Relpax. It (most of the time) nips my migraines in the bud.

I am thankful my oldest daughter is learning to cook a few simple things. Tonight she is making soup and grilled cheese, and I get a break!

Thankful Thursday 10/25/12

We just got back from "Math Night" at my kids' school. There are lots of math-related activities. Tonight we estimated the weight of a pumpkin, graphed different varieties of candy corn (white chocolate and green apple- who knew?) and launched tennis balls at targets.

I am thankful for my kids everyday...just look at these faces!

Tonight I was reminded how thankful I am for their school and their teachers. These men and women are so creative and patient, and I know they truly care about my children. Tonight my youngest daughter's teacher, Mrs. N, told my husband and I that we need to have two more kids so I can send them to Central. When I asked her why, she said, "Because the two you already have are so awesome!" What a compliment!

I am thankful for the adults in my life who care about my kids, teach them, and keep them safe. They really are partners in raising my daughters.

Project 365: Week 10

Things were really hectic here this past week- my best friend's husband was in a terrible car accident on Monday and has been in ICU ever since. (Talk about deja vu). My birthday was Friday. Everyone in my house got sick this week. I had to work late a few days. Needless to say, our routine was off a little. I only managed to take a pic a few days, so here they are...

Sunday- Dancing with the Wii

Monday- Dance practice- Viv is in the middle with the black leotard

Wednesday- Courtyard at University Hospital, visiting my friend who's husband is in ICU

Friday- One kid sick at home, one at the bus stop

Saturday- My best friend today!

Project 365: Week 3

Here's another peek inside my daily life!

Sunday- My kids and nieces watching a movie after brunch.

Monday- The girls and I were all home for MLK Day. We painted finger and toes!

Tuesday- Back to work. Viv gave me this little guy years ago, and he always guards my phone.

Wednesday- Taking a Wii break after homework. Right now they love Super Mario Brothers.

Thursday- You can't tell from this pic (taken w/ my phone), but the sunrise was just stunning. So much so that my husband called me on the way to work just to make sure I was paying attention to it!

Friday- Scrapbooking night- I was working on Christmas photos.

Saturday- After dinner we all played a game of marbles.

Sunday

My daughter (far right) attended a dance workshop with the Wright State dance team. She loved performing with them at halftime!

 Monday

My favorite new toy- a back scratcher! My coworker got it for me, as one of the more recent and annoying health issues I am having is a terrible rash!

Tuesday

PIzza Hut for dinner after cheer practice. The kids get coupons for free personal pizzas when they read a certain amount each month.

Wednesday

So dark and cold waiting for the bus in the morning!

 Thursday

Viv made a heart in our front yard. She was so excited to see a little snow.

Friday

My niece's soccer game. She's on the left, #13. She scored a goal and her team won!

 Saturday

Here we go with the cheerleading pics again! Remember those from last year? I do love their color combo this season- they are my high school colors!

Project 365: Week 1

I really enjoyed looking over my collection of P365 photos from last year- noticing the changes in my work and neighborhood, what the girls did at school and in their free time, meals I cooked... 2012 will be my third year doing the Project, and I envision doing something with the yearly photos. Sometime.

I personally snap shots of random stuff and daily life, but if themes are your thing, here are some interesting takes on P365.

Sunday- Scalloped ham and potates with lots of leafy greens for dinner

Monday- Starting to learn her dance routine for the spring recital

Tuesday- trip to the library

Wednesday- home for three days with Hand, Foot and Mouth virus

Thursday- lazy moms go to McDonald's for dinner!

Friday- playing with her wizard science kit

Saturday- the sun and warmth were welcome this weekend!

Project 365: Week 30

Most of this past week is just not worth mentioning, much less photographing. It was rough, medically speaking. So let's just stick with Saturday, the only "keeper", and hope for better stuff all the way around this coming week!

How is it possible that we're halfway through the year??

Sunday- Both of my sisters made it to Dad's for Father's Day. We haven't all been together in years!

Monday- Stuck behind this huge thing on my way to a home visit.

Tuesday- Love some sweet tea!

Wednesday- Another backyard friend.

Thursday- Pampering my tootsies!

Friday- Vision check ups for all us girls. Morgan still doesn't need glasses- major disappointment for her!

Saturday- My new Love!

Thankful Thursday 6/16/11

Some much needed perspective....

• I am thankful to be seeing my new rheumatologist today. He really seems to listen. So important.
• I am thankful that Vivian's dance recital is almost here. Just one more practice!
• I am thankful that I have had a little extra cash this week to treat myself to some beauty treatments- hair cut and color, eyebrow wax, and manicure. When you're chronically ill, a little pampering can go a long way!
• I am thankful for having three days off work this week. No explanation needed!
• I am thankful that my kids have been ultra cooperative in the mornings this week. No whining!
• I am thankful to have Facebook friends from all over the country to keep me company in the wee hours of the morning when I can't sleep!
• I am thankful for my new car and its awesome gas mileage!

I will continue to look for silver linings and small moments of gratitude. Will you?

Monday Morning Musings

So I've been awake since 3am. I finally got out of bed at about 3:30. Here's what's rattling around my brain this early Monday morning!

• Why am I up so early? Prednisone. Lots and lots of prednisone. Continuing my love/hate relationship with this stuff. Mood swings. Racing thoughts. Hunger. Hyperactivity. Irritability. I may feel a little sorry for myself, but I really feel worse for the people who are riding this roller coaster with me!
• Some anxiety about my busy week ahead. Three dance rehearsals, three doctor appointments, dance recital, work, reading camp, Father's Day cookout, and a promised trip to the amusement park. WHAT was I thinking??!!
• Thank goodness for Facebook. I have friends in enough different time zones, so there's always someone to talk to, no matter the hour.
• I'm a little afraid of raccoons. We have a family living in our garage, which we don't use much so that part doesn't really bother me. However, running into them in the dark at 4am is a little unsettling. (I was taking out the trash. Really, what does one DO at 4am??)
• Need to get on the ball with making Father's Day cards. I don't really have any "manly" stamps. Ideas??
• I need to color my hair (home job) and get a haircut. Which one goes first for best results?
• Coffee and brownies are awesome at 5am. Just sayin.
• Worried about my oldest daughter. Hubs and I are talking to a psychologist today about her. More on that later. Yep, I'll put it all out there. I only have about two blog readers, anyway!

I think that pretty much sums it up. I think it's a decent hour (now 5:30am) to start getting ready for work. I have so much time that I'm sure to look gorgeous today! Have a great one!
