Read and mark Mosiah 18:9, "Yea, and are willing to mourn with those that mourn; yea, and comfort those that stand in need of comfort, and to stand as witnesses of God at all times and in all things, and in all places that ye may be redeemed of God, and be numbered with those of the first resurrections, that ye may have eternal life."

when pain is beautiful

It is really quite beautiful that a part of our baptismal covenants are to "mourn with those that mourn and comfort those that stand in need of comfort"
Sometimes I feel that this is the real test- sometimes I think enduring to the end can be harder than we think because we are required to stay up late, get up early, waste our 'productive' days, talking and comforting, praying, serving those who need comfort. This is a lot harder than we think- yet the covenant is so beautifully understood- just hard to fulfil at times.
Compassion means "with passion" for others. I feel it is a gift that can be bestowed upon us through prayer. I don't always see people like our Heavenly Father sees people- but every now and then I can see right through people's weirdness and mistakes and just see this beautiful person who is so incredibly loved by Heavenly Father- and suddenly it is so easy to feel compassion for them- and to serve them.
Thanks April for your beautiful words and thoughts.
What really hit me with this one is how important compassion is to our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. They were so compassionate. If we want to become like them, we really have to master this in our lives. Ditto April, I loved your commet...beautifully said.
