New Year's Eve Gaming With the HAWKs

As has become the tradition, Buck Surdu and his wife hosted a gaming New Year's Party for the HAWKs on December 31st.  Things kicked off at 3:00PM, and we played 2 games before the Times Square ball fell at midnight.
A view of the table.
I ran the first game, entitled "A Zombie Christmas Story", using GASLIGHT rules.  This game set the classic Holiday movie "A Christmas Story", against the background of a Zombie Apocalypse (Brought on by Soap Poisoning in the water supply, of course!)
The staff of the Chinese Restaurant face off against a lone Zombie early in the game.
Each play controlled a 4-man group consisting of characters from the movie.  These groups were then divided up into two teams.  The fist team consisted of:    Ralphie and Family, Flick & Schwartz, and the Warren G Harding Elementary School Kids, the Police Department, the Fie Department, and Miss Shields & WGHES Faculty.  The other team was made op of:  the Bumpuses, Black Bart & his Gang, Scut Farkus, Grover Dill & the Bullies, Higbee's Santa & Elves, and the Staff of the Chinese Restaurant.
The Miss Shields and the Teachers scuffle with Scut Farkus' Bullies over ownership of the Pink Bunny Slippers.
The goal for each side was to gather the most "Supply" tokens, which were randomly scattered on the table, and get them back to their headquarters; all the while battling Zombies.  The "Supply" tokens consisted of: The Leg Lamp, The Fra-Gee-Lay Crate, Pink Bunny Slippers, Red Ryder BB Gun, the Old Man's Turkey, and lastly a Can of Simonize with a Blue Bowling Ball.  Each team's Headquarters was located at an opposite end of the table.  For the first team it was the Parker House, and for the second team it was a Garage.
The Bumpuses, trying to flee in their old car, send their Hounds after some approaching Zombies in an attempt to buy some time.
The two teams were allowed to Scuffle with each other, with a failed Save resulting in the figure becoming Stunned and knocked down for a turn, but not killed.  When fighting Zombies, of course, deadly force could be used.
The Fire Department battles the Department Store Elves for ownership of the Fra-Gee-Lay Crate; while in the background Ralphie and his Family battle Zombies for the Pink Bunny Slippers..
The game turned out to be rather bloody, with the Teachers, Bullies, Chinese Restaurant Staff, Fire Department, and School Kids, all being eliminated one by one during the course of the game.  Most of the other teams were reduced to only one figure by the end.   Many multi-sided skirmishes developed over the tokens with Zombies thrown in for good measure.
Ma Bumpus, the lone Bumpus survivor, spent all game trying to get their jalopy started to escape, all the while fighting off Zombies.  She succeeded finally in the last few turns of the game to get the car going; driving off into the sunset with a string of hungry Zeds trailing behind.

In the end, the Bumpus-led team was able to get the Leg Lamp and the Turkey to their headquarters.  The Can of Simonize & Blue Ball were close to the garage, but the person carrying it died before getting in to safety.   One of the Department Store Elves had the Fra-Gee-Lay Crate, but was not  close to the Garage. The Ralphie-led side was unable to recover any of the Supply tokens back to their Headquarters; though at game's end Ralphie's Mom did have possession of the Slippers, and the Police Captain had the BB Gun.
The game was a ton of fun to run, and the players all seemed to enjoy it as well.
A Policeman, a Fireman, and Ralphie's Mom battle Zombies and Elves for possession of the BB Gun. Meanwhile, in the background, Ralphie holds his own against a horde of Zombies, uttering a steady torrent of obscenities and swearing as he goes.
After my game, Buck ran a Pulp Sci-Fi game using his "Combat Parol" rules.  This scenario featured an assortment of Aliens invading a small Midwest town in 1948.  The town is being defended by the US Army, and the Aliens  needed to cross the length of the table in order to secure a special part of a wrecked spaceship at the far end of the table.
Alien forces deploy on the outskirts of Granville, USA
I was part of the Army defenders, and we started  in a more rural area of the town by a Drive-In theatre.  As a team we decided our best move was to deploy as far forward as we could to keep the Aliens as far from their objective as possible.    So we immediately marched further into the town, with my squads being located on our right flank.
GIs move forward into town and attempt to find cover, as the Alien tanks advance.
We didn't get far before we came into range of the Alien tank guns, and had to scramble into the buildings. There we waited for the Alien foot troops to arrive, as our tanks dueled with the enemy's
An overview of the Alien game.  US Tanks are just entering from the bottom of the photo.
Unfortunately, the long range fire of the Aliens tanks proved better than ours.  Combined with some lucky hits, and unlucky misses on our part, we began to lose tanks one by one.
I used one of my squads to drive some of the cars from the Drive-In into a couple of the streets in an attempt to block them.
As the Alien infantry arrived, we quickly realized the orientation of the buildings along the main streets left us with very poor choices for firing position.    This combined with the fact I was facing squads of 8 ft tall super strong Aliens (Over twice the Endurance of us GIs) on my front, meant I was quickly worn down.
My troops (in the grey building on the left) try to hold out against overwhelming odds.
We were able to do better against the weaker worm-like Alien creatures on our left, but the Aliens concentrated their Armor there, and were able to do severe damage.
In the end, the aliens were able to push one of their tanks through our line, and reached the objective, securing it for the victory.    It was a great fight, and we all had fun.
A lone Alien tank makes it to the objective (The glowing reactor in the center foreground), sealing a victory for the Aliens.
The game ended around 11:30, giving us time to get a good start on packing everything up, before toasting the New Year at midnight.   It was certainly a great way for a group of gamers to usher in 2019.
After the game we watched the Times Square ball drop,  and toasted the New Year with champagne

HAWK's Annual New Year's Eve Gaming Party

On New Year's Eve, HAWK's member, Buck Surdu and his wife, Candy, hosted their annual gaming event/New Year's Eve party for the club.     This year we were treated to two really fun games, as well as wonderful food, and great company, to usher in the New Year.
First up was a Star Wars game, using Combat Patrol's excellent Star Wars supplement.  The scenario had Rebels defending an installation, while the forces of the Empire were attacking them from two directions.  Besides, several squads of infantry, the Imperial force also had with them a couple AT-STs and a lone AT-AT.  The Alliance had several turret emplacements, some rocket launchers and other heavy weapons; and, besides regular infantry, a squad of Wookies, and a hidden squad of Sand People, who had volunteered to help the Rebels. Luke, Leia, and Han Solo were also there.
A view of the Star Wars table at the start of the game.
The AT-AT was run by the gamemaster on a pre-plotted path that only he knew.  It was ordered to move directly to the walled village about midway down the table, where it would land a squad of commando type troops, and then it would fire on a large pallet of equipment in the center of the village in an attempt to destroy it.   The Empire got points for destroying the turrets, moisture vaporators, and other structures on the table. The catch was, that the Imperial troops only got points if they destroyed these by hand, using thermal detonators; they couldn't just stand along the edge of the table and shoot them from a distance.   The Rebels got points for protecting these.  Both sides got points for eliminating the opposing side's heroes.
With a lucky shot from one of their heavy weapons, the smaller Imperial force takes out the gun turret on the bunker in the very first turn, momentarily demoralizing the defenders.
It was a tough battle, with the Rebels squeezed between two forces, but the "Good Guys" were able to badly hurt and and then halt the smaller diversionary attacking force,  while the bigger Imperial force, with the armored support,  made some slow headway, but just wasn't able to get the points it needed.
In the end, it was a Rebel Victory.  The Rebels had protected more of the structures (7) than the Empire was able to destroy (5); and had killed two of the Imperial Heroes and had lost only 1 (Han Solo).  All in all a fun battle!
As the attackers approach the bunker, a squad of rampaging Wookies bursts out the bunker's door and charges them.  Though most of the walking carpets are quickly cut down by laser fire, a few manage to pull a limb or two off a couple poor storm troopers.

Hearing the howls of the Wookie charge, the Sand People come out of their hiding places, and begin sniping at the Imperial troops from a tall cliff in their rear.

As the battle rages on the AT-AT gets closer and closer. It takes several hits, but none penetrate.

With many of their compatriots dead or wounded, some troopers slowly approach one of the vaporators to blow it up.

With time running out, Princess Leia rushes from cover and plants a thermal detonator on the leg of the AT-AT.  It explodes with a Penetrating Hit, causing the large machine to topple over.

Despite the destructing of the AT-AT, the special commando squad it was carrying survives, and exits the wreckage, laser blasting. They critically wound the Leia (Reduced from 9 Endurance Points to 1), and move in for the kill,;as rebel troops from all around rush out of their cover and towards the Princess to save her.  Then, having spent most of the game  hiding, Luke runs out to her aid, helping her get to safety.  At that point the game was all but over.  We played a few more turns, but with the loss of their AT-AT the writing was on the wall for the Empire.

After the Star Wars game, we reset the table for some Pulp action featuring Nazis trying to commandeer Santa's Zeppelin on Christmas Eve.  The rules we used where Blood and Swash skirmish rules, with some slight modifications to make them more Pulp flavored.
Along with Santa and his daughter Nicole, there were a variety of defenders which started on the Zeppelin; including Toy Soldiers, Teddy Bears, Elf Militia,  Else, Anna, Kristof and Sven from Frozen, Hermie and Rudolph from Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer,  perennial HAWKS action hero Duke Morrison and his buddies, including "Wrench" Webb with some infantry, and "Boats Morgan" with some Sailors.     The Nazis brought along the Wicked Witch and her mechanical flying monkeys, as well as some Evil Snowmen.
A long view of the zeppelin game
To win, the Santa and his friends needed to load six special A Christmas Story themed tokens (Leg Lamp, Red Ryder BB Gun, Fra-Gee-Lay Crate, Pink Bunny Slippers, Blue Bowling Ball and Can of Simonize, and a Almost Cooked Turkey, that were spread around the Zeppelin, and load them on to his sleigh before the actual time hit 11:55PM.  At that point Santa's Sleigh would have to launch out the loading bay doors and on to deliver the presents.  If something happened to Santa, then his Daughter Nicole, Elsa, Anna, or Hermie the Elf were also qualified to be able to drive the sleigh.   The Nazis had to prevent the sleigh from launching by either stealing the special tokens, delaying the good guys from retrieving the tokens, or killing all the eligible drivers.
Evil Snowmen and Nazis fight "Boats" Morgan and his sailors out on the mooring dock, while some of the bad guys head up the ramp and into the ship.
It was a fun game with the Good Guys worrying at first that their animated toys were no match for the enemies' automatic weapons; but eventually the Nazi's isolated entry points (some came up the front ramp, and some entered at the left and right nacelle access hatches) allowed Santa and his friends to isolate them and slowly eliminate them.  What did hamper the Good Guys was locating the last present and getting it into the sleigh on time With less than a minute left, an Elf Militiaman was able to toss the leg lamp into the sleigh, and it safely took off, guaranteeing a Merry Christmas for all the good little boys and girls.
A closer view of the action inside.

Marshmallow, the evil snow monster, takes on some soldiers inside the zeppelin.

A Teddy Bear officer battles two Nazis.

As the clock ticks down (just visible above the zeppelin's tail fin on the left) players rush to achieve their objectives.

In the final seconds, one of the Elf Militia tosses the Leg Lamp into the sleigh, as Elsa prepares to take off, along with Kristof.  Santa had been taken out earlier by one of the Wicked Witch's Flying Monkey Leaders.

HAWKs' New Year's Eve Game-aganza!

It has become the tradition with the HAWK's that every New Year's Eve Buck Surdu and his wife, Candy, host a gaming get-together to ring in the New Year.  This year was no exception; with a fun filled event full of good food, good friends, and good gaming.
We started off in the afternoon with a Dr Who Christmas-themed game that I ran using GASLIGHT rules, called "The 12 Doctors of Christmas".    The scenario was that Santa had mysteriously disappeared and the allied forces of evil (Daleks, Cybermen, Sontarans, and Weeping Angels) were taking the opportunity to overthrow the North Pole.   Rallying against them were various North Pole Defenders. There were also seven incarnations of the Doctor, each with a single companion, (We didn't have enough players for all 12 Doctors) there to help solve the mystery of where Santa had gone.  Once they found Santa (assuming they did), they needed to get him aboard the TARDIS with one of the Doctors and fly him to safety.
The puzzle I made up for the Doctor Who game.
While the battle between the North Pole Defenders and  the Allied Evil Forces was pretty straight forward, I decided to incorporate a puzzle for the Doctors to solve during the game.  To do this I borrowed an idea that my friend Sam Fuson uses to good effect in his GASLIGHT Sherlock Holmes games: I bought a cheap 24 piece puzzle at the local Dollar Tree store, and wrote the location of Santa on the back of the center 8 pieces of the puzzle.  (See photo above)  I then mixed up these pieces and put them in a brown paper bag.  Then, when I was setting up the terrain, I scattered 10 small present tokens on the table to represent "clues".  During the game, each time one of the Doctors spent a turn adjacent to one of these present "clues" he was able to "decipher the clue" by pulling a random puzzle piece from the bag.  Only the Doctors were able to decipher these clues, though other figures could bring the clues to any Doctor to decipher.  Likewise, the bad guys couldn't destroy clues, but they could pick them up and hold them, thus denying them to the other side.
A look at the table near the start of the 12 Doctors of Christmas game.  The good guys entered from the left, and the bad guys entered on the right.
To make things more difficult for the Doctors, I had 3 different colored spheres on the table (Christmas Ornaments turned into terrain) , so just the "SPHERE" puzzle piece wouldn't give the answer away immediately. And I had several red objects on the table, so jus the "RED" card wouldn't give the answer away to early either.
Some Weeping Angels guard a present token "clue" in one of the train cars.
In the end, it worked out perfectly, as the Doctors recovered present tokens, and then drew the cards in this order: "IN", "TRAPPED", "RED", "SPHERE".  Also, they drew the last card just as the battle was reaching its peak, and swirling around the very red sphere where Santa was hidden.
The 11th Doctor checks out a "clue" as the snow monster from Frozen, and the Bumble fight in a melee nearby.  Sontarans line the fence, and are being pelted by snowball-throwing kids, and magical snowmen with peppermint-stick guns.
With the forces of evil closing it, it was Elsa (Yes, that Elsa, from Frozen!) who was able to shoot an icy bolt which shattered the sphere and freed Santa, just as the North Pole Defenders were collapsing.  On the next Doctor card,  the TARDIS was summoned, and Santa was able to get on board.
Toy Soldiers attempt to hold back a unit of Cybermen and some Daleks. Note the red sphere where Santa is trapped.
In the final two turns however, the forces of Evil were able to tighten their noose, and no Doctor was able to make it to the TARDIS to fly Santa to safety.  With no hope of the Doctors succeeding, I called the game and declared it a marginal Evil side victory.
As the clues come together, the forces from both sides begin to converge on the sphere.
The game turned out to be a real nail-biter, going right down to the final turns as the remaining Doctors tried desperately, and failed, to get to the TARDIS.  It was a lot of fun for the players as well as me in the roll of GM.
After the game, we packed it up, and then took a break for a yummy beef stew dinner.
At last Santa is freed, but it may be too late!
We reconvened after dinner for a WWII game using "Combat Patrol" rules, which Buck Surdu GMed.   The scenario had American glider troops trying to grab a German held bridge that ran over a river.
I commanded a German reinforcement squad that entered from the table edge on turn 2.
The game began with fierce melee on the far side of the bridge.
I decided to enter mounted on a halftrack that was commanded by another player.  This unfortunately resulted in my squad having to disembark in two different locations, and becoming split up.  I then thought the halftrack was going to give me fire support with it's MG, but instead it pulled out right as I was preparing to attack an enemy unit.  I was caught between a rock and a hard place and ended up getting my two fireteams shredded.
The halftrack driver fails a morale check and ends up driving the vehicle up onto the bridge.  It is quickly overrun with American's and is eventually captured after a spirited defense by the crew.
Unfortunately, my fellow defenders were faring no better than I, and the American superior firepower was able to quickly overcome our defenses.    With the collapse of our ability to hold the objective, the game was declared an American victory.  Despite our dismal performance the game was still a lot of fun!
The Americana's prepare for the final push across the river.
It was now getting close to midnight, so we decided to set up a quick X-Wing game to fill the remaining time.  I was exhausted at this point so opted to sit this one out and just chatted with the other guests.
The X-wing game that lasted two years; starting in 2016, and ending in 2017. :)
At midnight  everyone came and watched the ball drop, and toasted the New Year with some champagne.  The diehards then went on to complete the X-Wing game, as the rest of us sat around and talked about the year behind us and the one ahead.
The gang toasts the New Year.
It was a great evening and is truly one of the high points of the Holiday season.  A big thanks goes out to the Surdu family for once again hosting an excellent evening of fun!

HAWKs New Year's Eve Gaming Party

As has become the tradition, every NewYear's Eve, HAWKs member Buck Surdu and his family host a gaming party for the club.  This year we got to play two fun miniatures games, and a couple boxed tabletop games before the clock struck midnight.
The first game, run by Buck, was a large 14-player Pulp free-for-all using GASLIGHT rules.  It involved Nazis, Arabs, Cultists, US and other Allied Soldiers, Duke Morrison and his gang, as well as Indiana Jones and his buddies, The Sergeants Three, Lara Croft, and a host of others!  Everyone had their own objectives they needed to accomplish in order to score points. Highest points won.
An overview of the table for the Pulp GASLIGHT game.
A Nazi archeologist had uncovered some artifacts at a pyramid on one corner of the table, and the group of French I was commanding along with a team of Main Characters, called The Wild Bunch, had similar objectives of killing Arabs, and stealing the artifacts near the pyramid. The French also had the task of destroying the Platypus statue that stood near the pyramid.
Carnage ensues in one of the towns as several factions fight for control of a truck.
I started at the far end of the table unfortunately, so had to hike a considerable distance.  Luckily, a another player drove a truck nearby my French unit, and they were able to waylay it and commandeer it from its lone Arab driver and Boats Morgan who was standing on the running board trying to fight the driver himself.  However, no sooner had I stolen the truck, then a second one approached and I got greedy.  I thought I remembered that this truck only had a lone Arab driving it as well, so I only sent half my French unit to grab the second truck while the rest of the unit mounted on the first truck. To my surprise however, the second truck was bristling with angry gun-toting Arabs, who made quick work of the approaching Frenchman.  At that point the rest of the unit in the first truck, sped off towards their objective, while the going was good.
US Soldiers attempt to drive off the Nazi She-Wolves from the archeological site; as a mummy, awoken from his tomb, rampages.
My other unit, the Wild Bunch, continued to hoof it on foot, and approached a ridge where a unit of Arabs had taken up position and were taking long range potshots at the Nazi She-Wolves guarding the artifacts at the pyramid.  I was hoping I could get up behind them and open fire before they turned around, but they got the initiative snd turned and charged at my unit.  A multi-turn melee then took placed, where the Wild Bunch and the Arab unit ground each other down until only one member of the Wild Bunch was left and a couple surviving Arabs had fled off the ridge.
At this point the game was winding down, and my French had driven their truck straight trough the archeological site, crushing one of the artifacts and a couple of the Nazi guards as well. They pulled up the truck just next to the Platypus statue and jumped out and ran to the statue. The final activation deck of the game was begun, and when the French card was called I pushed the plunger on my dynamite charge, and blew the statue and the remains of the unit as well.  Only the French Captain survived, being blown clear of the blast; and the Platypus statue was destroyed.
The game was a blast, and everyone had a great time! I ended up coming in second place with 20 points for destroying the statue.
My French Captain looks on at the wreckage as the Platypus statue, and his command, at the game's end.
After a dinner break, we reconvened to play the traditional Santa-themed game.  This was run by Kurt Schlegel, and used the same desert terrain the first game did.  In this scenario Santa and his forces had traveled to the desert island lair of the Goblins to rescue some prisoners that the Goblins had kidnapped during their last raid on the North Pole.  I was given command of a unit of Teddy Bears, their cannon, and Hermie the elf (of dental aspiration fame!)  I was part of the main force tasked with clearing one of the two towns and searching for prisoners.
GM Kurt Schlegel, instructs a player at the start of the Santa Claus game.
My forces were slowly ground down by Goblin archery fire from the town as I approached, and my cannon crew was eaten by the Goblins' dragon.  As I reached the outskirts, the Goblins charged forth and a big melee ensued.
Santa, his trusty sidekick Polar Bear, a clockwork nutcracker, Giant Minion toy, and the North Pole Elf Militia enter from one end of the town.
After a couple turns of melee, the remaining Goblins fled, but my command had been badly mauled.  Luckily my co-commanders had done better, destroying or routing most of the Goblin army, so the Santa force was declared the winners.
My Teddy Bear forces prepare to assault the other end of town, as the Goblins line up on the outskirts and prepare to meet us.
Afterwards we played a fun game of Red Dragon Inn, and the Star Trek game Five Year Mission, until midnight, when we toasted the New Year.   It was a great evening shared with friends and a great way to usher in 2016!

HAWK's Annual New Year's Eve Extravaganza...or ...Duke Morrison Saves Christmas!

Last Wednesday, December 31st, the HAWKs (Harford Area Weekly Kriegspielers) gathered for their annual New year's Eve gaming extravaganza.  This event, where the club members meet new Year's Eve afternoon and play games until the New Year strikes, has been hosted for the past several years by HAWK's member Buck Surdu and his wife Candy.  We gathered at 3:00 PM this year, and began the festivities with a Pulp themed GASLIGHT game called "Duke Morrison Saves Christmas!"     Duke Morrison is Buck's perennial Pulp hero, and appears in most all his games set in that era.  He is usually given such heroic stats, that the mention of his name is often followed by the villainous catchphrase, "I hate that guy!" from anyone who has played on the "Bad Guy" side opposite him .

Santa, his Elf Bodyguard, and his crashed sleigh on the edge of town
The set up for this scenario, which took place in the sleepy town of Granville, Illinois (a town from Buck's childhood that he also often uses as the setting for his Pulp games), was that evil Venusians had shot down Santa's sleigh as it flew over the town.   The sleigh had crashed on the edge of town spilling it's load of gifts across the town as it went down.  Hearing Santa's "Mayday!" as his sled went down, our hero Duke Morrison ("'We hate that guy!"),  has flown his trusty plane, "Anything But a 20!", to a park outside of town to give Santa and his gifts a ride and saving Christmas for millions of Boys and Girls across the globe. He has brought along his pals "Wrench" Webb and "Boats" Morgan,  and some of their Army and Navy buddies to help out,
Duke's plane landed in  a park on the other end of town.
Meanwhile, the evil Venusians have also landed their spacecraft in the park, and are setting out to steal Santa's sleigh and its magic flight technology (their evil plan all along). Coincidentally, Nazi agents and Fifth Columnists had also arrived in the town to kidnap Santa as he made his rounds to learn his magical mass-production secrets. They are quick to take advantage of Santa's current misfortune.  And lastly, local opportunistic scum and villainy see all the loot being scattered across town from Santa's crashing sleigh, and set about to gather as many of the fallen presents as possible.
The Venusian craft have also landed.

So as the game begins, Santa and his helpers from the North Pole are tasked with gathering as many of the lost gifts as possible, and getting Santa and his damaged sleigh to Duke's waiting plane, while Duke and his friends attempt to clear a path to Santa and help him get everything to the plane
A view of the town.
As one can imagine, wonderful chaos ensued!  See the photos for some of the highlights
The Penguins, Skipper, Rico, Kowowski and Private take on a unit of Evil Snowmen.

Santa, with the Reindeer hooked back to the sleigh, begins to move through town, as the Elf Bodyguard are tasked with gathering up fallen presents. A large mechanical nutcracker, and two robot Santas soon join in the effort and help push the sleigh.

Chaos in the streets! In the foreground, Moonracer's Marauders take on a truck full of gangsters, as Santa's Elf Chefs set up a Hot Chocolate Catapult on a nearby rooftop.

After a few turns, Yukon Cornelius and the Bumble arrive and liberate a local truck, take aboard a squad of Teddy Bear soldiers, and hitch it to the front of Santa's sleigh to help move it along faster.  This frees up the reindeer to start recovering gits from the rooftops. Meanwhile the forces of evil are converging on the street Santa is heading down and a wild rolling melee develops.

Several players try ramming the sleigh with commandeered trucks, as others climb aboard to melee, but somehow Santa manages to make all his saving rolls.

As the game wound down, and dinner time arrived, the game was called  as Santa reached a point where few obstacles stood in his way of reaching the outskirts of town and Duke's plane.  The game was declared a  "Good Guy"  victory.
After the GASLIGHT game was over at around 7:30, we took a dinner break and then set up a large Star War's X-Wing game.  HAWK's member, Bill Acheson, brought along his Deep Space 9 space station model from the Star Trek Attack Wing game, and that was used as an Imperial communications satellite which the Rebels were tasked with destroying.  The game was a lot of fun and finished with a Rebel Victory with the destruction of the satellite, but at a heavy cost.
Big X-Wing game
The X-wing game finished up at around 11:20, and some of the more hardy members set up a game of Red Dragon Inn to finish the night with.  After a short break at midnight to toast the New Year with some champagne, the game went on until 2:00 AM until a winner was declared.
Red Dragon Inn
As always this is a great way to usher in the New Year with a bunch of friends.  And many thanks are due to the Surdus for once again hosting a great evening of games.
