Trinket Box

Hello everyone. Shanna here to share with you and I love it.

The Timekeeper collection is just amazing. I love these papers. I had this trinket box that was waiting for some love. I started by painting all the edges with some gold acrylic paint. Then I wanted to tone it down with the papers.

I had this chipboard compass I covered with some embossing powder to tuck underneath my knob.

I really love the contrast of the silver and the gold.

I finished off my box with some Petaloo flowers and popped this badboy on my shelf so I can start filling him up with some goodies.

Items Used:
Acrylic Paint
Embossing Powder
Petaloo Flowers

I have the habit of saving packages and boxes that can be turned into a beautiful gifts.

This package used for gourmet popcorn
was embellished and became a beautiful container for cookies,
it will be given to a friend who does not like chocolates.

To accompany an envelope containing tea bags for a special moment.

Everything was done with beautiful papers, embellishments and metallic resin flowers Marion

and , to give a patina effect,
the entire set was sanded after dry well.

The project was decorated with beautiful paper flowers Petaloo and small  resin roses by Marion  Smith

Beautiful metal ornaments gave an additional charm to the piece,
which emphasized soft colors and delicate embellishments.

Is ready to hang on a wall and convey the message that this is:

It's Peggy Lee here to share with you a little spring inspiration
and an egg tutorial on how I created this
little pretty!
3D Egg-"Spring" Home Decor
Grab a hot cup of coffee and enjoy it's a long blog post,
tons of photo-inspiration....
3 D Egg Tutorial
Grab your favorite paper I used the Mad Tea Party papers...
1. Draw an egg shape onto your papers
and cut out.
2. Fold in half, use a bone folder
to give you a good crease.
3. Distress the egg edges
4. Adhere your egg paper pieces
together
keep going until all the egg paper pieces
are all adhered together
I used about 8 egg shapes
5. I like the shabby look so I distressed
again after adhered...helps hide the uneven edges.
6. Also for another shabby feel, I like to
brush gesso over the edges...optional
All together now decorate to your hearts content!
I used a dollar store candle stick,
Die cut out some flowers, embossed them adhere together....
Nestled the egg in the center of flower on a bed
of cheese cloth!! Added some flowers, pearls and butterfly cut out
of the papers....
A little banner touch-fussy cut out a few banner shapes...
stamped "spring" using Marion's Typo stamp set
adhered to a pink string floss-gesso the edges!!!

Thanks for stopping by today....

Wall Art "Valentine Rose" & Tutorial

Good morning today I bring you some Valentine eye candy!!
I have started early creating my own wall art/home decor for our home.
Using the Mad Tea Party paper collection by Marion Smith....and embellishment page
to create my Valentine Rose wall art piece.
I love the shabby chic vintage feel and look...

The lovely embellishment pages from the Mad Tea Party
paper line works great for wall art, cards, scrapbook pages.

Wall Art Tutorial
Prime wood piece with gesso, add texture with your favorite mask/stencil.
Spray your favorite mist...I used glimmer mist!
Give it a white wash with gesso...that is your background to build upon.
Rip the edges of the paper you choose, along with tearing holes
in your paper to give old feel...distress the edges with ink.
I also used a wet paint brush to moist the edges to curl up...
Pick your favorite flowers and embellishments...I gesso the fake
flowers and glimmer mist the Petaloo white flowers...great way to get the color you want.
Wood Veneers are great to add to your project...colored
with glimmer mist..stamp on and cut apart to tuck into your project.

Mad Tea Party Chalkboard by Tonya Gibbs

Hi everyone, I hope you are having a fantastic weekend.   Today I would like to share with you a Mirror that I altered with Marion's super fab Mad Tea Party Line.

I used these patterns from the paper collection

I bought an unfinished wooden mirror and frame from a craft supply story.   I removed the mirror and stained the sides and back with Tattered Angels' Cork Glimmer Mist.  This frame is 11.25 x 9.25 inches with a 5x7 opening.

After the Glimmer Mist has dried, I covered the entire frame with Claudine Hellmuth Studio Matte Medium.  I applied several coats to the top surface to insure my paper overlay would adhered to the wood.  The Matte Medium seals the wood and the Tattered Angels spray.

I then added my paper to the top of the frame.  To insure that I didn't get the hole cut incorrectly, I decided to affix the entire paper to the frame.  I used a brayer to make sure all the air bubbles were removed from the paper. I allowed the paper to completely dry.

Then I flipped the frame over and trimmed out the hole with an x-acto knife.   I then applied another coat of Matte Medium over the paper.  Set this aside and allow it to dry.

Then I painted several coats of this Glass Chalkboard Paint by DecoArt on the Mirror. Make sure you don't leave streak marks in the paint, and allow it to dry completely between each coat. If you plan to paint a surface that is going to be used in a dishwasher, make sure you follow the directions on the bottle and bake the item to cure the paint. Since I'm not washing this project, I let it completely dry for 24 hours before I wrote on the chalkboard.

Once the board was completely dry, I added it back to the frame.  I rubbed chalk over the board and cleaned it off with a dry paper towel.  This seasons the board so that the chalk runs smoothly over the surface.  Then I decorated the left and bottom to make the frame more interesting.

I made the flower that is used for the focal piece.

Here is a Youtube video showing you how I made these flowers.

This frame will make a nice Christmas gift for one of my friends.  I love how simple it was to create. It could be hung on the wall, or propped on an end table with a decorative easel.

Thanks for stopping in today,
