Wow I was a lucky girl as I have IndigoBlu's amazing Blazing Poppies stamp to use in my role on the Through the Purple Haze DT! I've seen IndigoBlu products used in the past but never had any to play with myself so this was a real treat.
I challenged myself to step away from the traditional poppy and do something different so I coloured my poppies pink. It's a beautiful stamp to use - it stamps so cleanly. I thought the sentiment was very appropriate for the beautiful flowers. It's a freebie digi from Ginger's House
I coloured the poppies using my Promarkers and added highlights with a Gold Pilot SuperGel pen & a Sakura Gelly Roll
Promarkers and Flexmarkers used:
Poppies - Cerise, Shocking Pink*, Vermillion*, Maroon
Center of Poppies - Walnut with Gold Polit SuperGel Highlights
Leaves - Green, Lush Green
Backing - Buttercup
I used my Creative Memories shaped corner punch to shape each of the layers. I always colour the matting layer with one of the Promarkers I used in the image so I have a co-ordinating layer.
I coloured the butterfly using my Sakure Gelly Roll XPG#700
In this photo you can also see the gold highlights on the Poppy's stamen.
Now this stamp is so lovely that I couldn't stop at just one card so I decided to keep playing!
I used another freebie sentiment from Gingers House for this card. A friend is going through a hard time at the moment and I thought this would be nice to send to her.
Promarker colours:
Poppies - Yellow, Sunflower, Gold, Pumpkin & Orange
Poppy Centers - Sunflower with Gold Pilot SuperGel Stamen
Small Flowers - Pumpkin, Orange
Leaves - Forest Green & Pine
Background - Meadow Green
I coloured the Poppy Stamens and Butterfly with the Gold Pilot SuperGel pen. I love the shimmery effect it gives.
Even these two cards weren't enough - I couldn't resist making a third! This time I decided to go down a more traditional route and use Red Poppies. As Remembrance Sunday is only a month away it seemed appropriate to use the 'They Shall not Grow Old' quote which I typed myself. I didn't feel the butterfly fitted with the theme so I removed the ink from that section of the stamp after inking it so it didn't appear on the final image.
I coloured the image using my Promarkers (what else!) but found the Poppies didn't 'pop' as much as I wanted them to. I tried some new pens I've bought recently and added a layer of Red Sakura Glaze pen and a couple of layers of the Clear Sakura Glaze Pen. This let the shading of the Promarker colouring show through, but gave it an almost enamelled effect so they really stood out.
Poppies - Red, Berry Red, Crimson, Burgundy topped with Red and Clear Sakura Glaze pens
Poppy Centres - Walnut, Gold Pilot SuperGel Pen
Leaves - Forest Green, Pine
Background - Buttercup
This shows the Glaze a bit better, but it's very difficult to capture on camera. It was a bit of an experiment but I'm really pleased with how it turned out.
I really hope you like my array of Blazing Poppies. I love how using a different colourway and changing the angle of the stamped image can make it look so different.
I'm looking forward to seeing what you can make with IndigoBlu products to enter into the Through the Purple Haze Challenges. Don't worry if you don't have any IndigoBlu products - there's a separate 'Anything Goes' challenge running at the same time.
Very proud to be sponsored by IndigoBlu
