Anything Goes with Rick St Dennis & Digi Galore Challenges

Oh I had fun making the card with Hippo Birdy 2 Shoes from Rick St Dennis
Hippo Birdy 2 Shoes just jumped at me when I was looking through Rick's Etsy Store. He's such fun & it's great to find an image that works well for male cards.

I kept the card clean and simple with Hippo Birdy 2 Shoes as the focus.
I was more than a little scared about colouring him, but am over the moon with how he turned out.

I coloured him with my Copics:
E40, E42, E43, E44, E47, E49, E79
His Hat is B63, B66, B69, B79 with United Office Silver Metallic Marker
Party Blower - R35, R37, R39, R59, W7, Y02, Y08
The background is coloured with Sakura Tiara Gel Pens.

The sentiment is a freebie from Bird Cards

He bought such a smile to my face - I hope he has to yours too.

Anything But a Card with Digi Galore

Our challenge this month at Digi Galore Challenges is to make Anything But a Card.
I had a think and decided to make myself a new notebook cover for my Acrylic notebook.
I love this notebook as I can change the design as often as I want & can even refill with clean pages.
I use it to keep track of the colours I use when colouring things.

I used paper from My Minds Eye 6x6 Indie Chic Paper Pad
& DCWV Cardstock (edges inked with Copics)

I coloured her with my Copics
Skin - E000, E00, E21, E11, E04 with R20 Cheeks
Hair - Y11, Y15, Y17, YR24, E35
Hat - E30, E31, E33, E35, E37, E39
Flower - YR12, YR16, YR18, YR27
Top - BG18, BG49
Skirt - E51, E53, E55

I coloured her hat with lots of cross hatching to try to give the texture of a straw hat.

I really hope you like her & hope to see you at Digi Galore Challenges.

A Father's Day with Doctor Digi

Gosh My third post for today!

Wow! I'm ahead of the game for once! Two weeks early and my Father's Day card is made!
Admittedly I had a little prompting as it's the theme for today's Digi Galore Challenge.

Our sponsor is Doctor Digi and I couldn't resist using Summer Holiday as it's just so fitting for my Dad with year. It doesn't look like him ( he doesn't have a super moustache), but what it shows is just so right! They were due to go off travelling this summer exploring areas of Europe. Unfortunately two weeks in their camper broke down & the trip came to an unexpected stop. After a flight home & the camper coming home on a transporter it will hopefully be fixed soon so they can be off on their adventure again soon.

So that's why I couldn't resist Summer Holiday
I'm sure some of you won't be able to resist him either!

I did something quite unusual for me and A) I used patterned paper and B) I used that as the basis for my card so chose the colour of the digi items to co-ordinate in.
A little thing I know and what many many people do - it's just something I've always found challenging.

The papers are from the Papermania All Aboard 6x6 paper pad which I got from That Craft Place
I used one main sheet as the background and mounted it on dark blue cardstock.
I cut out the 'Are we there yet' ticket and August calendar page from other sheets of the paper and embellished them with Glossy Accents before attaching them to the backing paper.
I also added Glossy Accents to the 'pin heads' on the noticeboard to make them stand out a little more.

I coloured Summer Holiday with my Copics & a Metallic gel pen.

I added a final touch of Glossy Accents to his glasses, the camper windscreen and the chome body work, then edged the card with the postcard edging from the sheet of borders in the Papermania All Aboard paper stack.

I really hope you like him & we'd love to see the cards you create for your Dad over at Digi Galore Challenge.

Alter a Notebook

Here's this month's challenge at Digi Galore Challenges
The challenge is to alter a notebook and/ or use florals. With Aurora Wings as our sponsor combining the two was super easy.

I chose the lovely Poppies and made her the focus of the cover of my notebook. It's my crafty mainstay - I keep my Copic colours in, references of all sorts of things and notes of what what colours I've used (well unless I do them on a piece of paper & put them in a 'safe and sensible place'). It's got acrylic coves so I can change to cover regularly depending on my mood and inspiration.

I added a touch of Sakura Stardust Gel Pen to the sentiment which I typed myself.

It's a bit tricky to catch on camera but I added some Wink Of Stella to the highlights of the poppies and her lips and eyeshadow.

I hope you like her and really hope you'll join us at  Digi Galore Challenges

New Home with Make it Crafty

Time for a new challenge at Digi Galore  and this time the theme is New Home.

We're sponsored by the lovely Make it Crafty.

It was so difficult to choose which of the lovely images to use,
but I finally settled on Enchanted Castle.
I kept the card simple as the digi is so detailed.
I made the sentiment myself.

I had great fun colouring this - but who knew a little rainbow would involve 28 Copics!!!

Mother's Day/ One for the Girls at Digi Galore

Time for a new challenge at Digi Galore.

With Mother's Day coming up in the UK I thought I'd be organised (for once) and get ahead of the game.

This is what I made with Craft Star from Kenny K. Yes that's right - one of my favourite Digi Artists sponsoring one of my favourite challenge blogs (and come back tomorrow for more treats).

I kept the card clean and simple as I wanted the image being the main focus.

I coloured Craft Star with my Copics

Skin - E000, E00, E21, E11, E04 with R20 Cheeks
Hair - E42, E43, E45, E47, E49, E23
Top - RV06,
Apron -
Jeans - BV23, BV25, BV27, BV29

The Sentiment is from Pink Petticoat and I added the words 'Handmade of Course' at the bottom.
I drew over the words Mother's Day with my Sakura Stardust pen to give it a hint of shimmer.

I really hope you like it. Check back tomorrow for some more Kenny K love.

Digi Galore is Back!

Woo Hoo! After a few months off Digi Galore Challenges are back :D
We've got a new format - our challenges will be running each month on the 1st of the month.
We've got some amazing sponsors lined up so I hope you come along and join in.

Our sponsor this month is That Craft Place.
Now for some reason I've always been wary of the Sugar digis. I've no idea why - a bit of a mental block for me for some reason. Luckily that block has now lifted as after playing with Balloon High I'm completely in love. I can see me colouring many more of these in the future.

I kept my design fairly clean and simple as I wanted to focus on the image and the sentiment (also from That Craft Place)

I made the background using a range of my blue Copics in my Blitzer Hand Airbrush (the 1990's version of the Tim Holtz Sprtizer). I love the effect it gives for skies.

Here's a close up of  Balloon High. I coloured her with my Copics.

I tried to make the balloons slightly transparent so the ones behind show through the ones in front.
I also added some Wink of Stella all over to give them a metallic shimmer.

I hope you like my card & would love to see your entries into the Digi Galore Challenge. It's 'Anything Goes' so nice and easy.

A Halloween Frame with Rick St Dennis

Woo Hoo!!! Digi Galore Challenges is back!!!

We've had a lovely break over the summer but it's great to be back!

What a way to start - with Rick St Dennis as a Sponsor!

The theme of course is Halloween - what else could it be?

This week I've been staying at a crafty friend's house. It's been a lovely week, not only cos it's given me a chance to spend time with her, but also because it's given me a chance to play with her stash! She's got Brushos which I've seen demo'd but not tried myself so I decided to use them to make a backing for Mystique from Rick St Dennis.

I love the vibrancy and intensity of the Brushos but need much more practice to get the subtle sprinked effect that I've seen demo'd

I coloured Mystique with my friend's Promarkers. It's been a while since I've coloured with Promarkers & I'd forgotten what lovely pens they are. I don't get people who say they're not as good as Copics. they have a different nib so behave differently, but they're just as good.

I used:
Skin - Blush, Sunkissed Pink, Coral, Burnt Orange with Pastel Pink cheeks
Hair - Cocoa, Chestnut, Walnut (with E29 & E49 Copic added for depth - that's the one thing the Pro's are missing)
Hat - Royal Blue, Indigo Blue, Black
Roses - Arctic Blue, True Blue.

It's hard to catch on a straight photo but on the angle you can sort of see that the stars and hat band are coloured with Sakura Stardust pen and the draped fabric round the hat is coloured with Clear Wink of Stella pen so it shimmers and looks like organza.

I hope you like her. I've got a companion frame coming on Monday.

Encino Stamps & Digi Galore

Today is bliss for me - two of my favourite places coming together!

Perfect!!!!
The theme is Anything Goes so nice and easy.

The Digi I used is Sue with Teddy. I love her as she's so cute.

I decided to make something nice and easy so layered this card up using digital elements.
After adding a few drop shadows in Craft Artist 2 it looks like it's properly 3D.
The paper is from the digital Echo Park Scoot Paper Pack 1.

The Sentiment ifs a freebie from Gingers House.

I coloured Sue with Teddy with my Copics

Skin - E000, E00, E21, E11, E04 with R20 Cheeks
Hair - E11, E15, E17, E23
Top - BV02, BV05, BV09, B99
Shorts - ..... I can't remember :P
Teddy - E25, E27, E29

I hope you like her x

Beansie Doodles

It's challenge time again over at Digi Galore & this time the theme is Autumn.
Now in the middle of this heat wave it's a bit difficult to think about Autumn so I cheated a little and used autumnal colours rather a full on Autumnal theme.

I love this image from our sponsor Beansie Doodles
Jumpin' Jellybean actually comes as a pair of stamps (make sure to have a look). I'm looking forward to making a really cheeky card with this pair!

For today I chose to use just this one Jumpin' Jellybean

I used a nice red backing card from DCWV and coloured her in rich autumnal colours

Skin - E000, E00, E21, E11, E04 with R20 Cheeks
Hair - BV60, B31, C3, C5
Dress - R24, R27, R29, R59
Zimmer - C3, C5, C7

I added Clear Sakura Glaze Pen to her Glasses so it looks like glass.

The sentiment is from Create with TLC and I've added Sakura Glaze pen to it to add a little shine.

Do you like my new Watermarks? The lovely Sam of Autumn Moon Designs made them for me and I love it to bits!

I hope she's made you smile & look forward to seeing your entires at  Digi Galore

Something for my Craft Room

Every so often I move away from card making and make something a little different.
This week I made this framed picture to hang on the wall of my craft room.

The images are three digis from Scrappers Delights who are sponsoring our challenge at Digi Galore this fortnight.

Using Craft Artist 2 I merged

The three girls took ages to colour, but I'm really pleased with how they turned out. I was trying to follow the hair tips given in Kit and Clowder's Hair and Skin Class. I didn't get the skin right, but I'm pleased with their hair.

The sentiment came with Craft Honeys Scissors. I coloured the letters with my copics trying to give them some depth and dimension. I added stickles to give a touch of sparkle - cos every craft room needs sparkle.

Here are the girls in close up.

Skin - E000. E00. E21. E11. E04 - R20- Cheeks
Hair - Y00, Y02, Y11, Y15, YR23, E43

Nautical or Blue with Whimsy and Stars Studio

It challenge time over at Digi Galore and I had Amelie to the Beach to play with
from our sponsor Whimsy and Stars Studio.

I didn't have any beach or nautical themed papers in my collection so raided the internet and found the Summer Day's Freebie kit from Melissa Bennett on Sweet Shoppe Designs. I used 3 of the papers and some of the elements.

I made the sun in Craft Artist and added some Champagne Mist Stampin Up Multi Purpose Ink to give it some shimmer and shine.

The sentiment comes from Create with TLC.

Here's a close up of  Amelie to the Beach.

I coloured her with my Copics.

I hope you like her & hope you come and join us at Digi Galore x

A Funky Hand Tag

The challenge over at Digi Galore this fortnight is Tags. I have a friend who's completely addicted to tags so I've had a bit of practice making them, but I decided to keep clean and simple and make a tag bookmark with Georgie Night Night from our sponsors Funky Hand.

As I was making a bookmark I kept the dimensional embellishment to a minimum so it didn't get damaged when in use.

Here's a closer view of the tag.
I decorated the edges with Distress Inks - Chipped Sapphire, Seedless Preserve and Picked Raspberries.
I typed the sentiment and then drew over it with Stardust Sakura Gelly Pen to give it a bit of sparkle.
I added dots of Crystal Stickles around the edges and added some pink ribbon and funky trim.

Here you can see the shimmer of the Stardust Sakura Gel Pen.

I coloured Georgie Night Night with my Copics. I'm still learning, but enjoying playing with them.

Looking forward to seeing your tags over at Digi Galore x

Use Kraft

The challenge this week over at Digi Galore is to use Kraft card.
I don't often use Kraft card but it was nice to have a challenge to play with it.

Our sponsor this week is Art By Mi Ran and I used Girl with Dove paired with Cute Window to create this card.

I printed the card backing with the Stampin Up Woodgrain  Digi Stamp and typed my own sentiment.
I used distress inks to blend around the outside and to create a dark area behind the window opening.

Then I printed the Cute Window on the Kraft card and added 'wood grain' flicks with my Promarkers. I cut out the window, and the hearts in the shutters.

I coloured Girl with Dove with Promarkers and cut her out and mounted her so she was peeking out through the window releasing the dove to fly free.

I mounted the whole window on extra thick foam pads to give lots of dimension.

I really hope you like her x
