Pink-a-licious!
Just a little sneak of something I'm working on - and I must say, working with all of this pink makes me think of Pepto Bismol. Is anyone with me?
Stay tuned!

Rockies
Just fair warning for you - this post has nothing to do with stamping or anything crafty, just pure American baseball. My very sweet MIL scored us some amazing tickets to Saturday's Rockies game, and as it turned out, it was a double-header, so we got two games in these amazing seats - only 7 rows back from the dugout. I brought along my camera to keep practicing in that crazy manual mode and I wanted to share some pictures here - I think I found my calling - Karen Giron, Sports photographer. Nice. I think it fits. Of course I may be about $30K short on equipment, but what are ya gonna do?
Click on the pictures to see a larger (and crisper) image...
We started off by scoring FREE rock star parking right across from Coors Field - loving my day already. Not to mention it's the first time the sun was shining in 3 days - Happy Birthday to me!!
So here we are in the first game - Todd Helton at 1st base chatting it up with somebody Collins from the Florida Marlins. I think they're talking about me, the crazy chick taking all the pictures...
Foul tip - Tulowitzki aka "Tulo".
Ah, this guy. You can't watch baseball and not see a bunch of "grabbing" but this guy... he grabbed himself about 5 times as part of his batting routine every time he came up to bat. This just made me giggle, so I had to post it.
Call to the bull pen - Sorry Greg, but you stunk it up!
Don't you DARE let that hose touch that sacred gravel - LOL! Another one that just makes me laugh - how many big guys does it take to carry a hose...
They ran the fountains between games since we didn't get any homeruns in the first game. Just practicing my "show movement" assignment - right Sarah?
Now we're in the 2nd game - much better pitching this go 'round.
Swing!
....and out at home.
Well, thanks for humoring me with all this baseball business. See you back soon for all things crafty!
Karen

Howdy! Looks like I've got some major clean-up to do on my sidebar since I added new blog graphics, so please pay no attention to the woman behind the curtain...

Slightly Distracted
I've been distracted. Distracted by her.
And this little one.
...the kids, not the chickens.
Why all the distraction, you ask?
Because of her.

Lookie What I Did!!
Good morning!! I'm just a tad excited this morning because I got this amazing stamp in the mail yesterday! "What stamp is THAT amazing?", you ask? Well, let me tell you! Here's the story:
When we were setting up the booth at CHA last month we were looking through the Baker's Dozen card samples and Melissa Sauls had this really cute stamp on the back of her cards and I didn't! Yes, I often want what other people have, it's just a sickness really. Anyway... when I got home I was looking for a company that would take custom images and make them into stamps - I found RubberStamps.net and the process started. I have a little logo I made for my Etsy shop and so I wanted a variation of this to be the image for my cards and LOOK -

Tee Hee!!! I Lurve It!! See, there's my little birdie :D
The bummer of it is, well - take a look...
Who the heck cut the rubber out and mounted this thing??? (Oh wow, that sounded really dirty...) Needless to say, it still stamps like a dream, so I'm cool with it. Maybe... haha! Yes, I'm loving it - seriously! Can you tell?
Edited: It was only $10 including shipping!!

a new look?
I'm trying to figure out a new look for my blog - what do you think of the new banner? I need to update the buttons in the margins now too - can't have it all mismatched now, can I?!! Fun stuff!
edited: I was asked if I made the banner - why, yes! I did! It's a proud moment :)

Can I toot my own horn for a moment?
Hello! I have some exciting news for you today - I need to toot my own horn for just a bit. I don't get to do this too often :) Today I got the November issue of Stampin' Success {a SU demonstrator magazine} in my mail box and look who is featured this month - little ol' me!
I've been busting from the seams not to tell anyone until now. Back in June, Stampin' Up! sent me an email asking me if I would like to be their featured stamper for November and I'd be a fool to turn that down! Over the next month, I was interviewed {btw, I am not very good with words, so you might get a laugh out of what I told SU in my interview.}, I was sent a brand new stamp set - Wandering Words {hot off the press even. They didn't have the labels stickers made yet!}, I made my samples, and mailed them in and finally I have my 2-page spread, haha!
Here is the layout ~
And here are the cards I sent in to publish ~
It was so much fun, and a little bit intimidating, to work with a stamp set that hadn't been released or pictured yet. I felt just a tad bit special, LOL!
Thank you so much for letting me ramble about myself this morning. I'll get back to business tomorrow, haha!
Have a wonderful day -
Karen

Stampin' Up! news
I'm sure many of you have heard the news that Stampin' Up! has changed the demonstrator contract and I'm heartbroken to announce that I'll be hanging up my demonstrator hat today. I have been in love with Stampin' Up! products from the day I went to my first workshop and only a few months after that I became a demonstrator. I had the great privilege to attend convention in 2005 with my upline and sister stampers and it was one of the best experiences I've had. {Hi girls! - Do any of you have the picture of all of us in front of the VW Bus???} I have wanted to attend others and was so upset that I couldn't attend the convention in Denver (hello - that's my backyard!!), but I was big and prego and penny pinching... anyway...
I've had an amazing stamping journey and it has led me to be on an amazing design team for Taylored Expressions. What a dream come true! And then last month to be added to the Dirty Dozen was beyond thrilling! I'm a hobby demonstrator and I can't justify boxing myself into a corner with one company - not able to spread my wings and fly when I'm not actively selling Stampin' Up! products. As I find more fabulous stamping products, I want to be able to share them with all of you {smile}!
I know many of you who visit my blog are Stampin' Up! demonstrators and I do hope you will continue to stop by and say hello because I sure do value your kind words and encouragement. You can bet I'll continue to use Stampin' Up! products here on my blog - I love them too much not to and one lucky demonstrator will make some $$ off of my addiction, lol!
Thank you so much for listening to my ramblings.
Happy stamping!

it's good to be dirty!
Pinch me - PLEASE pinch me! This is just too good to be true! I'm officially a Dirty Girl - part of the Dirty Dozen, aka the Splitcoaststampers design team!! I cannot believe I am a member of this amazing team of stampers, it is unreal! When Jenn Balcer emailed me asking me to give her a call, I was really curious and wondering: is this spam? Am I in trouble? Did I post something that was illegal and she was going to kick me out? Hahaha! NO! When I talked to her and she asked me to join the Dirty Dozen, I was floored! Me? Little ol' me? It didn't take long to answer YES! Of course I'll be a part of this fantastic group! That phone call made my summer. Thank you Jenn!
Every month members of the Dirty Dozen make exclusive projects {and now tutorials} for paying Splicoaststampers member to see. If you would like to become a member, you can see all the details, HERE.
I hope to see you in the Dirty Dozen Gallery! Stop by and say hi :)
Edited: OMG!!!! That's my card on the home page of Splitcoaststampers!!

help!
I have a quick question and I'm hoping you can help me out. Does anyone know where I can buy square envelopes, 4-1/2" or so? I make 4-1/4" square cards all the time and I'm running out of Stampin' Up!'s square envelopes from the Fresh Cut Notes and don't really want to buy more Notes just for envelopes, KWIM?
{EDITED} Thank you so much! I've never looked in the A*Muse store before, thanks Amy & Kristen. Oh how I wish I lived closer to an Archivers - the closest one is about an hour away. Miss that store... Maria - thanks for the link to the dressed-up envelopes, I will definitely do that when I mail square cards, that is SO cute!
I needed the square envelopes for my Etsy store, so this is all very helpful.
Thanks everyone!

business boost
Yes, I am in serious need of a business boost and so now I am just shamefully promoting it here on my blog, ha! Seriously though, I absolutely LOVE Stampin' Up! products and use them almost exclusively, however it's getting more and more difficult to remain a hobby demonstrator (I usually only stay active by purchasing items for myself or holding occasional classes in my home) and since Stampin' Up! has so graciously added an online store, I thought I would use my demonstrator website to see if anyone out there would be interested in shopping through my website. This is the ONLY time I'll be mentioning it in my blog posts. From now on I'll be displaying promotions and specials in my blog margins. I know many of you come to my blog for inspiration and ideas, not to be hit up to buy things, and I respect that.
So, with all that being said, here is the link to my website www.karengiron.stampinup.net. You can go to the online store by clicking on the 'Shop Now' button in the top right corner.
I would love to see if I can give discounts online, but I'm not intirely sure that is possible or legal, so I'll check it out and post information in the margins later. This is all so new to me, so please excuse the bumps along the way and feel free to email me if something isn't working correctly.
PLEASE NOTE: if you are currently purchasing merchandise from another Stampin' Up! demonstrator, please stay loyal to her/him. I am in no way wanting to steal customers.
Okay - I'll get to stamping and hopefully be able to post something for you later this afternoon.
Karen

warm welcome home
I'm home from my fantastic long weekend away and what is waiting for me when I arrive? I'm soooo excited to tell you that I had a message from Stampin' Up! telling me I had won the October WOW art file contest!! I was sooo shocked and thrilled and my husband thought I was a little goofy - ha! I can't even tell you how amazed I am and I just know that it's because of all of you who read my blog and leave such amazing, encouraging comments that I got up the nerve to send in a submission. You are all so sweet! SU will include my submission in the December issue of Stampin' Success, which is a demonstrator magazine. Ok, thanks for letting me toot my own horn for a bit!

leavin' on a jet plane
Yep! I leave today for Dallas (well Grapevine), TX for the MOPS convention and I thought I would have been able to pre post marvelous creations for you all, but it didn't happen. Time got lost on laundy, getting the house in order, writing stuff down for school schedules, packing, oh yeah - taking care of the kiddos, laundry again, cleaning up my MESSY office, and everything in between. Sorry folks. I'll be back Sunday, so hopefully I can get some creative mojo flowing for Monday. Have a fantastic weekend, y'all! Or is it all y'all? Just trying to get my Texas on. Ha! See you soon!

totally sucked in
to the Olympics! Wow, I don't think I've watched this much TV in, well, since football season ended. I'm so sucked into the Games, it's sad. How many world records will be broken in swimming this weekend? I love it all, the stories, the drama, the beautiful history... ahhh... Anyway, I'm going to get in some stamping tomorrow, I promise! I have a scrapbook page to finish up and I'll post it.
See you back soon!

you know you're from colorado when...
My mom sent me this in an email and it made me laugh. All you Colorado people, enjoy. Everyone else, you can just get a crazy look into life in CO, ha!
A winter statistic:
98% OF AMERICANS SCREAM BEFORE GOING IN THE DITCH
ON A SLIPPERY ROAD. THE OTHER 2% ARE FROM COLORADO AND THEY SAY, 'HOLD MY SODA AND WATCH THIS.
NOW:
You're from Colorado if...
-You'll eat ice cream in the winter.
-When the weather report says it's going to be 65 degrees, you shave your legs and wear a skirt.
-It snows 5 inches and you don't expect school to be cancelled.
-You'll wear flip flops every day of the year, regardless of temperature.
-You have no accent at all, but can hear other people's. And then you make fun of them.
-'Humid' is over 25%.
-Your sense of direction is: Toward the mountains and Away from the mountains.
-You say 'the interstate' and everybody knows which one.
-You think that May is a totally normal month for a blizzard.
-You buy your flowers to set out on Mother's day, but try and hold off planting them until just before Father's day.
-You grew up planning your Halloween costumes around your coat. {ahhh yes, it ALWAYS snows on Halloween}
-You know what the Continental Divide is.
-You don't think Coors beer is that big a deal.
-You went to Casa Bonita as a kid, and as an adult. {really gross food, very fun entertainment for kids}
-You've gone off-roading in a vehicle that was never intended for such activities.
-You always know the elevation of where you are.
-You wake up to a beautiful, 80 degree day and you wonder if it's going to snow tomorrow. {Very true - read this post if you don't believe me, ha!}
**You don't care that some company renamed it, the Broncos still play at Mile High**
-Every movie theater has military and student discounts.
-Everybody wears jeans to church.
-You actually know that ** South Park ** is a real place not just a show on TV.
-You know what a 'trust fund hippy' is, and you know its natural habitat is Boulder
-You know you're talking to a fellow Coloradoan when they call it Elitches, not Six Flags.
-A bear on your front porch doesn't bother you.
-Your two favorite teams are the Broncos and whoever is beating the crap out of the Raiders.
-When people out East tell you they have mountains in their state too, you just laugh.
-You go anywhere else on the planet and the air feels 'sticky' and you notice the sky is no longer blue.
Yes, these are true and make me chuckle - I don't know why we all keep going to Casa Bonita, it's not the greatest food, but I think the cliff divers and sappy melodramas make up for it. If you're ever in town... OK, Kidding!
