SSD Sketch Tuesday #48

It's Tuesday and that means it's time for another Skipping Stones Design Sketch Tuesday and this one is the last one I'll be hosting as the sketch maker.  We've been using past Sweet Sunday Sketches all through October and I'm so completely thrilled to have been part of this amazing team, if only for a short while.  This week, we're using SSSC21, which is a perfect sketch to use up some of those scrap pieces of gorgeous designer paper we all have laying around.  This is such a great card to whip up in a flash - the scraps are 1-1/4" square and they're cut from pieces of DeLovely paper from Cosmo Cricket {yum!}.  Since I'm repeating the papers, I placed the stripes going different directions - it kind of creates some visual interest in the background.  The cupcake is from Cupcake Cutie and I stamped the bottom in Certainly Celery and the frosting in Pretty In Pink for the background and Pink Passion for the outline.  I added a few pink rhinestones I picked up from Michael's.  The sentiment is from Grunge and I stamped it in Memento Rich Cocoa - I had to bling it up as well *wink*

Have a wonderful day!
Karen

SSD Sketch Tuesday #47

Good morning!  I hope you all have had a wonderful weekend and start to your week.  I'm back with another fun and fabulous Sketch Tuesday from Skipping Stones Design and this week the team is working with Sweet Sunday Sketch #73.

For my card today I'm using Always Here along with the new set Grunge.  I started by making my own patterned paper by stamping the background stamp from Grunge over the vanilla cardstock circle.  I stamped the sentiment from Always Here right over the top of it and added a paper pieced butterfly.

You can see what the rest of the team has created over at Skipping Stones Design and I do hope you'll join us in this week's Sketch Tuesday!

Have a wonderful day!
Karen

recipe -
stamps: always here, grunge (skipping stones design)
paper: kraft, pumpin pie, choice buttercream cardstock, fly a kite (october afternoon)
ink: soft sky (stampin' up!), dark brown fluid chalk (colorbox)
accessories: aquamarine rhinestones (kaisercraft), lacey circles/circles nestabilities (spellbinders)

SSD #46 | Release Day Blog Hop

Good morning and happy Friday!  Skipping Stones Design is hosting a fun little blog hop to celebrate its new release.

You should have arrived to my blog through Lea, and if you would like to start the tour from the beginning, the fun all starts at Skipping Stones Design.

Today, the team is featuring the new set, Cancer Schmancer - a charity set which Skipping Stones Design will donate $4 from each purchased set to the Komen Foundation.

The week's challenge is to use this sketch and I opted to change mine into a square card since the image I chose to use isn't as tall as the sketch would want it to be.  I used Sahara Sand for the card base and added some Sweet Pea paper {I haven't used that in forever!!} along with some white satin ribbon I picked up at Michaels a while back.  The scallop border is the Scalloped Eyelet Border die from Taylored Expressions and I also used the small oval Nestabilities for my image frame.

You should now hop on over to Kandi's blog for the next piece of crafty eye candy!

Thanks for stopping by -
Karen

SSD Sketch Tuesday #45

Good morning!!  I'm super excited to be part of Skipping Stones Design's Sketch Tuesday for all of October!  This week we're featuring a past Sweet Sunday Sketch as our challenge and I do hope you'll play along.
I love these images from Whispering Wings and the cattails scream Coffee Bean Brown Sprakly Fluff, don't they?  Of course!  The patterned paper is Pixie-Licious (so delicious!) from Cosmo Cricket and I colored in the butterfly and water with Copic markers.

Here is the sketch we're all playing with this week - the old SSSC61, still one of my absolute favorites.  I think it's the hang-off-the-edge flag.  It just makes me smile, what can I say?

Stop on by Skipping Stones Design and check out the rest of the cards and projects from the design team - you are in for a treat!!

Have fun!
Karen

Blog Hop for Haiti

Welcome to Skipping Stones Design’s Blog Hop(e) for Haiti. If you just happened upon my blog today, you’ll want to go back to the beginning at Skipping Stones Design.  You should have come from Dawn Easton's blog.

As a company, we wanted to do something to give back to the people who have been so devastated by the Haitian Earthquake. So we thought what better way than to invite some of our favorite stampers to join us in this cause. Each card you see on the blog hop today will be auctioned on E-bay with all proceeds going to the Red Cross in support of the Haitian Relief Effort (please check the Skipping Stones Design Website for the link to the auction). 100% of the proceeds of the Ebay auction and $2.00 from every stamp set purchased from February 16 - 22 will be donated to the Red Cross. We know that we can make a difference.
When I first saw this set, Funny Bras Vol. 1, I instantly fell in love with it - the humor is so me!  I stamped the image on various papers from Stampin' Up!'s Cottage Wall dsp and paper pieced the image together.  I used white embossing powder for the sentiment and finished the card with some little buttons - and of course, lots and lots of scallops!

My next card is so vibrant and fun - so perfect for a birthday.  The set is Cupcake Cutie and sticking with my paper piecing theme, I used fun paper to make my cupcake.  I added several turquoise rhinestones along the bottom for some sparkly fun, oh la la!!!

Thank you for stopping by and your next blog to hop to is Erin Grotegut.

How about a prize? In addition to the fabulous eye candy, we have decided to hide a prize somewhere along the hop! There will be a few pre-release sets up for grabs hidden along the blog hop.  The fun part is...we're not telling you who it is! So as you hop, make sure you leave comments on every post so you have a chance to win!!

Thanks for following the hop today - enjoy!
Karen
