Today is Beach Day and the Baker's Dozen have so many sweet things to show you!  I'm starting off with a new set designed by Nancy McKinney for the Whimsical Wishes line called A Day In Paradise.  This set of 21 stamps is a mixture of solid and open images as well as fantastic sentiments, all made of deeply etched, cling-mount rubber.  This set is perfect for all those masculine cards as well as special occasions such as retirement or vacation.

I loved getting a chance to make a more masculine card and I started this one by using Jen's Sketch For You To Try.  I stamped the image in Memento Tuxedo Black and colored it with Copic Markers.  The papers are Marjolaine by Basic Grey and I added some frayed twill ribbon to give the card a more rustic feel.

I'm also featuring another sweet Moka girl from the Moka Collection, also illustrated by Nancy McKinney.  Her name is Lani and she is darling!  Lani comes with 4 coordinating sentiments.

Doesn't she just make you want to go live in paradise?  My mother-in-law just put together a photo album of their recent trip to Hawaii and her pictures are just full of rich color and beautiful sunsets and amazing celebration!  I wanted to capture some of that in my card.  I started by using Sweet Stop's SSS107, although I altered it just a bit since my focal image was larger.  Lani is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black and colored with Copics and I really wanted to add lots of beautiful waves behind her.  TE is releasing a Palm Tree Die and the Wave Border Die, which I used in my card above.  I ran the Wave Border Die through my Big Shot twice and then overlapped the waves to create some depth.  I added paper from Splash by Echo Park, which is SO adorable.  The flowers are made from 2 of the Friendship Blooms dies and I used the Small Scallop Border Die to make the scallops down the diagonal center.

Be sure to stop by and comment on the rest of the Baker's Dozen blogs so you can increase your chances on winning a TE gift card!
Thanks for stopping by!

Enjoy a Fabulous Day!

Good morning!  I hope you are enjoying a fabulous day - we're spending time with family and we'll attempt a BBQ later this afternoon if the rain stays away.  I love this little Shopping Bag and Labels die from Taylored expressions and I made my little bag out of Blossom Soup paper from Jilly Bean Soup.  The sketch is Taylor's TESC139 and stamped the little frame in Memento Bamboo Leaves and then the cupcake in Memento Rich Cocoa - it's colored in with Copic Markers for some fun sweetness.  The sentiment is from It's In the Bag.  The colors are really funky in my photo, I'm not sure why.  Maybe it's my camera?  It looks way better in real life - crazy!

Enjoy your day!

I inked up my new Pure Innocence Girl from My Favorite Things called Pucker Up and paired her up with some Splash papers from Echo Park.  I added a daisy using the Daisy Die-Namics die from MFT and wrapped it around a corduroy brad.  I just noticed that I didn't add any shadowing under her table or add grass or anything - oops!  She's just sort of floating there, wheee!!

The Sweet Sunday Stampers have amazing sketch samples to show you today, so stop on by to see:

Sweet Sunday Sketch Winner

Hello and Happy Saturday and for all of you celebrating a glorious 3-day Memorial Day weekend I hope the weather holds out for you.  Our forecast isn't looking so great.  I don't know what is up with the weather here in CO, but usually it's 80 degrees by now.  Not so much this year.  The funny thing is that our neighborhood pool opened last weekend and there are crazy people swimming in it even though it hasn't been over 70 degrees all week.  CRAZY!  hehe!

OK, anyway I'm not really here to make small talk -it's SSSC time!  And this week random.org has chosen...

#31 - Erica Beth Cerwin!

I absolutely LOVE that gorgeous button bow and the scallop square and bling ring - simply gorgeous!  Congrats Erica!  Please stop on by Erica's blog, Pink Buckaroo Designs for more of her beautiful work.

See you back soon for the next challenge!

I'm typing this with only 10 minutes to spare -what a last minute day this has been!  We desperately needed to re-mulch the yard and had been waiting for the spring winds to finally die down.  Well, adding new mulch lead to digging out plants and poor dead rose bushes and I must be sadly out of shape, or getting old because I was wiped out!  Every time I get up from the couch I look like a crippled old woman until the kinks in my back  loosen up.  Seriously, that's sad.  Yard looks great tho!  haha!

I'm using stamps from There She Goes for my card and wanted to get Lighten Up all inky again.  I love this set with all of its interchangable shades and stands and the sentiments are just hysterical!  The images are stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black and colored with Copics and I added a few SU buttons in the corner.

ACK - 2 minutes to go!  Just under the wire!!

The Sweet Sunday Stampers have amazing sketch samples to show you today, so stop on by to see:

Taylored Expressions Blast From the Past Blog Hop

Good morning!  It's time for another blog hop from Taylored Expressions using those sets we all love and need to get all inky again and Sankari gave us another fabulous sketch to work with.  The theme for May is Masculine and my absolute favorite masculine set is Boys Will Be Boys and I chose to ink up the tie image.  I stamped the ties in Memento Tuxedo Black on Choice Snow White cardstock and again on Lime Twist Fly A Kite patterned papers so I could paper piece them.  I cut out the label using the Ribbon Tags Trio 3 Nestabilities die and instead of threading ribbon throught it, I used cardstock and patterned paper and popped it up on Foam Tape

Thanks for stopping by!
Karen

recipe -
stamps: boys will be boys (taylored expressions)
paper: real red (su!), kraft, choice snow white (taylored expressions) cardstock, lime twist - fly a kite (my mind's eye)

I picked up this cute little There She Goes gnome from My Little Friend for this sketch - love all the gnomes and their sassy little sentiments.  I started by stamping him in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and then colored him with Copics.  I sponged around the bottom in Memento Desert Sand and added a little sponged Memento Canteloupe around the top edges.  These cute papers are My Mind's Eye Lime Twist - Fly a Kite and the card size is 3-1/4" x 6-1/2".  I love this size card and I never seem to make them much.  That's a shame really.

Do tulips even exist in this color of blue?  The only tulips that seem to grow in my front yard are yellow, and that doesn't match my paper, hehe!  I'm thinking those yellow tulips aren't going to last much longer either, seeing how the kids want to clip them and put them in a vase for me for Mother's Day.  Awww...  I gave Michael permission to cut them, they are about to take a turn towards the end of bloom, so I'd rather see them in my house.  I really need to plant more bulbs next fall so I have more than yellow tulips in the spring.  Any suggestions?  I need something other than yellow.  please... haha!

I grabbed one of my favorite Verve sets, Miracles Blossom and stamped the stems in Old Olive and the tulips in Not Quite Navy and popped them up.  I used the Leafy Branch Die from Taylored Expressions for the leaves and then snipped some of the branches off and moved them around to fill out the underside of the panel.  The butterfly is a Martha Stewart punch and I just sponged the edges in Not Quite Navy and added a few ice blue rhinestones in the center.

Have a wonderful Mother's Day!  I'm going bowling with Avery and my mom, so I'm really excited to have a 3-generation bowl-a-thon!  haha!

I'm using one of my favorite stamp sets from TSG called Fairy Good Day and I stamped this sweet little fairy in Memento Rich Cocoa and then colored her with Copics.  I may have gotten a little bit crazy with the sewing, and if you are curious, I was not intoxicated while stitching, I just have a natural swerve.  I really do hope that straightens out the more I sew - such a rookie!  The papers are from Lime Twist - Life of the Party by My Mind's Eye and the layout is Sweet Stop's SSS106.

Be sure to keep hoppin' for all sorts of prizes!  Your next stop is the fabulous Tobi Crawford.

Thanks for stopping by!

Taylored Expressions Release Party

Have you been enjoying this week's sneak peeks for the new May release at Taylored Expressions?  Everything is now available in the TE store and to catch everything new, hop on over to see what Fresh Out of the Oven!
The Baker's Dozen is showcasing all of the May stamp sets and Taylored Dies and I've made another card using Welcome Little One - and since I've been making baby boy cards all week, I thought I'd switch it up and make a baby girl card using some fun new Lime Twist - Happy Go Lucky papers from My Mind's Eye.  I started with this week's SC331 sketch from Splitcoaststampers, which really just gave my huge procrastinator personality away since the sketch went live yesterday, haha!  I stamped the little carriage in Memento Tuxedo Black and colored it in with Copic Markers.  I also stamped the bracket frame in Rich Razzleberry and then used the Bracket Frame Die to cut it out and layered it on a Labels 9 Nestabilities.
There is much, much more to see today, so hop on over to see the rest of the Baker's Dozen!

Thanks for stopping by!

Taylored Expressions Sneak Peek | Day 3

Welcome back!  This is day 3 of Taylored Expression May release sneaks and everything will be available tomorrow morning at 8 AM Pacific.  Today the Baker's Dozen is featuring 4 new sets along with a fun new Taylored Die!
  • It's In the Bag - full sized stamp set
  • Moka Olivia - petite set
  • Moka Jenn - petite set
  • Summer Wreath - petite set
  • Shopping Bag & Labels Die Set
First up for me this morning is our new Moka Jenn - a new petite set created and illustrated by Nancy McKinney, which I just have to say is one of my most favorite images yet!  I just had to ink her up the minute I unwrapped her!  She comes with various sentiments, which are just cute as can be and I'm so excited to see where these Moka girls will take us!
I started with Taylor's TESC137 and stamped Jenn in Memento Tuxedo Black ink on Choice Snow White cardstock and again on Stella & Rose Mabel paper so I could paper piece her cute little shirt.  I am totally loving that baby bump!  She's just the cutest!  I'm still learning how to color in hair, so I was so happy that this set came on it's own 3" x 5.5" image panel - in full color - so that I could sort of see how to shade in all that glorious hair!  I ended up coloring her hair red to match the papers and then my youngest asked me if that was Auntie Sarah - who has the most beautiful red hair ever.  My first little red-headed image.  For the scalloped border I used the Small, Medium, and Large Scallop Border dies and then added a few Savannah Buttons in the corner.

I stamped simply on the inside of the card.

Up next is It's In the Bag - another fantastic set illustrated by Nancy for the Whimsical Wishes line and it's packed full of possibilities for every gift-giving occasion and party.

I started off with Julee's MOJO189 sketch and papers from Jillybean Soup - Blossom Soup and that's kind of how I ended up with my pink and green color scheme.  It's In the Bag has a coordinating Shopping Bag & Label die that is SO sweet and fun and I cut the shopping bag out on the patterned paper and added the little label from the die set in olive cardstock and then popped up the Bamboo Leaves umbrella on a 3/4" circle.
I ended up stuffing in some pink tissue paper - yep, I just stuffed it in there, just like I do with big size gift bags, hehe, and I adore how it just comes to life off the card!

Stop on by to see what the rest of the Baker's Dozen have whipped up for you today!
Thanks for stopping by!

Good morning!  I'm back with more peeks of the May release from Taylored Expressions!  Today the Baker's Dozen is feauring 2 new full sized sets - Baby Cakes {featuring our favorite Cuppie} and Bringing Home Baby.

I'm featuing Bringing Home Baby, which is illustrated by the uber talented Nancy McKinney for the Whimsical Wishes line of stamps.  The set has 23 images and sentiments and is designed to mix and match to build the perfect nursery scenes for your cards, announcements, and scrapbook pages.

I started with the MOJO188 for the layout and stamped the crib in Memento Rich Cocoa and colored the matress with Copics. I loved the idea of hanging something above the crib, so I stamped "It's a Boy!" in Memento Tuxedo Black and then cut it out with an oval punch and hung it like a frame with Baker's Twine.  The stars were cut out using my Sihouette machine and I added some fun stitching around the background paper, which I embossed with the Stars Impression Plate.  This was one of the first cards I sewed on, so I didn't even come close to sewing in a straight line.  So how do you fix that?  Just go around again and be extra crazy and hide your mistake - or maybe I'm just a little Type A when it comes to my cards... lol!!  The scalloped border is made from the Scalloped Eyelet Border die.

All of the papers (minus the kraft carstock) are from the Alphabet Soup Project Pantry Kit for boys.  Included in this kit are:

     12 - 8.5"x11" sheets of cardstock (2 sheets each of 6 colors)
     27 - 4" x 6" sheets of double-sided patterned paper (3 sheets each of 9 patterns)
     Want2Scrap Teal Baby Bling
3 yds. of ribbon (1 yard each of 3 different styles)
15 Mini Safety Pins (5 each of 3 colors)
Die cut embellishments to match patterned papers

TE is also offering a kit for girls as well and each kit will retail for just $9.95!! A super value!
