Taylored Expressions Big Birthday Bash!

Yep - it's been almost a whole year since TE debuted the first 3 stamp sets. On Saturday, September 5th Taylored Expressions will be celebrating Cuppie's 1st Birthday with the Taylored Expressions Birthday Bash and it wouldn't be a party without you! We have an exciting day planned, so I hope you can join us!

At 8 AM PST we'll release four new stamp sets along with two new Key Ingredients Kits. Minutes after that, we'll begin a day of TEBB Challenges to be posted every hour throughout the day, hosted by our Baker's Dozen Design Team.

***Prizes, prizes and more prizes - one lucky winner will be selected for each challenge to receive a $10 Gift Certificate from Taylored Expressions as well as the sample created by your Challenge Hostess.

Recently, I got some Gina K stamps and I haven't had a chance to play with them until today - I am loving this birthday cake! It's just fun and whimsical and too cute not to color with bright colors. I think the most difficult part of this card was tying that stinkin' bow! I think I fiddled with that thing for 20 minutes until I could get it to tie on an angle like that. Whew! Glad I kept with it - I think it turned out pretty cute.

Hiya! OK, I'm a horrible blogger this week and have been ignoring my craft desk - I guess my brain is telling me it's a good thing to take a long break once in a while and focus on my family. We've had the best week together - lots of time at local parks, a mommy-daughter date at the movies and games with my son while the baby sleeps (well, she's almost 2, so maybe I should stop calling her a baby. I'm in denial!), I've started running again at the gym - only 2+ months until my 5K, yikes! All in all, it was magnificent. I hope you all don't mind the quiet and I'll be blogging regularly again soon, when my mojo returns in time for next week's SSSC.

Look what I found today! Some DSP I never used (at all!) and I don't even know the name of it - it is really, really old. Maybe from 3 years ago? Yep, this is a HUGE sign I have way too much paper just sitting in storage. It was like Christmas rummaging through my old stash of paper, that was fun! My daughter will turn 2 in a couple weeks and I thought this might make a cute invitation. She's my pink diva, and yet she was playing dinosaurs with her big brother today. I love it when the kids are sweet to eachother.

more mojo

I've been wanting to do these Mojo Monday sketches for the week and I'm on day 3 - not too shabby! Now I'm 2 days behind with the sketches, but that's better than most weeks. I always have all my favorite sketch challenges up on my browser, just waiting for me to use them, and then the week gets away from me and I give up, lol! I need about 3 more days in my week!

This card is for Teresa's sketch, which is from Wednesday's Mojo blog post. The good thing is my order of new Verve came in Wednesday afternoon, so now I can use some for the rest of the Mojo challenges - sweet! Today I'm using the set Delightful & Delicious along with Enjoy - love mixing and matching sets. I just kept this card simple and let the beautiful Bella Bleu paper and delicious stamps do the talking. I colored some coffee in the cup with a Copic marker and I used some of my new favorite Not Quite Navy ribbon from the Elementary ribbon originals and boy does that ribbon really dress up a card! Yum-O!

Alright - off to make more cards (I'm so addicted to paper, it's rediculous!)

I'm back with the 2nd sketch for Mojo Monday's 100th celebration and I'm only a day behind - I think this might be a record! I loved working with the sketch today - it really shows off the paper and embellishments and that makes for an easy card to make.

This is the first time I'm using Pink Flamingo paper and since my sentiment is all about blossoms, I used lots and lots of blossomed paper and then added my 'go to' playground/latte designer buttons.

Hello! Can you believe this week is the 100th Mojo Monday sketch? Wow! The Mojo Monday blog is ready to go this week with a sketch everyday - how fun is that? I hope to play along with all of them, but we'll see how life catches up with me.

I went rummaging through all of my designer paper and found this sheet of Spring Flowers (old!) and the thought of Neopolitan ice cream went through my head - what goes with ice cream? Cake! I've only used this Cupcake Collection set once and thought I should give it some love. I added some Cotton Candy Stickles on the icing to make it even sweeter.

Don't panic - I know this sketch is a little more involved with all the layering, but that is the joy of a challenge right? You don't need to matte each layer like I did if you don't want to either - just do what you are comfortable with.

This sketch is inspired by Michele Boyer's lovely Soft Tissues card in the March 2009 issue of Cards. I instantly fell in love with her card and just had to use the layout. It's on page 123 if you would like to find it.

I've been missing my Trendy Trees and I jumped right into my Trendy Trees/Maine Blueberry combo - it's too lovely not to use! I'm down to scraps of Maine Blueberry and it makes me SO sad! I love this paper. The colors are one of my favorite combinations ever. Sigh...

it's good to be dirty!

Pinch me - PLEASE pinch me! This is just too good to be true! I'm officially a Dirty Girl - part of the Dirty Dozen, aka the Splitcoaststampers design team!! I cannot believe I am a member of this amazing team of stampers, it is unreal! When Jenn Balcer emailed me asking me to give her a call, I was really curious and wondering: is this spam? Am I in trouble? Did I post something that was illegal and she was going to kick me out? Hahaha! NO! When I talked to her and she asked me to join the Dirty Dozen, I was floored! Me? Little ol' me? It didn't take long to answer YES! Of course I'll be a part of this fantastic group! That phone call made my summer. Thank you Jenn!

This week's sketch is inspired from a card by Roree Rumph, featured in the March issue of Cards. You can put whatever you would like on the main image panel - stamp it, embellish it, use die cuts, or patterned paper - stay within the boundaries or let your project overflow.

For my card today I used Branching Out, and this tree has been begging me to come out of the box and play. I stamped the tree top twice - once on Old Olive card stock and again on some The Write Stuff specialty paper. I cut the leaves out of the Old Olive image and attached them to the patterned paper - gives it a fun little look. I added some green dew drops at the bottom to balance out the green in the card.

birthday wishes

Happy Saturday! I'm so happy it's the weekend, aren't you? Today I thought I'd make a fun little birthday card using a technique called paper-piecing. I'm using Taylor's Cupcake Challenge for this week, TECC77, and the sets Beary Special and Beary Special Accessories.

I love the look of a paper-pieced image - the patterns and textures can't be replicated with markers or watercolor. It's such a fun little technique. I stamped the bear in Memento Rich Cocoa ink on a piece of Tall Tales Designer Series Paper and cut it out. I stamped it again on a piece of Banbury DSP and cut out the insides of the ears and feet (I also used the little patch stamp on this paper). Now how many times have you cut out something to paper-piece and it's been way too small or irregular to easily add adhesive? Taping these little pieces has become so much easier with a handy little gadget called the Xyron Create-a-sticker. This little piece of happiness will add adhesive to the back of all those little pieces of paper will drive me absolutely bonkers. It's perfect for all those small letter die cuts, or really odd shaped images that are too skinny to add tape to. Seriously, it's one of the tools I use most - love it! To add a little something extra to the card I used some linen thread around the balloons.

Taylored Expressions Release Party!

Today is THE day! You can now find Berries & Cherries and Chillax in the Taylored Expressions store! I'm going to give you another look-see at Chillax because there is an amazing bundle that coordinates with this set. I started by stamping the blender and lemon images in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored them in with Copic Markers - which Taylored Expressions is now selling! GASP!! I cut out the blender with my Circle Nestabilities die template and then the background with the Labels 3 Nestabilities - love that look! I used Razzleberry Lemonade paper {seems so appropriate, right?} and finished by tying some Crushed Curry Polka-Dot grosgrain ribbon around the bottom. The sketch is MOJO98.

For the Window Treat Bag, I used the same Razzleberry Lemonade paper and cut it to size and used a hobby blade to cut out the center window. I ran the Melon Mambo texured cardstock through my Cuttlebug with the Square Scallop and Square Nestabilities to dress up the window just a bit. I filled a little zipper bag with lemonade mix and stapled it to the top of the treat box and then tied the ribbon around the top to hide the staple. I also used the scallop edge punch along the top flap of the box. To coordinate it with the card, I added the same little lemon image to the bottom. Cute!

Taylored Expressions Sneak Peek - Day 2

Good morning and welcome to another Taylored Expressions sneak peek! Did you all get hungry while perusing the Baker's Dozen blogs yesterday? I sure did! Today you might want to pour yourself a tall glass of ice cold lemonade and kick back & Chillax, yep - this is today's peek. A new set in the Whimsical Wishes line which will be available for purchase tomorrow - woohoo! There are so many darling images in this set, for both the men and women in your life, and I chose to use this sweet little umbrella drink for my card. I stamped the image in Memento Tuxedo Black and colored it in with Copic Markers. The sketch is from Mercy Kerin, MTSC32, which is just way too much fun not to use. A new sketch blog - sweet! I finished the card with some So Saffron ribbon and Playground Designer Buttons and there you go - a nice Chillaxing card.

Taylored Expressions Sneak Peek - Day 1

It is finally time for another sneak peek for Taylored Expressions! I love it! I missed making fun little treats for you in July. Have you been anxiously waiting for new goodies from TE? Today, the Baker's Dozen is giving you a little peek at Berries & Cherries, quite possibly the most delicious set you will ever stamp with - How can you go wrong with cherries, and berries, and oh, let's see, CHOCOLATE! I'm not giving you a taste of the chocolate today - you must come back for that later, bwahahahaha! More exciting news for you - the Berries & Cherries set also comes with a coordinating Key Ingredients kit, which includes some of this delicious strawberry paper from Doodlebug {yes, even this amazingly cute glittery paper too!}, 4 strawberry brads, 5 yards of coordinating ribbon, a bottle of Ruby Red Liquid Pearls, Choice White and Prism card stock {Rose Medium, Intense Kiwi, Razzleberry Light, Suede Brown Dark, Baby Blue Medium}.



Now for the details: I stamped the cherries in Memento Tuxedo Black ink on Choice White card stock and colored them in with Copic Markers (I'm getting better with all this practice, yea!) and then cut them out and popped them up on dimensionals. TIP: I cut out the stem center with a hobby blade before I cut the rest of the cherries out. The layout of the card comes from Taylor's Cupcake Challenge, TECC76 and I dressed the card up a bit by using some glitter paper and fun polka-dot organdy ribbon. To balance the card out a bit, I added a strawberry brad to the ribbon. The scallops were cut out from my Nestabilities along with their coordinating shape - I don't think I can make a card without using my Nesties!

Maybe the proportions are off? It's the butterfly... I don't know, but something is really bugging me about it. Maybe it's the paper - the paper is WAY out of my comfort zone, haha! I have been wanting to use my new Blossom Nestabilities for a very long time and last week's Mojo sketch fits perfectly! More Cottage Wall paper was calling me, so I had to use that along with some scrumptious polka-dot ribbon. I stamped the stems from Verve's Miracles Blossom in Old Olive ink and the matching tulips in Rich Razzleberry. When I finished I realized there isn't a nice place for a sentiment, so I think I'll add this one to the grab and go catagory for any occasion. Can't have too many of those now, can you?
