Nice Day for a White Wedding

Well, now that Billy Idol is running through my head, a workmate is getting married on January 4.  I've blogged about her before here.  To cut a long story short, Anthea lost the use of her legs in a horse-riding accident about 7 years ago.  Last year, she represented New Zealand at the Paralympics as an equestrian.  She really is amazing and won't let her disability stop her from doing pretty much anything.  Here's a card I made to send her. I'm also entering this card into the Less is More challenge which is to choose a past challenge.  I chose Week 87  Love & Marriage.

This card is heavily influenced by the beautiful card made by Sandy Mathis for a recent Paper Players challenge.  I stamped the wedding dress from Love & Laughter in Versamark and white-embossed it before cutting it out.  I also white-embossed the sentiment from Border Banter.  The heart was stamped in Strawberry Slush then punched out using the owl punch.

The lattice die and window frame framelit look is not new as I've seen it around before and I really like the look.

This is a really simple but elegant card and I hope Anthea and Aaron like it.

Thanks for looking.

Products used:

Stamps:  Love & Laughter, Border Banter
Ink:  Versamark, Strawberry Slush
Cardstock:  Whisper White
Accessories:  Lattice Die, Window Frames Framelit, Basic Pearls, Owl Punch

CCMC 232 - Pool White Silver

This week's challenge at Create with Connie & Mary is a color challenge - and what refreshing colors they are:  Pool Party; Whisper White and Silver Glimmer.

I wanted to get as far away from Christmas cards as I could so decided to go for a clean and fresh gift card holder that would be suitable for a birthday or wedding.

I used an old gift card holder as my template, so I don't have a link for you, but there are plenty of them around in blogland if you are interested.

I stamped the vine stamp from Creative Elements onto the front using Pool Party ink.  A little heart punched out of silver glimmer paper finishes the base.  The belly band is also very simple - Whisper White with a layer of Pool Party DSP.  The greeting is from the Apothecary Accents framelits and I paper pierced an oval around the sentiment.  A couple of rhinestones finishes it off.

Thanks for looking.  Head on over to Create with Connie & Mary to see what the rest of the challenge team has come up with and give these colors a go.

Products used (all Stampin' Up!):

Stamps:  Creative Elements; Made for You
Cardstock:  Pool Party; Whisper White; Silver Glimmer Paper; 2011-13 In Color DSP
Ink:  Pool Party
Accessories:  Word Window Punch; 1 1/4" circle punch; small heart punch; Basic Rhinestones

CCMC228 Sparkly Butterflies

This week's challenge at Create with Connie & Mary is a color challenge and what cool colors!  Baja Breeze, Wisteria Wonder and Silver Glimmer Paper.

I'm not normally a fan of Wisteria Wonder, but it goes wonderfully with Baja Breeze and the sparkly Silver Glimmer paper.

I saw a photo of gifts given to some European demos at their recent convention and one of the gifts had these gorgeous little butterflies using the new Elegant Butterfly punch and silver glimmer paper.  So I just had to case the idea for my very CAS card.

The silver glimmer butterfly is stuck onto the card base while the Wisteria Wonder and Baja Breeze butterflies and just stuck in the center with their wings pulled away from the sparkly layer.  Here's a close-up of the butterflies.

Head on over to Create with Connie & Mary and give this color challenge a go.  You can see the variety of cards created by the design team using this color scheme.

Thanks for looking.

Products used (all Stampin' Up!):

Wedding Card - and not a wedding in sight...

Here is my card for the current Stampin' Queens sketch challenge.

I wanted to use the Big Shot Timeless Type Alphabet for my main focal point.  The only thing I could think of was Mr & Mrs so it became a wedding card.  Who knows when I'll get to use it, but I liked how it came out.

Here is the sketch I worked from:

This card is pretty self-explanatory.  The only thing I did which might not be obvious was sponge some white bakers twine to try and match my color scheme of Very Vanilla and Basic Black.  I sponged with Crumb Cake ink.

Products used (all Stampin' Up!):

Cardstock:  Basic Black; Very Vanilla; Mocha Morning DSP
Ink:  Crumb Cake
Accessories:  Timeless Type Big Shot Alpha; Neutrals Buttons; Bakers Twine; Sponge
