Mimosa Musings

Hi and welcome!  I had a bit of spare time yesterday so decided to play with a couple of challenges.  The sketch at Just Add Ink and the colours from Color Hues combined to make this card.

I stamped the Mimosa Musings images onto white cardstock and die-cut them.  I also stamped the main sentiment onto a white panel before running it through the Brickwork 3D embossing folder.  I chose 3 green cardstock colours and cut strips which I adhered onto the embossed panel and trimmed the sides.

I added the flowers and adhered the whole lot to a white card base.  On the inside, I stamped the remainder of the sentiment (which says "about you today") and added some more of the flowers (forgot to take a photo of the inside!)

Thanks so much for visiting.

Gilded Leaves

Hi and welcome!  Today's card was made especially for a few challenges and is the first card I've made that wasn't for a DT commitment for quite some weeks!

I was inspired by the sketch at Just Add Ink, the photo at Inspired By, the colours from Color Hues and the Elegant theme at Time Out Challenges.  (As an aside green and gold were my high school colours so not my favourite combination 😄)

I started with a white card base and then added the white embossed square die-cuts as well as the strip of white which was dry embossed with the Subtle embossing folder.

For the leaves, I die-cut them from two different shades of green and then added Gilded Foundry Wax to the ends before heat-setting.  I arranged those on the card base and then added a stacked black hot-foiled sentiment.

It was at this point I thought it looked a bit stark, so added two thin slivers of gold foil on either side of the vertical panel.  Finally, I finished with some green enamel dots and a heart.

Thanks for visiting!

Products used:

Cardstock:  White, Gold Foil, Prickly Pear, Jellybean Green (MFT)
Dies:  Leaf Mix (Altenew), Wonderful Sentiments (Pink Fresh), Embossed Squares (Kat Scrappiness)
Accessories:  Black hot foil, Subtle Embossing Folder (SU), Gilded Foundry Wax (Tim Holtz), Enamel Dots (Altenew and WPlus9)

Special Day Sunflowers

Hi!  I'm back with another card.  It's rare that I get a chance to make cards just for the fun of it, but this morning I took a bit of time to make this card using the inspiration at Just Add Ink and the Tic-Tac-Toe challenge where I chose Orange/Rust-Free-Layers.  I'm also linking up The Four Seasons Fall Challenge.

I had just received this washi tape and die so wanted to try it out.

This is the Fall version of the tape - there is also a summer version which is just as pretty but more yellow.  I started my card with a white card base and layered on a gold matte foil panel over that.  The Dark Indigo panel was embossed with the Engraved EF and before adhering it, I went around the edges with Chipped Sapphire Distress Ink to add a bit of interest.  From there I used the current sketch at Freshly Made Sketches with the two angled panels to provide some layers.  Both panels are matted onto the same gold matte foil but the top layer has also been embossed.

I arranged the die-cut washi tape around the angled panels and adhered it to the card base.  The finishing touch was a hot-foiled sentiment which is adhered with foam tape.

Here's another photo so you can see the shine.

This is way more layered than I usually make, but I quite like it!  Thanks so much for visiting!

Tool Time

Hi!  Today's card uses Jen Brum's sketch from the latest Freshly Made Sketches challenge.  Last weekend was Father's Day here in New Zealand and a few days beforehand I realised I didn't have any cards made.  So I sat down on Saturday and made a card for my dad and one for my husband.

Both cards are exactly the same apart from the tools.  My husband is a mechanic so I went with more car-related tools and my dad is more of a handyman, hence the saw and hammer.  I die-cut the pieces from various cardstock, adding a touch of Copic shading where I could and assembled each of the tools.

The background is made using some really old cork paper I had here from the early 2000's.  I adhered the die-cut panel to a white card base and then added two tag dies and the tools.  I finished with a simple sentiment.

Thanks for visiting.  I hope you'll head over and check out the fabulous cards made by the design team.

I am linking this up to the Masculine theme challenge at Just Add Ink.

Sweet Friend

Hi!  I'm here with a card I made today for a few challenges - one of which closes in a few hours - so I won't dally!

I played along with Just Add Ink's Just Add Two (Coffee and Friends), as well as Tic Tac Toe where I went with Drink/Bright Colours/Circle and finally Cupcake Inspirations have a colour challenge with Purple, Lavender and Pink.

I stamped and coloured the girl with her coffee and her faithful friend and coloured them with Copics before using my Scan n Cut to cut them out.  Onto a white card base, I ink-blended Distress Oxide inks through a circle stencil, going for a gradient look.

I added the girl and dog with foam tape, colouring a bit of "shading" at their feet to ground them and then stamped the sentiment and added some enamel dots and a heart.

Thanks for visiting!

Ink:  Amalgam (Gina K), Versafine Onyx Black, Spun Sugar, Kitsch Flamingo, Wilted Violet Distress Oxide

Textured Birthday

Hi!  It's Sunday afternoon here in New Zealand and I had some time today to just play in my craft room, so I made this card for three challenges:  Tic Tac Toe (Die-cut/Flowers/Stenciling); the sketch at Just Add Ink and the Anything Goes challenge at Seize the Birthday.

It was so hard getting a photo of the texture in this card without the glare from the hot foiling so apologies for the photos!  I started my card by stenciling through the English Brick Wall stencil with embossing paste and setting it aside to dry.  I then die-cut the shiplap out of white cardstock, also running it through with an embossing mat to increase the texture.

I then went hunting through my stamp sets for some flowers that were already stamped because I couldn't be bothered starting from scratch.  I found these partial wreath images that had been stamped in Altenew inks and die-cut and figured they would work.

The sentiment was hot-foiled with gold foil and die-cut with a sentiment strip die.  Everything is popped up on foam tape on the card base.  Apologies to the ladies at Just Add Ink that my vertical strips don't overlap but they were too narrow and it didn't look right, so I added a bit of space between them.  Hope this is okay.

Thanks so much for visiting.

Products used:

Stamps:  Charming Floral Wreath (Pink Fresh Studio)
Ink:  Various Altenew inks
Cardstock:  White
Dies:  Charming Floral Wreath (Pink Fresh Studio), Shiplap Builder (The Greetery), Essential Glimmer Sentiments (Spellbinders)
Accessories:  Gold Hot Foil, English Brick Wall Stencil (MFT), Embossing Paste

Organic Thanks

I'm just popping in with a card made for a few challenges.  We are in the middle of what is hopefully only a 7-day lockdown here in New Zealand and that means I get a bit more time to stamp.  I made this card for the challenges at Tic-Tac-Toe (Alpha Dies/Red/Apple), the sketch at Just Add Ink and the colours from Color Throwdown.

I stamped and coloured up this crate of apples by Power Poppy then fussy-cut it out.  I took a white card base and embossed it with the Subtle embossing folder before adding a strip of woodgrain patterned paper and a thinner strip of yellow polka dot paper.

The sentiment was die-cut three times and stacked together (a fiddly job, trust me!)  I then used added it to the card base.  I finished by adding foam tape behind the apples before adhering to the card base.  Originally I stamped the image in London Fog ink for more of a no-line look but after colouring it, I ended up over-stamping with Versafine Onyx Black because I guess I'm one of those people who likes black outlines.  Luckily I hadn't removed the stamp from my Misti so it all lined up perfectly.

Thanks for visiting!

Products used:

Stamps:  Farmers Market (Power Poppy)

Cardstock:  White, X-Press It, Enchanted Evening (PTI), Wood & Notebook Basics (Snap), Itsy Bitsy Polka Dots (MFT)

Shades

Hi!  I'm here with a card made for a few challenges.  It's been months since I made a card for something other than DT work and it felt good.  I've had the week off work and today spent some time with a friend teaching her how to make a card.  After she left, I made this card using some new goodies which just arrived.

The challenges I'm entering are the colour challenge at The Paper Players, the Just Add Two challenge at Just Add Ink, Addicted to CAS (Beach) and the Tic Tac Toe challenge (Any Colour, Free, CAS).

I just received this stamp set with the sunglasses and as these are the shape of shades that my daughter wears, I thought they'd make a great card for her.  In order to get the challenge colours in,  I chose the beach scene image and stamped it inside the specs before colouring with Copics.  I hope it's okay with The Paper Players crew that I used some light browns for sand?  Once coloured, I added some white gel pen to mimic the waves and foam on the beach.  I finished off the scene by colouring the water with clear sparkle pen.

Just Add Ink are looking for two of Stitching, Stripes and/or Paper Strips.  I used all three as the patterned paper strips are die-cut with a stitched die.

The card base was embossed with the Subtle Embossing Folder (I can't seem to stop using that thing - mine actually broke in two and is now held together with purple tape!)

Thanks for visiting!  It felt good to stamp just for the fun of it instead of for DT cards.

Rosy Birthday

Hi and welcome!  It's time for another challenge from the team at Freshly Made Sketches and this week our hostess is Jacquie Southas.  Check out her fun sketch:

I wanted to do some emboss resist so pulled out one of my favourite background stamps and some bright and cheery colors and came up with this:

It was very simple to do - white heat emboss the stamp, cover with various distress inks and die-cut with a stitched, rounded-corner die.  The sentiment was cut apart so I could stamp "Happy" twice and then die-cut with a small banner die.  To add some extra black, I squirted on some Nuvo drops in black and called it done!

Thanks for visiting!  The DT have created some gorgeous cards so I hope you'll check them out.  I'm going to link this up to Just Add Ink's Emboss Resist challenge, as well as Seize the Birthday's Anything Goes Challenge and Addicted to Stamps and More's 7th birthday celebration challenge (playing along with the Birthday Card part of the challenge).
