Striped Blossom

Hi all and welcome to a new board over at Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge.  I've chosen the bottom row Flowers-Dots/Stripes-Green for this in-your-face card!

I have been forcing myself to branch out colour-wise with my cards and the use of the Colour Cubes is really helping me because there is no way on earth I would have chosen to work with this palette myself!  I really, really don't like the fuschia/orchid colour so to use it was a real challenge.  This isn't my favourite card but it's not horrible so I can live with that.

Thanks for visiting.  I hope you'll head over to the challenge and have a go yourself!

Snowy Village

Hi all and welcome!  I'm the sketch hostess over at Freshly Made Sketches this week and I hope my sketch will provide a starting point for some amazing cards!

For my card, I wanted to play with an ink-blended and Perfect Pearls background as well as some new silhouette dies I'd just received.

The background was created with Tumbled Glass, Peacock Feathers, Chipped Sapphire and Black Soot Distress Inks and then I brushed on some Blue Patina Perfect Pearls powder before splattering it with white gouache.  After I'd die-cut the black elements, I also splattered on some white gouache.  The snowy hills was die-cut from white cardstock and I stamped one of my favourite Christmas sentiment stamps from Papertrey Ink.

I adhered some of the silhouette elements to the front and back of the snowy hills and some directly to the ink-blended background panel, then I used foam tape to pop up the hills.

Thanks so much for visiting.  Please check out the wonderful cards made by the design team.

I'm linking this up to the Christmas creations challenge at Sweet Stampin' and the Winter/Holiday challenge at Time Out.

Silver Snowflakes

Welcome to my blog!  Today's card uses the latest sketch from the team at Freshly Made Sketches, where our hostess this week is Cecile Ribon.  I love Cecile's sketch and used it to create another Christmas card.

I white-embossed the snowflakes from the Blizzard stamp set onto a white panel as a background then silver-embossed some of them onto Dark Indigo cardstock and used the co-ordinating dies to cut them out.  For the circle element, I decided to use a circle frame die and cut it from matte silver foil.  I then arranged the snowflakes and a stamped and die-cut sentiment before adhering it all down to the white panel with foam tape.

I finished with some matte silver pearls and called it done!

Thanks so much for visiting.  Please check out the fabulous cards made by the rest of the design team.

Teal Shadow

Hi and welcome to a new challenge from the team at Freshly Made Sketches where our hostess this week is Kim Singdahlsen

This would be one of my quicker cards as it is pretty much all washi tape. The horizontal strip is 4 separate tapes adhered to a white strip and the flower is from the Teal Shadow washi tape and dies.

I did some gold foiling and stamped a simple sentiment and finished with a diagonal flow of enamel dots.

Coffee Time

It's time for another challenge from the Fusion team and I took inspiration from both the sketch and photo this time to create a chalkboard-themed card.

The sentiments and images for the background came from multiple stamp sets and after I laid them out in my Misti, I white-embossed them onto black cardstock.  I rubbed on a bit of white pigment ink to give the impression of a chalkbaord and then went to work on the rest of the card.

The cup was already coloured and tucked into my stamp pocket, so that made the job quicker!  I stamped the sentiment with black ink onto a white strip and tucked a piece of vellum behind in line with the sketch.

Thanks for visiting.  I hope you'll check out the rest of the DT cards and play along with us.

I'm playing along with the coffee/tea theme at Cupcake Inspirations Challenge

Coppery Hello

Welcome to another year of Fusion challenges.  We've got an updated challenge graphic and a new team member, so I hope you'll head on over and check out who we are fortunate enough to add to our team.

I created a fusion this time, by flipping the sketch on its side and playing with the colors in the photo.

Onto a white die-cut panel, I stenciled over a mandala stencil with Smoked Hickory ink - concentrating heavier color on the left and fading out towards the right.  I then flicked on some bronze mica spray and some black distress paint and set it aside to dry.

The leaves were die-cut from copper cardstock and added, along with the sentiment, when the panel was dry.  I used some craft foam to pop it up on the white card base.

Thanks for visiting.  The DT have some wonderful cards for our first challenge of the year so I hope you'll check them out.

Leafy Hello

Hi and welcome to sketch 401 from the team at Freshly Made Sketches.  After our celebration month, we are back to having a team-member create the sketch and be the week's hostess and this week that person is Cecile Ribon.  Check out her fun sketch:

I went pretty literal with the sketch to come up with this card.

I embossed the leaf canopy stamps with gray embossing powder and then die-cut with the co-ordinating die.    Onto a square panel of Grout Gray cardstock I die-cut the stitched dot circle dies, offsetting the smaller one a tad.  I adhered that panel to a white top-folding square card and then arranged the leaf sprigs on foam tape.  The sentiment was white-embossed and then die-cut with a Mod Square Stax die before also being added with foam tape.

I had originally intended this card to be another thank you card but couldn't find a sentiment to fit, so ended up with a neutral hello card.  To brighten it up a bit, I added some peach sequins.

Thanks for visiting.  Please check out the wonderful cards from the rest of the design team.

Floral Silhouette

Hi and welcome!  Today's sketch from the team at Freshly Made Sketches is brought to us by Cecile Ribon and she's given us a wonderful and unique sketch.
I stayed pretty true to the sketch and came up with this card.

The flags were die-cut from cardstock to give an ombre look and I used tape to tape all three together before stamping the sentiment over the top.  The flowers were white embossed onto black and then die-cut with the matching dies.  I arranged three of the sprigs and adhered them together before adding them to the card base.

And that's it!  Thanks for visiting and I hope you'll head over to the challenge blog and check out the gorgeous cards made by the design team.

Good Idea

Hi all!  Just a quick post today as it's late at night, my time, and I've just realised I haven't written my post for the latest challenge at Freshly Made Sketches.  Doh!  Our sketch hostess is the very talented Jen Mitchell and she has a fun square sketch for us this week.

For my card, I went very simple and let my stencils do the work.

I masked off an area on a square Grout Gray card base and stenciled over this gorgeous Penelope Dee stencil with white embossing paste.  After I removed the stencil and masking tape I sprinked on some glitter and set it aside to dry.

The coffee cup was stamped and colored quickly with Copics and cut with my Scan n Cut.  I added the face from another stamp set.  I stamped the sentiment onto a strip of Grout Gray and added a strip of black underneath to help it stand out from the card base.

And that was it!

I hope you'll head over to the challenge blog and check out the gorgeous cards from the rest of the DT.

Thanks for visiting.

Snowmen Trio

Hi and welcome!  I'm here with a card for the latest Freshly Made Sketches challenge and this week, I'm your hostess.

This is the third iteration of this card!  The snowmen were on all three cards and were re-housed three times until I decided this would be their home 😄 I ink-blended a night sky onto a piece of white cardstock using Distress Inks and then die-cut with both the Inside/Out Stitched Circle die and the Galactic Background die.  I used the dies from Scenic Snow Globe to create my background scene, adding some Snow Marker for snowy dimension.

The snowmen come from last year's Stamptember Gina K set and the sentiment comes from this year's Stamptember Gina K set.  To try and disguise that I stamped the sentiment a bit too far left, I added some irridescent snowflake sequins.

And, in the interests of full disclosure, the smallest snowman is sitting up a little bit too high but I had to position him like that as I damaged the snowman beside him moving him around so many times!

Thanks for visiting!  The DT have created some gorgeous cards from my sketch so I hope you'll check them out.

I'm going to link this up to the Holiday challenge at Addicted to Stamps.

Thankful Leaves

Hi all and thanks for dropping by!  I'm here with a card for the latest sketch at Freshly Made Sketches, where our hostess is our other camp mum, Jen Mitchell.  And check out Jen's fabulous sketch:

I love square cards but don't often think to make them, so this was a perfect opportunity!  I also filmed the making of this card (link below), which is the first video I've made in weeks.  Between a lack of mojo and being sick, it's only now that I'm starting to feel normal again.

My card uses a new-to-me stamp set by Gina K called Stitched Leaves.  Onto a distress inked background, I added the leaves, which were sponged with distress ink before gold-embossing the top layer.  The "thanks" is stacked three high and colored with clear sparkle pen.  The rest of the sentiment is from the same stamp set and embossed with the same Antique Gold embossing powder.

Here are a couple of photos where you can hopefully see the beautiful stitching detail in the stamps.

Thanks for visiting!  The DT have, as always, made some gorgeous cards using the sketch so I hope you'll check them out.
