Vegetable growing in suburbia

“It is said that the effect of eating too much lettuce is 'soporific'.”  ―  Beatrix Potter ,  The Tale of the Flopsy Bunnies I thought I would give you an garden update now that spring is in full swing. Dear hubby and I have starting our preparations for the summer vegetable growing and one project is well underway - another raised garden bed  (see below). It is now in position and ready for soil. This one is 1.2 metres x 1.2 metres, plenty of room for tomatoes, zucchini and cucumber.  In the late winter (after the frosts) I plan to grow potatoes - something I haven't done before but it looks easy!!  I don't have a garden big enough to have a large vegetable patch but I do have smaller spaces that can be used for vegetables. My cousin has been surrounded by her family and I am sure that has given her much strength and joy.  Once again we all need to trust in the Lord for his guidances and strength.  *** Lord, I would place my hand in Thine,

Winter won't be around very much longer, even birds seem to have a louder song to sing. The first jonquil in the garden First buds on the Maple Tree Pink Cockatoos - these birds mate for life and are very affectionate to each other. I thought I would share this story with you: I went out this morning to the fruit and veg markets to buy a half of duck (to make red duck curry) and to pick up some cat food for Ruby. While I was buying the cat food, an older lady came up to me and asked me what sort of cat I had. A cat lover can't help but talk about their cat to someone else, so I was more than happy to chat about Ruby!! I said that I had a Ragdoll cat and the lady said to me ...
