Witch’s Hat

stitching is complete!

Witch's Hat - Finish 10-8-09

Now for a date with the iron and add the buttons.  The ghosts and moon in the hat glow in the dark while I blended the called for DMC with glow in the dark thread on the ghosts on either side.

The kittens were being very funny yesterday.  Guess my stay home during the day wiped them out

Oct 5th

H1N1 shots are coming to Portland, ok the nose spray but Im somewhat happy either way.  I giggled a bit when the news said its only for people ages 6 - 49.  Damn thats one large group!  Im one of the high needs people thx to asthma (not fun).  Making the boys get it as well.  Now the think is do we get it now or wait for batch #2?  Dont they make adjustments?  And isnt there a wait between H1N1 and being able to get the flu shot? Of which we are all getting this year.  All this thinking about shots is making my arms hurt.

Speaking of hurt, Friday I kicked it up a notch on my last round of bicep reps (only 5 lbs!) and apparently I use just enough of back muscles that I pulled one.  Who would have thunk!  And of course in the act of stretching (normal getting up type stretching, not workout) I made it worse!  Tonight’s workout seemed to have helped bunches – chest, abs and back.  So I took it nice and slow with low weights.  Nice good stretching.

Movie news

Highlander – there should be only one.  But Hollywood wants to make a new one.  Just not sure if I can see anyone other than Christopher Lambert as MacLeod.  I got hooked on this thanks to a good friend way back in high school.  I own the DVD and have it on my ipod for easy listening at work.  Just dont know what to think about this being remade.  Look what happened with the “sequels”!

Stitchy stuff!

As promised an updated pic of Witch’s Hat

Witch's Hat 10-5-09

I dont have pics of the mewbies.  They are running around and getting into everything!  Last night was – interesting.  Once they finally settled down Girl loved to be under the covers and would attack feet.  Boy just wanted to cuddle by my head.  They did find a way to the back of the fridge.  At least they are too big to fit underneath. ewww.

Questions, questions, questions

Oh the endless questions of a 3 year old!  I had so forgotten those moments, and the repeating of what they were watching!

We had traded yard work for computer stuff and an AC, one of the guys brought his little girl with him (dont ask why – my mind is still boggling that one).  She spent most of the time inside playing with DL’s toys (oh the pain and agony of that!).  It was fun spending time with a well behaved 3 year old.  No screaming or calling for Daddy or telling me I wasnt a parent to tell her no.

I brought out Witch’s Hat to stitch while they watched movies (some of them scared her like Wall-e so I tried to make them funny than scary).  Oh the questions she had on my stitching.  And when was I changing colors, suggesting which color I should use next and if I was done with the color I was using (are you done now?  can you stitch blue now?  Orange now?). Loved her comment of “oh you’re coloring pictures with string!”

THEN I popped corn on the stove!  That was 10 min of giggling and laughing when the corn popped and watching the lid pop up (cause you have to add extra corn!)  She was very helpful sprinkling the butter over the corn.

With all that going on I was able to finish up the whole right side of the chart.  I believe it gets me to at least 2/3’s done.

Now to outline the second ghost for stitching on the train tomorrow.

Lazy dayz

Today I have been totally lazy.  I did brush my teeth after dragging my butt out of bed at 8ish am, got to sleep in 3 hrs!

So far Ive been working on Witch’s Hat all day.

Witch's Hat 9-26-09

Nice project to play with while catching up on NCIS LA and NCIS.  Jury is still out on NCIS LA, need to find the quirkyness that makes me lol.  NCIS however, very good opening show for the season.  I almost missed the ending, got pulled away on a phone call, and D deleted the episode!  Thank gods CBS has come out of the dark ages and now lets you watch FULL episodes online.  D was very willing to tell me what happened but so not the same thing as watching it!!

I have a few other shows Ive added to our lineup to check on this year.  The new one with Christian Slater, The Forgotten – missed the pilot so will have to drag that out of the internet.  I loved My Own Worst Enemy but think it would have been better received as a film and not tv.  FlashForward sounds cool but havent watched it yet but remembered to record it.  I need to catch up on Fringe.  I like it, D doesnt so I have to find times to watch online.  And now that CBS has full episodes Im going to see if I can catch up on the Mentalist.

Now Im watching Mr Magoriumn’s Wonder Emporium (I find why they call the accountant Mutant funny), watching D play the new Batman on his 360 and still working on Witch’s Hat.  Might have that one done this week!  One more WIP down, several 10’s to go (least its not in the hundreds – yet)

Thank you for all the wonderful comments.  Helps keep me going stitchy wise – now if I could also transfer that to more posts…

Witchy Weekend

I was stitching fiend this weekend.  After finishing PS Christmas Eve, I pulled out Sam Sarah’s Witch’s Hat and got busy!

Witch's Hat 8-30-09

I using DMC for the most part, sticking to charted for black (wdw Kohl) and glow-in-the-dark for the ghosts and parts of the hat.

I do have to say that while the glow thread is better than filament, it aint by much.  Both pretty much suck.  Thread has better coverage (imho)

I didnt get much x’s added today.  Due to Homer’s failing health (not eating or drinking much and very lethargic) we decided to change food again to raw.  So after cruising the internet, (http://www.catnutrition.org/index.php) off I went to round up whats needed and get mixing.  No cooking with the raw diet.  I wont share pics of the end results but he has tried it out.  I hope this helps him.
