Ah, to be back home

The title says it all.  We spent the weekend up at PAX (Penny Arcade Expo – Gamers Unite!!).  We all had a great time.  First time we took the boys with us.  DL was mainly interested in staying in BYOC (Bring your own computer) and playing while P was all about seeing (and trying to play) the games.  D and I took turns staying with DL and taking P around to see stuff.

We did get in a couple of sites of Seattle, Science Fiction and Music museums (they are a combo deal).  Didnt have enough time to see the Science museum or the Aquarium.  But we have those for next year :o)

I was able to get some stitching done, we took the train and I stitched on Renaissance Angel there as well as in the hotel and worked on Quaker Stocking and CDC on the way back.  I dont have pic updates yet but will soon.  Just too bushed to get stuff out and take pics.

Well, its off to bed as its an early morning for me and one kid.  P’s day starts off EARLY with the bus coming around 6:30am.  DL is more normal with bus coming at a more normal time of 8ish.

PAX 2009

D and I had a great time at PAX 2009 (gaming conf) as expected this year.  Tons of new games coming out.

Ubisoft has a new dance game coming out for the Wii thats due out around the holidays called Just Dance.  Similar to DDR but packed full of 80’s tunes and uses the remotes and nunchucks  It was fun watching people play it.  D and I were able to capture the footage below

The “swords” were swag (freebie stuff) from Dragon Age Origins and the Pirates were dressed as such for a competition at another booth.  Put together and dancing = lots of lol’s from me :o)

More PAX pictures may be posted later :o)

Sunflower update

More stitching on Sunflower House yesterday (as posted) and more today. Added more to the roof and side of the house today, trying to get more shelter for the owners. So far luck has held out and the frogs have pretty much left the owners be (but we all know I just let the cat out of the bag...)

Found a neet trick for free hand stitching when dealing with all the extra fabric around where you are stitching - Rolling! I know it seems like SUCH a no-brainer but apparently My brain had difficulty with this. I had been wadding (which causes more wrinkles than I care to think about) and there is only so much fabric my hands can take wadded up. Now take rolling the extra fabric and wow! its no problem. Thx to a fellow stitcher at A&T for that trick :o)

More happy news - PAX tickets came in the mail yesterday and tomorrow I will be purchasing train tickets for our way up to Seattle. Lurking the PAX forums, D found that PAX attendees tend to take over a train-car or 2 from LA to Seattle and so far there is still room left on the train. They have the trip pretty well planned as to those bringing consoles, games, TVs, food, drinks and Drinks with people in charge of the Drinks and making sure the costly consoles get back to their owners.

While this is our 3rd trip to PAX, it will be the first for the train. We had been thinking of taking the train mainly for cost savings - savings in gas (there and back) as well as the $25 per day parking the hotel this year will be charging. Could be close to $275-300 just in gas and parking alone! From Portland, OR!! Train tickets - $124. For both of us. ROUND TRIP!! We will be riding Tri-Met (pdx mass transit) to the train station (cost of D's ticket only as I have a free pass from work) and with the number of folks on the train up, we may be able to share a cab (and the scary fare that could come with that) to the hotel.

So - Saving $$ and vacation time with the Man and the kids will be at In-laws :o) I so cannot wait until PAX!

Thx for stopping by

Quiet weekend

I was sent to stitch group on Sat at A&T by D and told to spend as much time as I needed. I love him so much!! I got there a bit after ten and left a tad after 3pm. Worked on Needleworker and as far as I can tell, no frogs visited.

And with that done, I spent no more time stitching the rest of the weekend :(

Sat afternoon was actually spend playing WoW, actually made it to 43 with my Druid. Havent logged into WoW to really play in months - have to say I havent really missed it :)

D and I will be heading off to PAX again this year (w00t!), Gamers of the world unite :) Its basically E3 but specifically for the public. This year there will be a section for independent game creators.

To finish up the weekend, I trolled sites for Halloween charts and found quite a few that will be joining my collections. I will post pics when they come home.
