Finding my Mojo

Above is a card I made for Lucy for her birthday the other week.  She is the "jigsaw queen" having made lots of jigsaw books for her friends (including one for me) so I thought I would use a piece on her birthday card.  Hope she liked it.

Well, life has been busy since my last post, looking for a care home for MIL, and I feel this is a big responsibility.  At the end of the day we need to find somewhere which is to be her home for the future, where she can feel safe and secure but above all be happy.  We have looked at so many and now have settled on two which we are hoping to take her to see for herself so she can make the decision.  It has become quite obsessive with me and I just wish I did not worry so much about it.

Perhaps the worry of it, perhaps the time taken visiting, writing up notes etc has caused it but I have lost my mojo.  In an attempt to find it I decided to try something different for me on my first free day and I looked at sketch layouts for inspiration.  Most of the finished samples I have seen use scrapbook paper and as I have lots (too much - sounds familiar?) I have gone down that road with a couple of cards.

The one above is for a friend who has a birthday coming up, hope she does not see it before her birthday.  It looks a bit wonky because I ended up taking a photograph as the scan came out much too light.  The burgundy edge is actually the tablecloth!  The image is a cute one (I do not do cute normally but am getting into it (slapped wrists, I was so anti-cute when I first began stamping) which I got at Harrogate last Saturday.

This is another sketch layout I tried and you can see I have become addicted to making paper flowers using a couple of punches I bought from my friend Cath quite a while ago.  I did measure everything to ensure the layers were equal and straight but somehow they don't look it on the scan.

Not coping well with the new scanner/printer (the old printer part died on our previous one) and I do prefer the scans the old one did to this new one.  Maybe we need to look at the settings before I post again because it is scanning far too light.
