Sneak peek

Here's a little something that is going up a little later today on the Art Anthology blog.

No first day of school pics here due to the rain and feeling like running late. Oh yes the bus was 10 minutes late.
Gotta love that!!

It's a happy little tag that made me think of my boy when he started Kindergarten.

Hope on over to Art Anthology to check it out.

I used a Stencil Girl Stencil, and Close To My Heart Stamps. The colors were all from Art Anthology.

That's all for now. happy scrappn!

Big Blog Tour Nomination

I was nominated as a creative blogger by one of the super talented and my beautiful scrapbook friend Laura Gilhuly.  Laura creates such amazing pieces.  I totally love her work and love watching her grow.   I was so lucky to get to work with her! She rocks it! Make sure to check out her blog!!

We are joining up as a chain of fun blog hop tours where so many of us will get to meet new bloggers, get new inspiration and connect with blogs that will open up our creativity. This hop is sure to get your mojo going!

Here are my 4 questions that need to be answered before I pass along my nominations. I'll give you my answers then lead you to 3 amazing artists you will love visiting!

1. What am I working on?

I have been so blessed to be on different teams. I am working on projects for the next issue of Scrap N' Art Magazine and also for the design team of Art Anthology
Below is a sample for the magazine.

2. How does my work differ from others of its genre?

I have to say I have a varied style. I don't feel like I fit into one area. I like to try them all. Sometimes I'm in the mood for vintage... sometimes romance and then sometimes vintage romance. I love to experiment and try new techniques and tools and products. I love sharing what I learn and find. Maybe my style is hodge podge or a buffet of interesting colors.

3. Why do I write/create what I do?

I started this as a way to preserve the memories and photos of my family and of items that I find interesting. Then it grew into something more. Exploring on the internet, looking in magazines and seeing my friends work inspired me to try to do more. However I do feel that I've left my original intention and purpose behind. I feel very soon I will go back to my roots and focus more on preserving my memories of my family and friends.

4. How does your writing/creating process work?

I used to start with a photo..then I tried starting with the paper. I love my paper. Now with working on a magazine it starts with the product that I must focus on. I look to others for inspiration and technique and sometimes I implement it. I definitely dream design. I'll think about it, jot ideas down and then play - move pieces around and see what I like. Basically in the end create what you love- about what you love- using pieces and products you love. I have been so blessed in this journey and I surely hope to continue to feel inspired to create. I hope you do too!

Now onto my nominees:

Lynne is such a wonderful scrapper. She has a love for animals that fills her big heart, especially squirrels and pugs!! She has amazing talent. She pays great attention to detail and has such a wonderful touch with her projects. I love her projects and especially the cool movies and famous people ones. She has such a way with her creations. Be sure to stop by her blog for some fabulous inspiration.

Wow! This young gentleman is amazing. I wish I had an tiny bit of his talent. When I see his work it is wow. He's joined some amazing teams. He is true to himself and it shows in his wonderful work. He is quite an inspiration. He creates lovely videos and is now a young entrepreneur by selling some fabulous albums which he will create for you. Absolutely check out his blog! You won't be disappointed.

Oh Lorrie's work is such a delight to look at. You can feel the love in her projects. She loves making off the page projects as well and I am so lucky to serve with her over at Scrap N' Art magazine. She is uber talented and daring to explore new techniques. There's definitely more to her story so hop on over to her blog to be inspired.

That's it for now. I know you will find some wonderful inspiration from these artists!
Happy Scrappn!

Well here we are folks.

These are the 2 projects I submitted for the final round for Heartfelt Creations.

Project 1 "Happy":

Instructions for this layout:
First paint your chippie with with Gesso. After Gesso has dried apply the rub-on of your choice. Next choose a base paper from the Timeless Amour Collection. Second choose another page from the same collection, cut down to 11 x 11, and use a Martha Stewart Deep Edge Punch. Adhere punched page to the base.  Choose a 3rd page from the same collection and cut down to 6 x 8.5 inches. Use a Punch around the Page from Martha Stewart to achieve this look. Glue picture onto this smaller punched paper. On the second layer in the upper right hand corner stamp the flower image using Gathered Twigs Distress Ink. Color in the flowers using Distress Inks and Markers. In the bottom right corner stamp the Tattered Blossom Swirls Precut Set twice. Color in the flowers with markers. From the same collection choose a saying from the pre-designed cards and then glue that card onto some extra scrap paper from the same collection. Distress the edges. Take the mounted photo with the punched edges and glue down on the second layer in a left justified manner, not centered or leaning to the right.  Next adhere the predesigned word card to about center of the second page and overlapping a little onto the matted photo. Take your chippie and mount it with foam squares. Place along the bottom left of the photo. Using the Tattered Blossoms die and the paper from the collection die cut out the flowers. Stamp flowers onto separate paper from the collection.  Fussy cut the flowers and arrange with the die cut flowers. Assemble the flowers into layers of 3 and 4 and glue together. Put one bundle of flowers to the top left of the page and glue. Take second bundle of flowers and glue down in the bottom right on the outer edge of the second layer. I have to say just working on these two projects was a learning experience. I had to go get the C plate for my Cuttlebug because the dies are super cute and thin.  This was my first flower die as well. I like having the matching stamps. I also used some chalk as I saw in one of their videos.

Until next time ... Happy Scrappn!

Scraputante's Mixed Media Challenge

I thought this was way cool the way this challenge was set up. We were to use certain elements. I haven't painted in a long time so I did a quickie practice and gave it a whirl. I might get out my sheets and practice some of my flowers I like to paint. Can't wait to see the next challenge.
This is how it was laid for us:
Our First Challenge--I am including an inspiration piece (just to help you get started if you don't know where to begin) in addition to the quote, which is “I must have flowers, always, and always.” ― Claude Monet.

Required Elements--please use both
1) flowers (duh) :)
2) scrapbook paper

Mixed Media Elements--choose 3 out of five
1) ribbon
2) paint
3) mist
4) a button or buttons
5) a rub-on

You can use a blank (white or cream or black) 12x12, canvas or art journal page of 5x7 or larger for this piece.

I chose flowers and did use a flower made from scrapbook paper. I created this on an art journal page. I used a ribbon, a button, rubons and paint.

Painted the page with Black Gesso as a foundation.

3rd Eye -TES-087 BORDERS 2  with Art Anthology

Small rose from 3rd Eye

Ribbon stem

Different color of Art Anthology

Makes me want to drag out my paints and paint a bit more.

I got to use my Prima Foam Stamp that I won in a chat. How cool I love how easy it was to use and clean.  I chose to use my Metallic Distress Stains to make them shimmer off the black.

I love flowers and find them inspiring.. they are full of life and color and make me happy.

Supplies used:
Prima Foam Stamp
Tim Holtz Metallic Distress Stains 3 : Tarnished Brass, Brushed Pewter, Antiqued Bronze
Prima Buttons from Engraver Collection
3rd Eye stamps : Leaf small -TES-026S; Rose small -TES-020S; Borders 2 - TES-087

PowderPuff Chalk Inks : Tahiti, Pink Cheeks
Kaisercraft Rubon's: Charlotte's Dream
Art Anthology Dimensional Crystals: Guava, BlueBird

I had a good time, Thank you Kelly.

I am going to also enter this at Berry71Bleu March Challenge You Color My world

Happy Scrappn and Happy Easter.

Sister- February Reveal for Paper Mixing Bowl

Red Velvet Cake is our theme in the kitchen this month! Loads of layers with red, cream and brown. I went in the direction of creams with hints of the other two colors.

Head over to The Paper Mixing Bowl to cook up something neat with us.

My focus in this layout is of the photos of my sister, Kristina, which I took about 5 years ago.  I loved these photos. I also paired some red flowers. Thank you to Homer and his book The Odyessey for lending some pages to my layout.

For my layer cake, I used my photos and book pages, doily punch  and old papers with pictures of stamps. For my frosting I used some moldeling paste mixed with ink to make my butterscotch frosting. For my pairs of course the 2 pairs of photos and the 2 red flowers.. the 2 clock symbols, 2 DUSTY ATTIC chipboard pieces. My rings are from the bottom of my Mtn Dew can dipped in Vintage Photo Distress Ink.

For my directions I just know of the love I feel for my sister. We seem to go thru a lot in our lives but we always try to stand by each other. Thank you sis no matter where we are in the world or even down the street from each other you are loved. The Fleur symbol is a nod to her matching tattoo. Here is the finished product  resembling a messy desk:
