Creative Memories Vintage Chic and downtown Nashville

Hey there!  Today I have some great pics from downtown Nashville, Tennessee.  I used a pale blue embossed background card stock  in contrast to the vibrant purple accents.  I picked the papers based on the great mural photo in the center.

Here is the sketch I used from a Creative Memories Worldwide Virtual Crop.

I used a Tim Holtz Sizzix dies to create the flowers.  I added pearl center brads to the middle of the layers to hold the entire flower together.

Ingredients:
Creative Memories Vintage Chic power palette including die cuts, die cut tape, paper, card stock and photo mats
Spellbinders etched label
Tim Holtz Sizzix flower dies
Quick Quotes Powderpuff chalking ink
brads

I would like to enter this in the following challenge:

Here is the sketch:

I stamped the image on white card stock and die cut it with the coordinating thin dies.

One more look at this card.

Cricut Outdoor Adventure for Bitten By the Bug 2

It's time for an outdoor adventure!  The next biweekly challenge from Bitten By the Bug 2-Let's Get Outdoors!  I have had some beautiful weather lately and just going for a walk is a blessing these days.  The adventure I scrapped today was no simple walk around the neighborhood.  The event I scrapped was an ultra-marathon.  You may have seen my mini album for my son from the same event.  This is a page I did for his friend who ran the half.  His family did not attend so I hope to frame this and give it to him when the current situation is over.

I found a sheet of the same old Creative Memories orange paper as the die cut cones that was perfect for the title.

I thought it was a cute idea to have the runners coming out of the woods.  This event is call the Stone Steps Ultra Marathon because it is in a park with lots of stone steps and very wooded.  Mt. Airy Forest is the largest park in Cincinnati.

Cricut Outdoor Man (title), Camp Out (trees) and Sports Mania (runners)

Dreaming Tree Simply Stripes bag for Bitten By the Bug 2 Box or bag challenge

It is time for a new challenge at BBTB2. Bitten By the Bug 2's Easter Bags, Boxes or Baskets challenge will be open for the next two weeks.  I have used another Dreaming Tree SVG for my project.  I received the Handy Handbags bundle free with a $10 purchase.  What a great deal!  This project wasn't as difficult as it looks.  I find watching the assembly videos really helps as Leo the owner gives you some great tips for completing each project.

I used Quick Quotes Spring Showers papers with a green shimmer card stock base.

.The front pocket is a versatile detail.

I used a magnet to keep it closed.

The pocket is the perfect size for a gift card.

I used a paper that was not uniformly patterned for the sides.  One side is more white washed wood and the other has more flowers.

One of Leo's tips was to fray the "tassels" which I did before rolling and adhering.

I also embossed the metallic copper cuts to add more detail.

A view of the back of the bag.

One last look at this project.  I can't wait to make another bag in the bundle.

Ingredients:
Dreaming Tree Striped Purse
Bright Green shimmer card stock
Quick Quotes Spring Showers paper collection
Quick Quotes Powderpuff chalking ink
American Craft yellow textured card stock
metallic copper card stock
Darice 12" flourish embossing folder
Brown metallic pearls
glue dots and red lined tape

Texture techniques for Lasting Memories challenge blog

Today is my final appearance as guest designer for Lasting Memories challenge blog and the final challenge of the month is Texture.  I added plenty of different textures on this layout I created for a friend.  First of all I began by heavily editing the photo to highlight the bride.  I erased the color then sampled the deep purple flowers and added a little color back into the photo.

Although this was not the flower technique challenge I could not resist adding a big beautiful purple and lavendar flower to this purple layout.  Even the leaves have a purplish hue to them.  I stamped a piece of lavendar paper to create a frame.  It wasn't perfect so I added a layer of textured fiber over the mat and under the photo.

Here is a photo from the top left corner.  I also added a very light lavendar fairy type fiber across the top.

And the bottom right.  As you can see there is lots of texture and dimension to this layout.

I used some of the negative velvet triangles from the border to create layered elements.  I spent a lot of time adding all the pearls and bling along the edges of the frame.

Ingredients:
The Paper Loft Snow paper (background)
Provo Craft Texture Amethyst paper (largest mat)
velvet and glitter paper
gems, pearls, flowers, leaves and brad
The Robin's Nest Dew Drops embellishments
Cricut Songbird frame and Close to My Heart Art Philosophy border
Sassafras Lass Trims N' Things stamp
Stampin Up Eggplant envy
Creative Memories Family title sticker from Black & White collection
die cut
fiber

Tim Holtz Old Jalopy Masculine Birthday with Sketch N Scrap

This month is my dad's birthday.  I made him this masculine card with Tim Holtz dies.  I was going through my stash and this blue card stock was already paired with this patterned paper.  I went a step further to grunge up the blue paper with a background stamp and embossing powder.  I also inked all the edges to further distress the card.

Here is the Sketch N Scrap sketch I used.

I stained the screw head brad with Ranger alcohol ink to match the patterned paper.  I layered the die cuts on top of a border of paper tape and twine.  I used a glue dot behind the knot to keep the twine in place.

Ingredients:
Tim Holtz Sizzix Bigz Gadget Gears and Movers & Shapers Mini Gear dies
Tim Holtz Sizzix Movers and Shapers Mini Old Jalopy
Impression Obsession grunge stamp
Stampin Up Sprinkles of Life sentiment stamp

Creative Memories and Retro Rubber Challenge sketch

And for my second entry in the Retro Rubber Challenge this week.  Another pack in the stack on my desk...this time it was a card kit from a swap group received years ago.  The paper that was in the kit was not exactly what I saw with the waves so I pulled out this ancient wave paper from Creative Memories.

To complete the card I followed these steps:
  • Cut the background paper to 4 1/8"x5 3/8"
  • Stamp sentiment on white card stock
  • Die cut sentiment
  • Stamp images on embellishments
  • Ink all edges
  • Layer die cuts adhere to background paper
  • Add washi tape at bottom edge of die cuts
  • Add stamped embellishments on top of washi
  • Add sentiment

Ingredients:
Creative Memories Wave paper
Our Daily Bread Designs Count the Waves sentiment (over 3 years old)
Prima Seashore Mini-2 sets (several years old)
Stampin Up Midnight Muse and Tempting Turquoise inks
Quickutz Nesting Lace Rectangles
Quick Quotes Blue Moon Powderpuff Chalking ink
wave die cuts from my stash

Tim Holtz Vintage Globe die and Retro Rubber Sketch

It feels so good to actually have time to just PLAY! I am ahead on my design team projects and have time on my hands.  I was intrigued by the latest sketch from Retro Rubber Challenge so I made a couple of versions.  Here is the first.

I have been cleaning and rearranging, when am I not?  I have some papers and elements in piles as the first ideas for cards this paper managed to make it to the bottom of the stack.  Its from Quick Quotes and so old I don't remember the name of the collection. So that is how I began and here is the sketch that I used.

RRCB 130

I started with a some die cut compasses but the pieces ended up being a little too big.  I searched my database of creativity and found this globe!  I am not sure I have ever used it.  I cut it three times in silver, blue and green.  I cut away the blue layer of "land" and inlaid the green land.  I cut away all the blue but the globe and layered on a silver cut.

The sentiment is one stamp and I sliced it and matted each word.

Ingredients:
Quick Quotes designer paper
Tim Holtz Sizzix Vintage Globe Die
Stampin Up Forest Foliage ink
Close to my Heart Pack Your Bags sentiment (purchased 2018)
misc card stock
