I made a envelope mini album of my son's recent "greatest achievement".  He ran 50K on 10.27.19. I am so very proud of him, it is going to be hard to save this until Xmas.

I love putting together these envelope mini's. I am not going into the details to create the base of the mini, but you can find a really quick tutorial HERE. I have a huge box of 5x7 envelopes~leftovers from a store...not sure how all cards get separated from the envelopes but it is to my benefit!  I recently picked up a Creative Memories Bountiful 8x8 paper pack from a thrift store and completed this album with left overs!  You can't beat the price of this project.

I cut the title with my Cricut Maker from the same paper collection.  I fussy cut one of the pieces with the leaves, inked them and adhered them on top of the original print for extra pop!  The large orange brad is part of the closure.

And now for the inside...this set of pages has a half page pocket on the right, I punched a couple of tags, added twine and placed them in the pocket.  I had a photo of the marathon route.  It has some very strenuous elevation changes...lined with stone steps hence the name.

Page two/three has a pocket but more on that in a minute.  I created a half page fold on page four.  I am holding it shut with a brad and photo frame lock.

The last couple of pages have a couple of stickers and layered die cut papers.  I added washi tape for interest.  I also added washi tape on the spine for strength and it is method by which I added my half page to page 3.

Finally, the back of the album.  I secured the twine to hold the album closed with a brad on the back.

Now my inserts, on one of the pages (envelopes) I cut a tiny sliver off the closed end creating a full size pocket behind the half page pocket.  I added pull tabs made with scraps.  I adhered a pic to each page and left the back for my son to journal about his experience.

When sorting the pics I took, my son chose the one below.  My guess it is reminds him of the discomfort that resulted from almost 6 and half hours of running!!! His official time was 6:23:4.  His first ultra marathon!

I am sure he can find things to write about his experience.  It was a phenomenal accomplishment especially considering he has never even ran a full marathon.  He didn't win by 2 full hours but not many would even attempt this feat much less not train.

Quick Quotes Envy Album from Mini Reserve plus one more

Hello, I recently attended the Mini Reserve in Conyers, GA.  The Mini Reserve is a two day event.  On Saturday we finished what we could of a 20 page album, one attendee finished the album complete with photos, we were all in awe!  Sunday we made this mini album from envelopes.  Quick Quotes had cut the panels of paper for the envelopes perfectly.  Each envy contained a double sided card to which we adhered a pretty panel on front.  This will hold so many pics and is great for a gift.  I loved it so much...

that I went home and created a envelope mini with supplies I had at home.  I made this for my son as a keepsake of  his recent world travels.  I used travel papers from Far and Away and Navigator paper packs.  The envelopes I had were a bit larger than the ones used in the Quick Quotes kit.

Therefore, I cut up one of the envelopes to create templates for the paper pieces needed to cover the envies inside.  I measured the rectangular dimensions, cut my patterned paper and then did a quick cut of the notched edge.

After covering all the envelopes with various papers cut from my template.  I added photos and mats.  I made a couple of journal cards for the inside pockets.  I stuffed the remaining pockets with the extra photos.

The inside is full of photos and quotes from Far and Away Quotes and Phrases sheet.  The outside panels are the sections from Adventure Awaits 105 paper.  Instead of the disc/twine closure from the Quick Quotes kit, I decided to let the flap tuck behind one of the outside panels.  The panel that is not fully adhered is visible in the bottom photo.

Quick Quotes April Club Q Video Unboxing

Hello, Alicia here today unboxing this month's Ultimate Combo Club Q April kit.  I made my first unboxing video showing in detail all the projects that come in the kit.  You can sign up for Club Q here.

Here are the four projects you get with the Ultimate Combo Club Q April kit:

I created one of the altered projects in a timed setting to see how long it would take.  This project the larger of the two mini tag albums took me 1.5 hours.  I do like to chalk all my edges.  I used the reverse side of several papers to make it my "own".

Here are some pics of the inside.  Club Q makes it so easy to put together with most of the cuts and score marks completed for you.  I tied some ribbon and created the photo tab by layering chipboard pieces.  The cascading flip on the back inside cover was so easy with score marks and pre cut holes, it could not have been more simple.  Chalking all the edges probably took the most time.

Beautiful Birthday Greetings Accordion Style

Hello, Alicia here. Today, I have a couple of accordion style card with floating labels.  I used thin dies to cut the 4 panel cards.  I decided to make them both birthday cards. I used the Spring Showers collection that will be available on the website soon.

I was able to cut four pages from each 12x12 sheet of paper.  I used two full sheets and the rest of the pieces were cut from scraps.  I used Cool Gray PowderPuff Chalking Ink to ink all the edges and provide a cohesiveness between the pages.

Originally I intended to create a mini album but after cutting all the pieces I decided to make two 4 page cards.  Each page is cut individually so you can build up the card/album as much as you desire.  The only change to make this an album would be to add photos which can be cut to fit with the dies.

Details of the second card.  I left off the greens on this one. I stamped a quote and a sentiment and embossed them.

Something wonderful is about to happen...Quick Quotes Mini Album

Good morning! Quick Quotes readersAlicia here today.  I have been playing around with the January Club Q kits.  Wonderful papers and fantastic projects this month.  I made a mini with the wood frames.

Here is a view of both sides of the mini album  I put a sentiment on the front but a photo could easily replace it.  I added pockets and mats to several pages.

The pearls were a part of this month's Club Q.  There were many beautiful ribbons with the kit that I did not get a chance to use as of yet.

A few helpful hints for this mini.  I left the top open behind the frames on the front and back.  I slipped a background paper inside but this could easily be replaced with a photo later.  I created the pockets by scoring .5" on 3 sides.  I cut away the corners to keep the pocket flat.  I added adhesive to the folds and placed on the background paper.

Life Together...Quick Quotes Mini Album

Hello Quick Quotes readersAlicia here with you today (and for another year!)  I have a mini album I created for a Christmas gift.  I made this for my brother in law with the hopes it would be used on his desk. He absolutely loved it!  I used select pieces from the  Adventure Awaits collection to maintain a masculine feel throughout.

To begin this project:
  • Cut a piece of chipboard to 6.25"x8.75"
  • Score at 4.25" and 4.5"
  • Adhere magnet with strong tape to outside front cover
  • Layer strong tape on top of magnet to adhere to cover paper
  • Cut 2 pieces of Quick Quotes designer paper to 6.25"x10-11" (the extra length is to create the flap, overlap to your preference)
  • Ink ALL edges with Quick Quotes Powderpuff chalking inks
  • Adhere each paper piece to the outside and inside cover leaving the flap open
  • Embed the second magnet inside the flap to meet up with the magnet on the cover (use plenty of strong tape to stay in place
  • Seal the magnet in the flap
  • Adhere ribbon to edges of flap for durablity

I kept the flap shorter because I wanted to use this great quote on front.  I placed it on the cover to determine how long I wanted my flap prior to cutting the paper. In hindsight I should have used a couple of sets of magnets spread apart or not put so many photos inside...I couldn't help myself there were so many cute ones!  I did realize this issue and for that reason there are no bulky embellishments inside the album so that it would stay shut with one magnet set and lay flat.

Basic directions for the accordion inside:
  • Cut a 12"x12" piece of card stock to 2-6"x12"
  • Score consecutively at 4"
  • Adhere the two pieces together
  • Adhere one end to the front inside cover and one to the back inside cover
  • Cover the card stock with pieces of 4"x6" Quick Quotes designer paper
  • Add photos and sentiments
  • Don't forget to ink all those edges with Quick Quotes Powderpuff chalking inks

You may can tell from the photos I have three pieces of paper, I did not start with a 12"x12" piece so it complicated the process a little but allowed me to add extra pages!

The Adventure Awaits 105 paper was perfect for this project since one side has 6 panels at the 4"x6" size.  If possible I used the deigns from the paper to provide the sentiment.  On other pages I used pieces I cut from Adventure Awaits 12x12 Quotes Phrases sheet.

I used my Canon PIXMA iP8720 13x19 Wireless Printer to easily print the photos I downloaded from Facebook for my mini album.  This project went very smoothly because of the great products.

Favorite Places to eat mini album

Here is another food project for my guest designing position over at The Awesome Ladies Project.  This prompt was favorite places to eat/where you eat.  I decided to create a mini album of my favorite restaurants...I soon realized these are also all in my neighborhood, most within walking distance.

My first tag is the Drunken Bento.  Half price sushi all the time.  They also serve Korean dishes.  My husband really enjoys the galbi, a Korean style BBQ short rib.  I always eat sushi.

I used Maya Road Sushi stamp set and Distress inks to create the base of this page.

Just across the street from Drunken Bento is Thai Express.  Thai Express was one of my very first favorite restaurants in the neighborhood.  It was only two blocks from my first apartment here in Cincinnati.  They have a designated pan for vegetarian dishes.  I like Pad Thai and Massaman Curry.  The spring rolls are crisp and light not thick and greasy like egg rolls.  I also like the mango salad.

On the same block is Mac's Pizza.  They have several great nights of specials.  Monday is $5 burgers (including a homemade veggie burger) and family favorite $5 Pizza Thursdays.  My favorite pizza is a grape Gorgonzola.  It has a garlic sauce, grapes, tomatoes, onions and almonds with Gorgonzola. It is divine!!!

The next block down has the Elephant Walk, a combination of Indian and Ethiopian food.  I prefer Indian but am in love with injera, yum!  On this tag I used shimmer mist and added some tabs to divide the two different foods.

Conscious Kitchen used to be on the same block as the first group but recently moved a mile or so away to a new location.  It is spacious and new.  CK is soul food with turkey and fish.  The signature sandwich is the salmon Cuban...I had never had a Cuban before.  It is a my absolute favorite sandwich with a side of spring rolls or onion rings.

I finally finished the album with dessert.  Cincinnati's local chain, United Dairy Farmers or UDF.  This photo is from back in the summer showing a special flavor using a local beer Rhinegeist Truth.

I used Distress Oxides on this tag with a bit of pearl shimmer spray.
Colors:  Worn Lipstick and Twisted Citron
Stamp:  Stampin Up Honeycomb Happiness

I lined the back of each tag with a matching card stock or paper.  All the edges were inked with Quick Quotes Midnight Confession Powderpuff chalking ink,  I finalized the album with various fibers tied on the ring.

I would like to enter this in the following challenges:
